Saboteur Variant Rules

Hey, fellow Saboteur enthusiasts! I want to share with you some awesome variant rules that spice up the game and make it even more exciting. So, gather your friends and get ready for a thrilling experience!

1.

Role Reversal

One of the coolest ways to switch things up is by swapping roles. Instead of always being a good-hearted miner, why not unleash your inner saboteur and play as one? It’s a whole new perspective that adds an extra layer of challenge and strategy to the game. Can you fool your friends into thinking you’re on their side, only to reveal your true colors when the time is right?

2.

Partner Sabotage

In this variant, you can team up with another player to unleash chaos on the other miners. You and your partner will secretly work together to disrupt their digging efforts and make sure they never find the gold. It’s a clever twist that encourages collaboration and deception. Just make sure you choose your partner wisely, as trust is a precious commodity in the world of saboteurs.

3.

Wildcard Madness

Are you ready for some unpredictable twists? With the wildcard variant, you’ll introduce special cards that can completely change the course of the game. These cards have unique abilities like swapping player roles, revealing hidden information, or even triggering unexpected events. It’s a wild ride that keeps everyone on their toes and adds an element of surprise to every turn.

4.

Time Pressure

If you’re craving a faster-paced game, this variant is perfect for you. Set a time limit for each round, forcing players to make quick decisions and rely on their instincts. The tension rises as the clock ticks away, making every move feel crucial. Can you stay focused under pressure and outsmart your opponents before time runs out?

5.

Treasure Hunting

In this variant, the game becomes a race to find the most valuable treasure. Each player receives a secret objective with a specific type of treasure they need to collect. Will you focus on gathering gold, or perhaps you’ll go after rare gemstones? The choice is yours, but remember, the other players won’t make it easy for you. Expect lots of twists, turns, and unexpected alliances in your quest for riches.

So, there you have it—some fantastic variant rules to take your Saboteur game to the next level. Pick your favorite or mix and match to create your own unique experience. No matter which variant you choose, one thing is for sure: the Saboteur world will never be the same again. Get ready to unleash your inner trickster and have a blast with your friends!

I’ll tell you a cool twist we add to the game to make things more exciting. When good dwarves unearth the treasure, only those dwarves with unbroken gear can share in the loot. It creates a bit of a competition among the treasure seekers, which adds an extra layer of fun.

The Middle Treasure

We also change the placement of the middle treasure. Instead of being 7 spaces away from the starting point, it’s now 8 spaces away. This means it takes longer to get to the treasure, but it also leaves two spaces between the middle treasure and the treasure spaces on each side.

Another thing to note is that we always know the exact number of saboteurs. In other words, we don’t have an “extra” dwarf card dealt out each round.

  • If there are 3 players, we have 1 saboteur, 2 dwarves, and the Middle Treasure variant. The saboteur wins 4 gold if they succeed.

Werewolf

Have you ever played the game Saboteur? It’s a fun game where you have to work as a team to find treasure. But did you know that there are different variants of the game, depending on how many players you have? Let me break it down for you:

  • 4 Players: In this version, there are 2 Saboteurs and 2 Dwarves. The rest of the game plays out as normal, but successful saboteurs only get 2 gold. This change balances the game a bit more, shifting the advantage towards the saboteurs.
  • 5 Players: Now there are 2 Saboteurs and 3 Dwarves. This time, there’s also a Werewolf variant and a Middle Treasure variant. In this version, the saboteurs win 3 gold.
  • 6 Players: With 2 Saboteurs and 4 Dwarves, the game gets more exciting. The Werewolf and Middle Treasure variants are still there, and the saboteurs win 4 gold this time.
  • 7 Players: Now we have 3 Saboteurs and 4 Dwarves. Like before, there’s a Werewolf variant. In this version, the saboteurs win 3 gold.
  • 8 Players: The game remains intense with 3 Saboteurs and 5 Dwarves. The Werewolf and Middle Treasure variants are present, and the saboteurs win 3 gold.
  • 9 Players: In this version, there are 4 Saboteurs and 5 Dwarves. The saboteurs win 2 gold.
  • 10 Players: Finally, in this version, there are 4 Saboteurs and 6 Dwarves. The Werewolf and Middle Treasure variants are back, and the saboteurs win 2 gold.

So, as you can see, depending on how many players you have, the game Saboteur can change quite a bit. Each variant brings its own excitement and challenges to the table. Have fun exploring them all!

Imagine this: we all close our eyes, and then the saboteurs – those sneaky troublemakers – open their eyes. They can instantly tell who their fellow saboteurs are, while the rest of us are none the wiser.

Meet the Selfish Dwarf

No matter how many of us are playing, let’s make sure to always include the gold digger with the red jacket in the mix. This gold digger is a real piece of work – a selfish dwarf, if you will. He’s got one goal in mind: to be the one who connects with the final gold nugget. If he manages to pull it off, he walks away with a whopping 4 gold points, leaving the rest of us with nothing. Talk about selfish!

Now, if another gold digger beats him to the punch and makes that final connection, our selfish dwarf is out of luck. He doesn’t get any gold points at all! So, we need to distribute one less card than the number of players to keep things fair.

No More Gold
