ALONE

Hey there! In Alone, it’s just you against the forces of evil. Ready to take on the challenge? Awesome! One brave soul will step up as the Hero, tasked with completing a mission within a limited timeframe. The catch? Well, the land is crawling with danger and wickedness. Now it’s up to you to lead the charge. But wait, there’s more…

The Beginning

The Hero will start the game with a mission to accomplish. It won’t be easy, but you’ve got this! Your time is precious, so use it wisely. Throughout the game, evil will do everything in its power to stop you. They can see and control everything, so be prepared for a fight.

Meanwhile, all other players will join forces to control the evil. Picture this: they’re like the puppet masters, pulling the strings in the shadows. They’ll stop at nothing to crush your mission. Sounds intense, doesn’t it?

Will You Prevail?

Now, it’s time to ask the big question: will you come out on top? That’s what it all comes down to in Alone. The Hero’s fate rests in your hands. Gather your courage, strategize your moves, and give it everything you’ve got. Who knows what lies ahead? The only way to find out is to play the game!

So, are you ready to take on the challenge? Unleash your inner Hero and let the battle begin!

SETUP

Hero Setup

When I start playing the game, I get a randomly chosen Hero sheet, and I put it right in front of me. Then, I receive a bunch of tokens: mission tokens, self-control markers, round markers, adrenaline tokens, turn tokens, and charge tokens. I stack them up neatly in front of me. Now, I get to choose a character card, and I place it on my Hero sheet. I also declare the difficulty level that I want to play at.

Next, I place the life and self-control markers on the twelfth space of the health track. The round marker goes on the right side of the round track. I take one turn token and place it on each space of my hero sheet. To start off, I have three adrenaline tokens, so I put them in the pool space. This is my starting pool of adrenaline. I also receive the item deck, which I place in front of me, next to my Hero sheet. Finally, I am given reference cards that show me the stat cards.

When it comes to playing the game, one of the most important aspects is setting up the final mission. To do this, I start by shuffling all the Final Mission cards and then randomly drawing one for myself as the Hero. This card will determine what my final mission will be for this game.

Next, I need to prepare the mission cards for the evil players. I draw one card for each color of mission, and place them beside the final mission cards. These cards will represent the missions that the evil players will try to complete.

Now it’s time to set up the game board. I place three mission tokens on each room sector space, representing the tasks that I need to complete as the Hero. The remaining mission tokens are given to the players who are playing the evil roles.

Evil Setup

To ensure a fair game, we need to set up a screen in between the two groups of players. This screen will block my view as the Hero, so I won’t be able to see what the evil players are doing. One of the evil players takes on the leading position and will be in charge of coordinating the evil team.

Behind the screen, we place two random map sheets. These sheets represent different levels in the game, and they are connected by stairs. This creates the map for our game and sets the stage for our adventure.

Beside the map, I place the stairs tiles, creature tokens, hero token, room sector tokens, danger tokens, blacked tokens, and light tokens for you to use. You, as the evil players, will randomly place a room sector token in each space on the map. Once they’re all placed, you have one chance to switch two of the tokens.

I get to choose the Hero’s starting location. We’ll choose two of the four reaction decks to use throughout the game, and I’ll let you know which ones. We’ll also choose two creature tokens to place in two different sectors. And for a bit more danger, I’ll place two danger tokens on each level in any sector I want. Finally, I’ll put the compass beside the map, facing the same way as your Hero sheet. And then we can start playing.

GAMEPLAY

In this game, I’ll be using my skills of deduction and survival to complete different missions. Each turn, I’ll have the chance to take one or two actions. These actions include moving, searching for things, fighting enemies, exploring new areas, scavenging for supplies, and interacting with the environment.

To help me on my journey, I can draw item cards that will give me special abilities. I can also use the unique abilities that come with my character card. But here’s the catch – I won’t be able to see the entire game board at once. The Evil players will reveal and remove parts of the labyrinth based on what actions I take. So, I’ll have to be strategic and choose my actions wisely to uncover the unknown.

Now, let’s talk about something exciting: the goal of Evil players in a game. Their mission is to prevent the Hero from completing their tasks. To achieve this, they can unleash creatures, place danger tokens, and take other actions in response to what the Hero does. However, the Evil players must follow certain limitations when playing their reaction cards.

End of Game

The game reaches its conclusion when the Final Mission is completed. If the Hero manages to finish the mission within the given time, they emerge as the victor! However, if the Hero fails to complete the final mission, the Evil players claim victory.
