The Kami’s Turn
Once a Mandate Turn is complete, if the next step on the Political Track reveals the Kami symbol, we briefly diverge from the Political Phase to experience the Kami’s Turn. This is an opportunity for the Clans who have dedicated their Shinto warriors to worship at the Shrines to receive incredible benefits.
During the Kami’s Turn, we proceed to resolve the effects of each of the 4 Shrine tiles in a specific order, beginning with the leftmost Shrine and progressing to the right. At each Shrine, we take a look at the total strength of every Clan present. The Clan with the greatest strength claims the advantages bestowed by the Kami of that particular Shrine. In the event of a tie, we turn to the player with the highest Honor among the tied players, as they are considered to have the most strength in the Shrine. If a Shrine is unoccupied by any Shinto warriors, it is simply disregarded during this Kami’s Turn.
Hey there! I wanna talk to you about something super cool – the Kamis! You see, each of these Kamis has something special to offer. When you have the most Force on a Shrine, you get to use their awesome ability. And here’s the best part – their ability happens right away, even before we move on to the next Shrine! How cool is that?
Hey there, I’m the sun goddess, Amaterasu! Worship me, and I’ll grant you a special power. As my top devotee, you can move your Clan marker straight to the highest rank on the Honor Track. It doesn’t matter how low your Honor was before, I’ll take you all the way to the top, pushing everyone else down in the process.
But here’s something you should know: this could affect the tiebreaker for Honor when we resolve the next Shrines during this Kami Turn. So keep that in mind!
If you’re a fan of the wind, then you’ll be fascinated by Fujin – the god who reigns supreme over its power. When it comes to worship, Fujin grants me the ability to perform up to 2 Moves with my figures on the Map. The choices are simple, yet exciting – I can either Move 2 of my figures to adjacent Provinces or opt to Move 1 figure twice consecutively. It’s like having the best of both worlds at my fingertips!
When it’s time to embark on my movement, I have the freedom to either cross a Border or make use of a convenient Shipping Route that connects the Provinces. These options open up a world of possibilities as I strategize my next move. With Fujin by my side, the ability to traverse the land becomes an exhilarating adventure.
Having the power of Fujin adds a refreshing twist to the game. The wind may be invisible, but its impact is undeniable. I relish the excitement of harnessing this natural force to enhance my gameplay. Fujin truly is a game-changer, offering me the opportunity to embrace the unpredictable and embark on thrilling journeys across the Map.
In this ever-evolving world, where the winds of change blow incessantly, Fujin serves as a reminder that even the subtlest of forces can create dramatic transformations. By following Fujin’s guidance, I unlock a new realm of possibilities and discover the true meaning of strategic gameplay.
Yo, my homies! Listen up, because I’ve got a story to tell you. It’s all about this super cool dude named Raijin, the god of thunder. This guy is seriously powerful, let me tell you. See, Raijin has this awesome ability that he grants to his most devoted follower.
Picture this: you’re the ultimate Raijin fan, and he’s like, “Hey, I’m gonna give you a special power!” And you’re all like, “Whoa, that’s intense!” This power lets you bring out one of your Bushi dudes from your Reserve and put it smack dab in any Province on your Map, no matter if you have a Stronghold there or not.
Now, I know what you’re thinking. “What’s a Bushi, and why would I wanna put it in some random Province?” Don’t worry, my friend, I’ve got you covered. A Bushi is like a super skilled warrior, and by summoning them to a Province, you’re basically putting them right on the front lines. It’s a strategic move, for sure.
So just imagine, you’re out there on the battlefield, and you’re like, “Hey Raijin, I need some backup!” And Raijin is all like, “No problem, I got you covered. Here’s a Bushi to help you out!” How awesome is that?
In the end, having Raijin on your side is a total game-changer. He gives you this incredible power to summon your toughest warriors to any Province you want, and that’s not something to take lightly. So next time you’re out there, planning your strategy, remember to call on Raijin for some serious thunder and lightning action.
I am here to talk about the sea deity, Ryujin. Let me tell you, Ryujin is quite a big deal. This powerful god comes with a special ability that allows the number one fan to get their hands on a Season card from the selection next to the game board. And get this, you have to pay the full Coin cost, just as if you were using a Train Mandate. Talk about dedication!
I am in awe of the mighty deity known as Hachiman, the God of War. If you are a dedicated follower, you will be rewarded with not one, but two Ronin tokens. These cherished tokens are bestowed upon you by the generous Hachiman, taken straight from the common pile.
Hey there! It’s me, Susanoo—the mighty God of the storms! When you worship me, I’ll reward you with Victory Points based on the number of Strongholds you control on the Map. Cool, huh?
I’m going to tell you about the moon god, Tsukuyomi. When you worship Tsukuyomi, he gives you 2 Coins from the common pile. Isn’t that amazing?
For example: In the Kami Turn, we resolve the Shrines from left to right. First, let’s look at Susanoo. DRAGONFLY and KOI both have 1 Force, so they are tied. However, KOI has higher Honor, so they earn 2 VP. This is because KOI currently has 2 Strongholds.
Next, we move on to Amaterasu’s Shrine. In this case, only DRAGONFLY has Force there, so they move to the top of the Honor Track.
Now, let’s focus on Hachiman. Both DRAGONFLY and LOTUS have 1 Force, so they are tied. However, since DRAGONFLY is at the top of the Honor Track now, they receive 2 Ronin tokens.
Finally, we come to Raijin. TURTLE has 1 more Force than KOI, so they have the advantage. They can Summon a Bushi in any Province of their choice.
Once we have resolved all 4 Shrines, we continue with the Political Phase. The next player will perform their Mandate Turn. However, if this was the third Kami Turn of the Season, the Political Phase ends and the War Phase begins.
