Hubs

Figuring out the distance to a craftsman (not a resource) is as simple as can be – you just need hubs. Hubs can be your own monument or another player’s. Once you’ve reached a hub, you can easily navigate from there to another hub or directly to the craftsman, as if you had started from there in the first place.
