Welcome to Dubito, a thrilling card game invented by Reiner Knizia that will leave you hesitating and wanting more! In this game, you’ll embark on a quest to build the most impressive tableau ever seen. Are you ready to unleash your strategic skills and match wits with your opponents? Let’s dive in!
Unveiling the Enigmatic Cards and the Preliminary Deal
Let’s gather your friends and get ready for a gripping session of Dubito. For up to four players, you’ll need two standard 52-card French decks. If you have more players, simply add another deck or two into the mix. Shuffle all the cards thoroughly, ensuring a fair game. Distribute eight cards to each player, one by one, while reserving the remaining cards as the draw pile. The player on the left side of the dealer kicks off the game. The Thrilling Action
When I play the game, I get to make decisions. On each turn, I have to decide which card from my hand I want to add to my tableau. A tableau has four rows. Each row has its own rule that I have to follow. I can put as many cards as I want on each row, as long as I follow the rule. When I start the game, I have to say which row I am putting my card on. But once I have all four rows set up, I don’t have to say anymore. I build the rows from left to right, one card at a time.
Here are the rules for each row:
Row 1: I have to play cards in order. The lowest card is an Ace and the highest card is a King.
Row 2: The cards I put on this row have to be the same suit, but the rank doesn’t matter.
Row 3: The cards on this row must have the same suit and be in order.
Row 4: I have to put cards with the same rank on this row. For example, I can put all Kings or all 8’s on this row.
So, here’s how the game goes. When it’s my turn, I play a card from my hand and then draw a card from the draw pile. Simple, right? But here’s the catch: I can only add cards to my tableau until I can’t anymore. Once I reach that point, my game is done. And once every player reaches that point, the game is over.
SCORING
Alright, let’s talk points. Each row in my tableau has a value, and I earn points based on the amount of cards in each row. Here’s the breakdown:
Row 1 = 1 point per card in the row
Row 2 = 2 points per card in the row
Row 3 = 3 points per card in the row
Row 4 = 4 points per card in the row
