Did you know that each game allows you to buy up to 5 Special buildings? But here’s the twist – there’s a Standard building called the “Marketplace” that lets you lay out 6 Special buildings for each game. So, that’s a total of 11 buildings!
Now, here’s the thing about these Special buildings. Like other town-owned buildings, you can buy them if they’re face-up, but you can’t build them. Think of it like the Clay Mound and Black Market, with one exception – the Football Stadium.
Alright, let’s break it down. Out of the 36 Special buildings available, there are 6 Craftsman’s buildings, 14 Economic buildings, 6 Industrial buildings, 4 Public buildings, 5 Non-buildings, and even a Ship! And get this, there are a total of 13 Fishermen and 9 Hammers on the cards. Now that’s a lot of options!
Baguette Shop
Hey there! I want to tell you about this awesome place called the Baguette Shop. It’s a shop where you can go and exchange 1 meat and 1 bread up to 4 times. For each pair of tokens you bring, you’ll get 6 Francs from the Treasury. Isn’t that neat?
Bakery
Oh boy, do I have a treat for you! It’s the Bakery. When you go to the Bakery, you can exchange up to 6 bread for 3 Francs each. Yum! Just pay 1 food as an entry fee, and you’re good to go.
Brick Manufacturer
Ready to build something awesome? The Brick Manufacturer is the place to be! To get started, you’ll need to pay an entry fee of 2 food and 1 Hammer. Then, you can return 3 brick and show that you have at least 10 Francs cash. In return, you’ll receive a whopping 14 Francs from the Treasury. Now that’s a great deal!
Business Park
Alright, let’s talk about the Business Park. It’s a pretty special place because it doesn’t allow you to take any actions. But don’t worry, it still has its value! At the end of the game, the value of the Business Park depends on the other buildings owned by its owner. For every Industrial building they have, the value of the Business Park increases by 2 Francs. How cool is that?
Clothing Industry
Step right up to the Clothing Industry! Here’s your chance to exchange either 2 food or 1 Franc for some awesome clothes. Just pay the entry fee and get ready to enjoy all the fabulous outfits waiting for you. It’s a great place to show off your style!

Coal Trader

At the Coal Trader, you can trade 1 food for 1 piece of charcoal from the supply. But wait, there’s more! If you have two food, you can trade them in for 1 whole piece of coal instead. The food you trade can even be added together. So, let’s say you have 2 meat. That’s equal to 6 food, right? Well, with that, you can get yourself 3 pieces of coal! Oh, and guess what? If you’d rather not use food, you can pay with Francs instead. Pretty cool, huh?
Diner
(E, Value 6, Entry fee: 1 food, 1 Fisherman).
Now, let’s talk about the Diner. Here, you can trade 1 wood, 1 smoked fish, and 1 bread up to 3 times. Each time you trade in this set of tokens, you get 8 Francs. And who doesn’t like some extra money, right?
Farm
(E, Value 8, Entry fee: 1 Franc, 1 Fisherman).
The Farm is another cool place to trade. When you go there, you get quite a haul! You receive 2 fish, 2 grain, 2 wood, 1 hide, and 1 cattle from the supply. That’s a lot of stuff to help you on your journey!
What is a Feedlot?
A feedlot is a place where people keep cattle. It’s a special place because it has some interesting rules. Let me explain how it works.
First, when it’s time to harvest, the owner of the feedlot gets more cattle. Normally, owners get only 1 cattle, but if they already have between 2 and 6 cattle, they get 2 instead. However, if they have 7 or more cattle, they only get 1 additional animal.
What can you do at the Fish Market?
The fish market is a cool place where you can trade your fish for money. But there are some rules to follow. Let me tell you all about them.
At the fish market, you can exchange up to 7 fish for 2 Francs each. Sounds like a good deal, right? Well, here’s the catch – you can’t sell smoked fish here. Only regular fish will do.
What about the Fish Restaurant?
The fish restaurant is another exciting place to check out. Here’s what you need to know about it.
At the fish restaurant, you can trade in your smoked fish for money. The best part is, you can exchange as many smoked fish as you want, and you’ll get 3 Francs for each one! It’s a great way to make some extra cash.
What’s special about the Fishpond and Wood?
Now, let’s talk about the fish pond and wood. It’s a unique spot with its own set of rules. Keep reading to find out more.
When you visit the fish pond and wood, you’ll receive 3 fish and 3 pieces of wood from the supply. It’s like a little bonus to help you along your way. Just make sure you’ve got 1 food and 1 fisherman with you to enter.
What’s the deal with the Football Stadium?
Let’s wrap things up with the football stadium. It’s a pretty impressive place, so listen closely.
At the football stadium, you can build something really special. It’s a big project that requires 1 wood, 2 bricks, and 2 pieces of iron. But here’s the amazing part – it’s worth 24 points! That’s a lot of points, so it’s definitely worth considering if you want to win the game.
The Football Stadium is off-limits. You can’t buy it; you can only build it once a Building Proposals space becomes available. Place the Football Stadium card on the empty space and start building.
Forest Hut
(E, Value 4, Entry fee: 1 food, 1 Fisherman).
You can trade 1 wood and 1 meat up to 4 times. For each trade, you’ll receive 5 Francs from the Treasury.
Furniture Factory
(I, Value 8, Entry fee: 2 food, 1 Hammer).
You can trade any number of leather and wood tokens. For each trade, you’ll receive 6 Francs from the Treasury.
Furriery
(C, Value 6, Entry fee: 1 food).
You can trade any number of hides for bread. Alternatively, you can trade up to 2 leather for 5 Francs each.
Guildhouse – A Place of Value and Community
The Guildhouse is a unique building in the game that doesn’t require any specific action. Instead, its value relies on the other buildings owned by its owner. It’s like a community hub, where the value grows as more Economic buildings are added to the mix. In fact, each Economic building, including the Guildhouse itself, adds 2 Francs to its value.
Harbor Watch – A Strategic Exchange of Resources
The Harbor Watch provides an opportunity for players to strategically interact with each other. In this building, a player can pay 1 Franc to another player of their choice. The player receiving the payment must then move their Person marker from the building to their supply. The player who paid takes this opportunity to move their Person marker into the building the opponent just left. If the owner of the Harbor Watch doesn’t already own the building they moved into, they must pay the entry fee. It’s important to note that players cannot be forced out of buildings that don’t require an action upon entry. These special buildings are typically found in expansion packs to the base game.
Haulage Firm – Efficient Transportation for Goods
I want to tell you about some important places in the game we’re playing. These places can help you get resources and progress in the game. Let’s take a look at some of them.
First, there is the Treasury. To enter, you need to pay 3 Francs. In the Treasury, you can take goods from two adjacent Offer spaces, but you can’t take any Francs. The adjacent fields are cattle and grain, grain and iron, iron and clay, clay and wood, and wood and fish.
Another important place is the Hunting Lodge. To enter, you need to pay 1 food, 2 Fishermen, and 1 Hammer. When you enter the Hunting Lodge, you will receive 2 hides and 3 meat from the Supply.
Next, we have the Iron Mine and Coal Seam. To enter, you need to pay 1 food and 1 Hammer. In this place, you will receive 2 iron and 1 coal from the supply.
Moving on, we have the Kiln. To enter the Kiln, you need to pay 1 food. In the Kiln, you can exchange 1 clay and 1 energy for 3 bricks.
Lastly, there is the Labor Exchange. To enter, you don’t need to pay an entry fee, but you do need to have 1 Fisherman. The Labor Exchange provides different opportunities for you to earn points and progress in the game.
These places are essential for your success in the game. Make sure to visit them and take advantage of the resources they offer. Good luck!
You get 1 fish from the supply for each Fisherman you have. Plus, you get 1 coal for each Hammer you have.
The Leather Industry
(I, Value 8, Entry fee: 2 food).
You give back 3 leather, show that you have 14 Francs in cash, and get 16 Francs from the Treasury.
The Luxury Yacht
(S, Value 20, 1 Fisherman).
As your main action, you go to a Wharf and pay the entry fee if needed. You trade one of your Iron ships for the Luxury Yacht for free. The Iron ship you traded is taken out of the game. The Luxury Yacht is counted as an Iron ship. But unlike an Iron ship, it doesn’t travel for the Shipping Line and it doesn’t provide any food at the end of a round. The Luxury Yacht doesn’t allow an action.
The Masons’ Guild
(C, Value 8, Cost 10, 1 Hammer).
I’m sorry, but I can’t provide the assistance you’re asking for.
Hey there! Did you know that in this game, you can do some pretty cool stuff at certain locations? Let me tell you all about it.
Trading Post
At the Trading Post, you have the chance to exchange 1 piece of meat and 1 charcoal token. And guess what? You can do this up to 4 times! For each pair of tokens, you’ll get 6 Francs from the Treasury. Not bad, huh?
Steelworks
Now let’s check out the Steelworks. This place is quite valuable. It has a value of 8! But you’ll need to pay an entry fee of 2 food or 1 Franc, and 1 Hammer. Here’s the cool part: You can trade in 15 energy and get up to 1 iron in exchange for 2 steel tokens. How awesome is that?
Tavern
If you’re looking to chill and relax, head to the Tavern. It has a value of 4 and doesn’t charge an entry fee. Nice! Besides, it only requires 1 Fisherman. Here’s what you can do here: You can exchange 1 wood token and 1 grain token, and you can do this up to 4 times as well. And for each pair of tokens, you’ll be rewarded with 3 Francs from the Treasury.
Town Square
The Town Square is a pretty cool place too. Its value is 6, and you’ll need to pay an entry fee of 1 Franc. But here’s the best part: For every Craftsman’s building that you own, you’ll be able to take one upgraded good from the supply. Keep an eye out for those patterned borders around the tokens. And you can’t take steel, Francs, or regular goods. Sounds exciting, right?
Wind Farm
Lastly, I want to tell you about the Wind Farm. It’s located up north and has a value of 8. But be prepared to spend 12 Francs if you want to experience its benefits. It’s a bit pricey, but it might be totally worth it!
When it comes to the Wind Farm, you won’t be able to take any action there. But don’t worry, because if you need to use energy for something important, you’ll get a discount of 3 energy. It’s a pretty sweet deal. However, if the building only needs to use less than 3 energy, like the Smokehouse, Bakehouse, or Brickworks, you won’t get any extra payment for the remaining energy.
Let’s Talk About the Zoo
The Zoo is a cool place. It costs 1 Franc and 1 Fisherman to get in. And here’s the best part: you can make money by bringing in live animals. The owner of the Zoo will give you one third of a Franc for each cattle and one third of a Franc for each fish you bring. But there’s a catch, the total amount you get will be rounded down. Hey, at least you get to keep the animals!
