CRIPPLE MR ONION
Did you know that Cripple Mr Onion started as a made-up card game in movies? But in 1993, it became a real game! It’s all about strategy and putting together winning combinations. The goal is to create the best combination, better than anyone else’s. Whoever has the best combination at the end wins!
READY TO PLAY?
Let’s get started! Each player gets ten cards. Take a look at your cards and decide if you want to get rid of four of them. If you do, you can draw four new ones. Then, five more cards are dealt face-up to you, and the dealer gets their cards face-down. And now the game begins!
TIME TO PLAY
So, here’s how the game goes. I start by grouping my cards into a winning group. Then, it’s your turn to try and group your cards into a winning group. If you succeed, I have to come up with an even higher winning combination to beat you.
We keep going around the table in a clockwise direction until someone has the highest combination and wins the hand. Exciting, right?
Now, let’s talk about the different winning groups in ascending order:
Bagel: This one requires 2 cards that add up to 20.
Two-Card Onion: For this group, you need 2 cards that add up to 21.
Broken Flush: Here, you’ll need 3 cards that total anywhere between 16 to 21. The catch is that one of those cards must be a different suit.
Three-Card Onion: This group involves 3 cards that add up to 21.
Flush: To win with a Flush, you need a set of 3 cards that add up to anywhere between 16 to 21, and they all have to be the same suit.
Four-Card Onion: Now we’re getting a bit more ambitious. You’ll need 4 cards that add up to 21.
Broken Royal: Here’s a specific combination – 6, 7, and 8. If you have these three cards, you’re in luck!
Five-Card Onion: This is the big one. To win with a Five-Card Onion, you need 5 cards that add up to 21.
Royal: Finally, we have the ultimate combination – three 7’s. If you manage to get these, you’re practically unstoppable!
Hey there! Let me walk you through some exciting poker combinations. Get ready for some fun!
1. Six-Card Onion: 6 cards equaling 21
With this combination, you need to collect a total of six cards that add up to 21. Can you beat that? Give it a try!
