DEER IN THE HEADLIGHTS
HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT DEER IN THE HEADLIGHTS
Hi there! The aim of Deer in The Headlights is to have the least number of points by the time the game finishes. In each round, you’ll roll three dice and act according to the instructions on the rolling chart, based on what you rolled.
We’ll keep playing rounds until someone gets rid of all their cards. When that happens, the round ends and we add up the points. The person with the most points at the end loses, so get rid of your cards! Remember, you don’t want to be the one wearing that “Deer in The Headlights” look!
PREPARATION
OK, let’s get started with the setup. First, we need to shuffle all of the cards. Once they’re shuffled, we’ll deal all of the cards equally among the players. Make sure everyone has access to the dice and rolling chart by placing them in the middle of the group. Each player should have their own score pad, so write their name at the top of each pad.
Now, let’s talk about the gameplay:
The dealer goes first. They’ll start by rolling all of the dice. Then, they’ll look at the chart and discard any cards that match the instructions. Some of these cards will go in the center pile, while others will be passed to other players, depending on what the instructions say.
Let’s keep the game going, one player at a time. We’ll take turns rolling the dice and doing what needs to be done. The round will end when someone runs out of cards. The rest of us will add up our points and write them down on our scorecards.
Kings, Queens, and Jacks give us ten points each, while Aces only give us one point. The goal is to have the least number of points when the game ends. The person with the fewest points wins, and the one with one hundred and fifty points loses!
TIME TO END THE GAME
We’ll bring the game to a close as soon as someone reaches one hundred and fifty points. Then, we’ll all count up our scores and see who has the lowest score. That person will be the winner!
