DIVABALL
Welcome to Divaball, the ultimate drinking game for parties of any size! The goal of the game is simple: have a blast and enjoy a few drinks, but remember to drink responsibly. Let’s get started!
SETUP
Before we begin, make sure everyone has two cups handy. Fill the first cup with your favorite beverage, like beer, and leave the second cup empty. Throughout the game, we’ll be mentioning something called “The Dance.” It starts as a simple spin, but as we introduce more rules, you can jazz up your moves!
GAMEPLAY
To begin the game, one player places the ball in their empty cup, performs The Dance, and throws the ball to another player. The receiving player must then catch the ball in their empty cup.
If the ball is bobbled and then caught, we all say “one.” The player who caught the ball must perform The Dance and then pass the ball to someone else.
If the ball is caught cleanly without bobbling, again we all say “one.” The player who caught the ball can choose to throw it to someone else before, during, or after performing The Dance.
If the ball is not caught, both the person who threw it and the person who should have caught it need to take a drink. After that, the game starts again.
When we get to the second throw, we start counting “two.” From this point on, each throw is worth the number we are counting. For example, on the third throw, we count “three” and each drink is worth three. The pattern keeps going like this.
On the fifth throw, if the ball is caught, the person who threw it gets to make a rule for the game. This rule starts at the beginning of the next turn.
On the tenth throw, we reverse the order of The Dance. So if we were doing it clockwise, we switch to counterclockwise, and vice versa.
On the fifteenth throw, everyone has to finish their drinks. That’s the end of the game!
You can refill your drinks as needed throughout the game.
When I start dancing, it’s just a simple spin. But after I’ve done it successfully five times, I get to make a new rule. Usually, these new rules are about the dance itself, but sometimes we can change other things like how we score or end the game, how much we drink, or what happens if we spill.
Here are some examples of the new rules we can make: we can add more spins, do air humping, incorporate specific dance moves or verbal cues, or even close our eyes while we dance.
The Game Ends
The game comes to an end when someone meets a winning condition and completes it, or when we’re all so drunk that we decide to stop playing. Remember to drink responsibly!
