Ability: An ability is like a magical power that you can use without even having to do anything specific. It can give you an advantage, like getting a discount or a bonus, and it works whether or not the thing it’s connected to is turned on or used. Component: A component is something that’s important to the game. It could be an object, a person, or even a special place. It helps you do things in the game and can give you special abilities. Creature: A creature is a special type of object. It could be a mythical creature like a dragon or something else that has special powers. Destroy: To destroy something means to get rid of it in the game. When you destroy something, it goes away and you can’t use it anymore. Discount: A discount is like a sale or a special deal. It means you can get something for a lower price than usual. In the game, a discount makes it easier for you to use a component because it reduces the cost of using it. Dragon: A dragon is a special type of object in the game. Dragons are powerful creatures with special abilities and they can help you win the game. Essence: Essence is like a magical energy that you can use in the game. There are different types of essence, like calm, death, elan, gold, and life. Each type of essence has its own special powers and can be used to do different things. Essence Pool: Your essence pool is like a reserve of magical energy that you can use in the game. It’s not connected to any specific components, but it’s a resource that you can spend to pay for things in the game.
If you ever come across a rival’s effect known as Life Loss, there are two options for you. First, you can use a React power to ignore it. Alternatively, you can pay the specified number of Life. But here’s the catch: if you can’t pay the required Life, you have to lose 2 other essences from your pool, as long as you have them. It’s a bit tricky, but players who have passed can simply ignore any Life loss.
Now let’s talk about Mages. These are special components that come into play right from the start. Unlike artifacts, Mages cannot be destroyed.
Next up, we have Magic items. These are components you choose from the supply during setup. The interesting thing is that you can swap them when you pass.
And then there are Monuments. These are another type of component that you can claim from the center. Just like Mages, Monuments cannot be destroyed. They hold a special place in the game.
Finally, let’s talk about being “Passed”. When you pass, it means you cannot take any further action in that round. However, the good news is that you can completely ignore any Life loss that may come your way. And don’t worry, you still get to enjoy any essences that your rivals’ powers might provide.
A Place of Power: is something you can find in the center. It’s not an artifact and you can’t destroy it.
Placement Cost: is how much it costs in essences to put an artifact in place or claim a monument or Place of Power.
Power: is what happens when you use a component. Using a power means you have to straighten the component, take an action, pay the cost, and apply the effect.
React Power: is a power that you can use even when it’s not your turn. You can use a React power on a turned component if its cost doesn’t require turning that component.
Rivals: are your opponents, not you.
Straighten: is when you turn a sideways component back to its normal position, so you can use it again.
Turn: is when you turn a component sideways, usually as part of a power’s cost.
