Variant Rules for Terror in Meeple City

Introduction

Hey there! I’m excited to share some cool variant rules for the board game Terror in Meeple City. These rules will add a new twist to the game and make it even more fun to play. So, let’s dive in!

The Underwater City

Imagine this: Meeple City has been hit by a huge flood, turning it into an Underwater City! In this variant, you’ll place the city tiles upside down, showing the flooded side. This means that the buildings will be partially submerged underwater.

Whenever a monster destroys a building, it sinks into the water and is removed from the game. To add a new challenge, the monsters cannot swim naturally. Instead, when they end their movement in a tile that is partially submerged, they have to spend an additional movement point to swim to a non-submerged tile.

Raging Fire

Another variant you can try is the Raging Fire. In this version, the city is engulfed in flames, making it even more chaotic. Each player starts with a fire token on one of their monster’s location tiles.

On their turn, players can choose to move the fire token to an adjacent tile or use it to attack a neighboring building. If a building is hit by the fire, it gets destroyed immediately. However, if a monster ends its movement on a tile with the fire token, it gets burned and loses one heart.

Alien Invasion

If you’re up for an extraterrestrial challenge, you can try the Alien Invasion variant. For this version, you’ll need the Alien Meeple Set. These alien meeples are placed randomly on the board (you can use a deck of cards to determine their locations).

During the game, if a monster is in the same tile as an alien meeple, they can choose to attack it. Instead of destroying the alien meeple, the monster carries it on their back. Each carried alien meeple gives the monster additional points at the end of the game.

However, be careful! At the end of each round, any alien meeples carried by monsters get zapped back to their original locations.

Conclusion

Those were just a few ideas to spice up your game of Terror in Meeple City. Remember, variants are all about experimenting and having fun. Feel free to mix and match these rules or come up with your own. So dive into the underwater city, battle the raging fire, or face off against the aliens. The choice is yours! Enjoy the game and unleash the terror!

When it comes to playing the game, there are different variations you can try. Each variant can be used on its own or combined with other variants, giving you even more options for a fun and exciting experience.

Fashionable Diet

In the “Fashionable Diet” variant, you have to be mindful of what you eat! At the end of the game, any Meeple that is not part of a complete set will make you lose 1 point. So make sure to choose your food wisely to maximize your chances of winning!

Tailor-made Monster

In the “Tailor-made Monster” variant, each player starts the game by receiving 3 cards of each type: Character, Power, and Secret Superpower. From these cards, you get to choose 1 of each type that you prefer to keep. The remaining cards are then put back in the box. This way, you can customize your monster and strategize your gameplay based on your chosen cards.

Baby Monsters

The “Baby Monsters” variant introduces adorable little monsters to the game. These baby monsters provide a new level of cuteness and challenge. You can choose to include them in your game for a fresh and exciting twist that will surely delight both kids and adults alike!

When I play this variant, I start the game with only 1 Character card. After my turn, I have the option to discard 1 Floor from my Stomach to get a second card. I draw 1 card from each deck, choose one to keep, and put the rest away. Each card I buy after the first one costs an extra Floor. I can buy multiple cards at the end of my turn as long as I have enough Floors to pay for them.

For example: If I want a third card, it will cost me 2 Floors. A fourth card will cost 3 Floors, and so on. Remember: The Floors I discard in this way go back to the box and don’t count for points at the end of the game!

Playing in Teams

In this game mode, we play in teams of two. Each team gets a Power card at the start, and both Monsters on the team share this card. Each player gets their own Character card and Secret Superpower, just like in the regular game. The two players on a team take their turns together and have 3 actions to split between them as they see fit. For example, if one player is in a good position, they can do all 3 actions. Once the 3 actions are done, both Monsters chow down at the same time. Then it’s the other team’s turn. Each player keeps the Meeples their Monster has eaten in their own Stomach. Any Floors that get gobbled up belong to the player who performed the action. At the end of the game, both players add up their scores (Character, Meeple, Floors, Teeth), but only the lower-scoring player’s points count. The team with the highest score wins.

Let’s imagine a game. In this game, there are two teams: Jeff and Britta, and Abed and Shirley. Each team has two players. Jeff’s score is 41 and Britta’s score is 34. If we add up their scores, we get a total of 75, which becomes their team score. Now let’s look at Abed and Shirley. Abed’s score is 24 and Shirley’s score is 49. If we add up their scores, we get a total of 73, which becomes their team score. So the team consisting of Jeff and Britta wins the game because their team score is higher. Abed and Shirley’s team score is lower, so they lose.

Now let me explain some specific rules about the Character cards in this game. There are different types of Character cards such as Shy, Mean, Seductive, Pacifist, Young, Tourist, Destructive, Glutton, and Seer. When you have one of these cards, you need to have more of the item in question than your teammate. You can even take a peek inside your teammate’s Stomach to see what they have.

Playing as a Team with More than 4 Players

Hey there! Let me tell you something cool – you can play with even more friends by using two copies of the game! It’s like taking the fun to a whole new level. Here’s how you can do it: Just put two game boards together, positioning the parks side by side. It’s like creating a mega city with double the excitement!

  • Start by building a massive city using all the awesome contents from both boxes. Get creative and make it amazing!
  • Next, gather your pals and form teams. You could have 2 teams of 3 Monsters or maybe 4 teams of 2 Monsters – it’s completely up to you!
  • Now, let’s talk rules. Each team will have a number of actions equal to the number of team members plus one. So, for example, if you have a team of 3, you’ll get 4 actions to do cool stuff!

And here’s the twist – your team score is determined by the lowest score of all team members. So make sure everyone is collaborating and working together to score big! It’s all about teamwork and friendly competition.

So what are you waiting for? Grab your friends, double the fun, and experience the game like never before. Trust me, it’s a blast!
