Welcome to Alien Frontiers!
Hey there, fellow space explorers! Get ready for an extraordinary adventure as we venture into the uncharted territory known as the alien frontier. As we embark on this thrilling journey, we’ll need to be resourceful, intelligent, and bold. Our mission is to manage our resources, unravel the mysteries of this new life, build a powerful fleet, and establish prosperous colonies. Think you’re up for the challenge?
Let’s Get Started
Now, let’s set the stage for our grand space odyssey. Find a comfortable spot and place the game board right in the center. Make sure it’s within everyone’s reach so we can navigate this alien terrain together. Don’t forget to put the scoring track board nearby, and let’s place a scoring marker of each color on the starting spot. We’ll assign someone the important task of keeping track of victory points as we progress through the game.
Let’s set up the game board for the Burroughs Desert territory, which is where the Relic Ship is located. We’ll start by putting the die in its designated spot on the board. Then, we need to place each territory card on the corresponding territory.
Next, we’ll create the fuel stock by putting the fuel tokens next to the solar converter. And to form the ore stock, we’ll place the gray tokens next to the lunar mine.
Now, let’s deal the alien tech cards. Three cards should be placed on the table next to the Alien Artifact, and one card should be given to each player. The remaining cards can be used to create a draw pile.
Lastly, the field generator counters should be placed on the left side of the board. Each player will receive three ships in their chosen color, which they’ll place on the Shipyard.
When it’s time to place the remaining ships, they can be put next to the shipyard to create the ship stock. As I gather the ships in my color, I also collect six colony tokens of the same color. Any leftover tokens go back in the box because we won’t need them for the rest of the game. To determine who goes first, we roll to see who gets the highest number.
Once we have our turn order, we start with the first player and go clockwise around the group. The second player will take a fuel, the third player will get an ore, and the fourth player will receive one fuel and one ore. This evens out any differences in starting resources. This step only happens at the beginning of the game. Now we’re ready to begin!
LET’S START PLAYING!
Let’s imagine we’re sitting around a table, playing a game. I’ll explain how it works.
First, we’ll take turns going clockwise. Each player will gather their fleet and roll the dice. After that, it’s time to assign our ships using our alien tech cards. You can use as many cards as you want to do this.
Now, here’s the tricky part. We want to dock as many ships as possible. But there are some rules we need to follow. We can only use the docks if they have enough ports available. And we also need to have the right resources to use the dock. If we meet these requirements, we can dock our ships and earn some cool benefits.
Oh, and remember, you can use your alien tech cards anytime during your turn. They might come in handy!
Alright, now that you know the basics, let’s start playing!
When I place a colony, I earn victory points and move my score track. I might also earn extra points with certain field generators. Once I’ve docked my ships and used my chosen alien tech cards, it’s time to end my turn. But before I do, I have to give back any extra tokens I have, so I don’t have more than eight.
Now it’s the next player’s turn, and they do the same things. We keep going like this, taking turns in a clockwise direction.
GAME OVER
Hey there! I’m Ellie, a proud resident of Northeast Tennessee. I’m crazy about animals, especially furry friends. Fantasy fiction novels are my jam, and I can never resist an adventure in the great outdoors. Speaking of amazing things in my life, I’m lucky to have a super supportive husband and two incredible fur babies who make my heart skip a beat.
Now, let’s talk about a super cool game: The game of colonies! This game is a foot-tapping journey that goes on until someone places their final colony on a territory. And when that happens, it’s treasure-counting time!
Each player gets some Victory Points, and they’re pretty awesome. You can score Victory Points for controlling the territory where the mind-boggling Positron Field hangs out. Plus, you’ll get Victory Points for every Alien Monument card and Alien City card you have. Oh, and don’t forget to count the victory points for every territory you control and each of your colony tokens. They’re your little golden nuggets!
Now, here’s a twist! Your Victory Points aren’t set in stone. They keep changing throughout the game. But when the game hits the finish line, the only thing that matters is the current score. And guess what? The player with the most Victory Points comes out as the victor! Winning feels like the coolest thing in the universe!
So, there you have it, my friend. The colonies game is a whirlwind of excitement and strategy. It’s all about placing your colonies, collecting Victory Points, and aiming for that winning title. Are you ready to embark on this thrilling adventure? Let’s do this!
