Let’s talk about Banned VS. Gods and the matchups you should avoid. You’ll see a little icon next to certain gods indicating that they are banned. It’s best to steer clear of these gods when it comes to choosing your matchups. Why? Well, the matchup might not work well, it might not be exciting, or it could be seriously unbalanced.

Aeolus

The Master of the Winds

Let’s set up the game first. Take the Wind Token and place it next to the board. You can point it in any of the 8 directions to show which way the Wind is blowing.

At the end of your turn, you can change the direction of the Wind. Rotate the Wind Token to face any of the eight directions.

Remember, when moving your workers, they can’t go directly into the Wind. Be mindful of its power!

Charybdis

The Whirlpool Monster

Setup: I start the game with 2 Whirlpool Tokens on my God Power card.

End of My Turn: I have the choice to take a Whirlpool Token from my God Power card and place it on any empty space on the board.

Any Time: If both Whirlpool Tokens are on empty spaces, any worker that moves onto a space with a Whirlpool Token must immediately move to the other Whirlpool Token’s space. This move is in the same direction as their previous move. If a Whirlpool Token is built on or removed from the board, it goes back to my God Power card.

#image.jpg

Clio

The Muse of History

My Power: When I build my first three blocks, I place a Coin Token on each of them.

My Weakness: When it’s my opponent’s turn, they can’t use the spaces with my Coin Tokens, treating them as if they have domes on them.

Who I’m Banned Against: I cannot play against Circe or Nemesis.

Europa & Talus

The Regal Ruler and Her Loyal Guardian

Setup: I’ll put the Talus Token on my God Power card.

End of My Turn: I can move my Talus Token to a free space next to the Worker that I moved.

Whenever: We all think of the space with the Talus Token as having only a dome.

Meet Gaea

The Earth Goddess

Hey there! I’m Gaea, the Goddess of the Earth. Nice to meet you! When it comes to playing Santorini, choosing the right God card can make all the difference. And if you like having extra resources at your disposal, then you’ll love what I can do for you.

First things first – let’s talk about my setup. When you choose me as your God card, you get a special advantage right from the start. You see, you get not one, but two extra Workers! That’s right, my friend. These additional Workers are stored on your God Power card until you’re ready to use them.

Now, let’s get into my special ability. During any build action, when one of your Workers builds a dome, I can immediately place one of my Workers from your God Power card onto a nearby space at the ground level. Cool, huh? This means I can help you expand your presence on the board and create more opportunities for your future moves.

However, it’s worth noting that there are a few Gods who don’t quite see eye to eye with me. Specifically, I’m banned from playing against Atlas, Nemesis, and Selene. It’s nothing personal, I assure you. It’s just that our powers clash in a way that could cause some unintended consequences.

So, if you’re looking for a God card that can give you extra Workers and help you strategically build your way to victory, I’m the one for you. Together, we can make the earth beneath Santorini tremble!

Graeae

The Gray Hags

Setup: When I put down my Workers, I’ll place three in my color.

Your Turn: You get to decide which one of your Workers will do the building.

Not Allowed Against: Nemesis

Welcome to the realm of Hades!

I am the mighty Hades, the god of the Underworld. I hold a special power that can help you conquer this game.

When it’s your opponent’s turn, they won’t stand a chance because their workers won’t be able to move downwards. It’s a fantastic advantage that will leave them puzzled and outmaneuvered.

Just be mindful of one thing: my powers can’t be used against Pan. We have a complicated history, so I can’t interfere with his moves. But don’t worry – there are plenty of other opponents for you to face.

So, if you’re ready to embrace the darkness and dominate this game, Hades is the perfect choice for you. Join me in the Underworld and experience a one-of-a-kind power that will leave your adversaries bewildered!

Harpies

Fearsome Flying Creatures

When Your Opponent Plays: Every time your opponent’s worker moves, you must move it space by space in the same direction until it reaches a higher level or is blocked by another object.

Prohibited Against: Hermes, Triton

Hecate

Goddess of Magic

Let’s get started: Grab the Map A, Shield B, and 2 Worker Tokens. We’re going to hide the Map behind the Shield and secretly place our Worker Tokens on the Map, showing where our Workers are on the game board. Remember to place our Workers last.

When it’s my turn: I can move one of my Worker Tokens on the Map, just like it’s on the game board. And of course, I can build on the game board too, just like usual.

Any time I want: If one of my opponents tries to make a move that’s not allowed because of my secret Workers, their action is cancelled, and they lose the rest of their turn. If possible, I can even use their power to make their turns legal, without them knowing. It’s like a little secret advantage we have!

Not allowed to play with: Charon and Circe. They’re not invited to this game.

#image.jpg

The Goddesses of Fate: Moerae

Unleash Your Destiny

Get Ready: Grab the Map A, Shield B, and the Fate Token.

Behind my trusty Shield, I’ll choose a special 2 X 2 square of Fate spaces by sneaking my Fate Token onto the Map. And when I’m placing my Workers, I’ll make sure to put down three of my own color.

How I Triumph: If one of those pesky opponents tries to claim victory by stepping into one of my Fate spaces, they’re in for a big surprise. Because instead of them winning, it’s me who gets the last laugh!

Who Can’t Play: Sorry, Hecate and Nemesis won’t be joining in the fun this time.

#image.jpg

Nemesis

Goddess of Getting Even

Boom! It’s my turn! When none of your opponent’s workers are hanging out next to mine, guess what? I get to rearrange some things. I can make their workers move to the spaces I’m in, and they can do the same to me!

Watch out: This power doesn’t mix well with Aphrodite, Bia, Medusa, Terpsichore, or Theseus. Something about them just doesn’t jive with my style.

Siren: The Tempting Sea Nymph

Prepare to be lured!

Setting the Stage: Position the Arrow Token beside the game board, pointing in any of the 8 available directions to show where the Siren’s Song emanates.

Your Move: You have the option to forgo your usual turn. Instead, compel one or more of your opponents’ Workers to move one space in the direction indicated by the Siren’s Song. These Workers must be relocated to unoccupied spaces of any height.

#image.jpg

Tartarus

The Abyss-God

Ready to Go: Grab the Map A, Shield B, and an Abyss Token.

Put my Workers down first. Once everyone has their Workers on the board, hide the Map behind the Shield and sneakily plant my Abyss Token in an empty space. That spot becomes my Abyss.

Don’t Even Think About It: If any Worker makes the mistake of wandering into my Abyss, they’re out. No winning in there, folks.

Against the Rules for: Bia, Hecate, Moerae.

#image.jpg

Terpsichore

The Muse of Dancing

Now it’s your chance: You and your teammates can move all your workers first, and then all of you can start building.

Not allowed against: Hypnus, Limus, Tartarus.

#image.jpg

Urania

Muse of Astronomy

Your Move: When I move my Worker or build, I pretend that opposite edges and corners are next to each other, giving each space 8 neighbors.

Avoid: Aphrodite

In the game of Golden Fleece, there is a special variant for two players. This variant introduces a Ram figure. The person who touches the Ram figure is granted the blessing of a single God Power.

Getting Ready

When setting up the Island for the game, follow steps 1 and 2 from the “Setup” section of the game rules. Then, do the following:

Santorini Golden Fleece UltraFoodMess

If you want to play the game, just follow these steps:

First, select a God Power with the Golden Fleece icon and put it next to the board. Remember, everyone shares the same powers.

The oldest player goes first. They pick a color and place two Workers on any empty spaces on the board. Then, the other player does the same.

The player who placed Workers first puts the Ram figure on any empty space. The other player starts the game.

At the Start of Your Turn

If one of your Workers is next to the Ram figure, you get the God Power for the rest of your turn. This also includes any End of Turn powers.

Using Your Hero Powers

A Hero Power is an ability that you can use only once in the whole game. It’s like your special superpower that no one else can control.

In the Golden Fleece variant, you won’t be able to use a Hero Power. Hero Powers are specifically designed for 2-player games, and you can easily spot them by their purple back and the Helmet icon on the border.

Setting Up

Follow the instructions for the “God Power Setup” to get started.

Hero Powers are generally not as strong as God Powers.

For a fair and balanced game, it’s best to play Hero Powers against other Hero Powers.

If you want to level the playing field between players of different skill levels, you can have more experienced players choose a Hero Power for themselves and a God Power for their opponent.

Achilles

The Unpredictable Fighter

Now it’s your turn: I can build before and after I move my Worker piece on the board. This gives me a lot of flexibility and allows me to strategize in a dynamic way.

#image.jpg

Adonis

Unbelievably Good Looking

End of Your Turn: After I make a move, I get to select an opponent’s Worker. If it’s possible, that Worker has to be adjacent to one of my Workers by the end of their next turn.

#image.jpg

Atalanta

The Quick Hunter

Your Move: You got it! I can move my Worker as many times as I want.

#image.jpg

Bellerophon

The Pegasus Tamer

My Strategy: I can make my move by moving my Worker up two levels at once.

Meet Jason, The Leader of the Argonauts

Let me introduce you to Jason, the legendary leader of the Argonauts. He was a remarkable figure in Greek mythology, known for his exceptional exploits.
Now, let’s talk about his special ability:

During the game, Jason has an extra Worker of his own color. This additional Worker is not used immediately; instead, it’s stored on his God Power card until the perfect moment arises.

Here’s how it works:

When it’s your turn, you have the incredible option of using Jason’s extra Worker instead of your regular turn. Simply place this additional Worker on any unoccupied space along the perimeter of the game board, at the ground level. And guess what? This Worker gets to construct a building right away!

#image.jpg

Medea

The Enchanting Sorceress

End of My Turn: Hey there! Just a heads-up, I have some pretty nifty powers. So, once it’s my turn, I get to do this awesome thing – I can remove a block from under any of my neighboring workers who haven’t moved yet. And the best part? Any tokens on those blocks? Poof! Gone!

#image.jpg

Odysseus

The Clever Commander

My Turn Begins: When it’s my turn to play, I can strategically move any neighbor opposing workers to unoccupied corner spaces. This means I have the power to control the positioning of my opponent’s pieces.

#image.jpg

Polyphemus

The Massive Cyclops

End of Your Turn: So, when you’re finished taking your actions, if one of your Workers builds two domes on unoccupied spaces on the board, then I come into play. Yes, I’m Polyphemus, the towering Cyclops. And let me tell you, I’m not your average giant. I’m huge! With my incredible size comes incredible power. I have a special ability that makes me a force to be reckoned with.

#image.jpg

Theseus

The Minotaur has met his match.

End of My Turn: After I finish my turn, if any of my Workers are precisely two levels below any of my opponent’s neighboring Workers, I have the power to remove one of those opposing Workers from the game.
