Nemesis Objects and Items

Nemesis Objects and Items

Have you ever wondered what makes a villain truly menacing? Why are they able to strike fear into the hearts of heroes and audiences alike? Well, one of the secrets lies in the objects and items they possess. These seemingly ordinary things are transformed by the power of the villain’s dark intentions and become instruments of chaos. Let’s take a closer look at some nemesis objects and how they contribute to the rise of a formidable antagonist.

First, we have the classic nemesis weapon. This can take many forms, from a mystical staff to a deadly blade. The weapon is not just a tool for causing physical harm. It embodies the villain’s philosophy and represents their desire for power and control. It is a symbol of their determination to defeat the hero and achieve their wicked goals.

Next, we have the nemesis artifact. This object is usually imbued with some sort of supernatural or magical property. It can grant the villain incredible abilities or serve as a key to unlocking a greater source of power. The artifact is often the centerpiece of the villain’s plan, and its possession is crucial to their success.

And let us not forget about the nemesis talisman. This small trinket carries immense significance for the villain. It may be a family heirloom or a symbol of their twisted ideology. The talisman serves as a constant reminder of their past or a representation of their devotion to evil. Its mere presence can send shivers down your spine.

These nemesis objects may seem insignificant on their own, but they have the power to change the course of a story. They elevate the villain from a mere antagonist to a force to be reckoned with. They help to create the sense of impending doom and generate a strong emotional response from the audience.

So, the next time you encounter a villain and their nemesis objects, remember the role they play in the grand scheme of things. They are not just props or accessories. They are the physical manifestation of the villain’s malevolence, and they are an integral part of the battle between good and evil.

When it comes to survival, having the right items is crucial. They can be the difference between life and death. Now, let’s talk about how you can acquire them:

  • At the start of the game, each character is given one item card, a weapon that will aid them in their journey.
  • Additionally, each character is given two quest items. These cards are placed face down and will be revealed once their requirements are met.
  • Throughout the game, characters can also find items in different rooms by using the search action card.
  • Another way to obtain items is by crafting them. Characters can use the craft basic action to create special crafted items by combining other items they already possess.

During my game, I might come across some interesting things, such as Heavy Objects. These Heavy Objects can include a Character Corpse, an Intruder Carcass, or some Eggs. They’re not represented by cards but by special tokens or miniatures. I can pick them up and carry them around with me. It’s important to remember that some Items are marked as One Use Only. Once I use them, I have to discard their card.

Here’s what you need to know about item cards:

  1. Blue Component icon: This means that the card can be used as a component for the Molotov Cocktail during a Craft Action.
  2. “Out of Combat Only” icon: This icon tells you if the item can only be used during Combat, out of Combat, or anytime (in which case, there’s no icon in the upper right corner).
  3. One Use Only: Bandages, for example, can only be used once and are discarded after use. After using the Bandages Item Action, the card is placed in the appropriate discard pile.
  4. Action Cost: To perform this Action, you need to discard 1 Action card.
  5. Action effect: This describes the different effects of the Action. For instance, you can use Bandages to dress 1 Serious Wound or to Heal all Light Wounds.

Hey there! Let’s talk about character hands and inventory in the game. You’ll find two types of Item cards: Heavy Items and normal Items. The Heavy Items are kept in your character’s hands, while the normal Items go into your inventory. And don’t forget, characters can also carry Heavy Objects tokens.

Your Inventory

Your inventory is a special place where you can keep all your normal Items hidden from the other players. Just put them in your inventory, which is a plastic card holder. That way, no one can see the front of the cards, only the backs.

The other players can see the color of the Items in your inventory, but they don’t know exactly what’s in there. But remember, if you decide to use an Item card, you have to show it to everyone.

Here’s the cool part: you can have as many Items as you want in your inventory. So feel free to collect as many as you can!

#image.jpgAll About Heavy Items and Objects

When you see the Hand icon next to an item, it means that item is heavy. Heavy items, like weapons, can’t be kept secret from other players and cannot be put in your inventory.

When you come across a heavy item or want to pick up a heavy object that you want to keep, you have to put it in one of the two hand slots of your character. This means that your character can carry a maximum of 2 heavy items or objects.

If your character’s hand slots are already full and you find another heavy item or want to pick up another heavy object, you have to drop one of the heavy items or objects you are already carrying.

When you find a weapon by searching, it comes with 1 ammo token. A weapon cannot hold more ammo than its capacity, which is shown on the weapon card.

Sometimes, you can add an item card to another item card, like the Extended Magazine or the Autoloader. This means that the added item is placed next to the indicated item card. From now on, both cards are treated as one.

Important: The Duct Tape item card allows you to combine two heavy items, so they only take up one hand slot. But remember, this rule doesn’t apply to objects! Important: A weapon can never exceed its ammo capacity, which is shown on the weapon card.

Heavy items are item cards that show the hand icon. Heavy objects are tokens, such as Intruder Eggs (usually found in the Nest Room), Character Corpse (representing either a dead character or the body found in the Hibernatorium at the start of the game), and Intruder Carcass (a Carcass token placed after the death of any Intruder, except Larvae).

Drop

You know, when I’m playing this game, I can just drop any item or object I have without using an action. Simple as that.

  • Objects stay in the room where I drop them.
  • Items are gone for good – I just toss their card away.

This spaceship is like a treasure trove. Seriously, if you take the time to look around the room, you’ll find all sorts of useful stuff. There’s a fire extinguisher, perfect for putting out fires, and those chemicals with a Zippo can double as a flamethrower if you’re feeling creative.

Searching

Aside from the special items each character gets – 1 weapon and 2 quest items – there are four different colored items in the game: red (military), yellow (technical), green (medical), and blue (crafted).

Out of these, the red, yellow, and green decks have items that you can find in rooms when you search.

When I’m searching for items, it’s important that the color of the item matches the color of the room I’m searching in. For example, if I’m in a yellow room, I should look for yellow items. I can easily identify a room’s color by looking at the background color under its name and rule text.

During a search action, if I’m in a white room, I have the option to draw from any of three decks. However, each time I perform a search action in a room, the item counter for that room goes down by one. Once the item counter reaches zero, the room is completely empty, and I won’t be able to search it anymore.

There are a few exceptions to this rule, though. The Scout’s Scavenging Action is one of them.

Search Example: The best search engine for all your needs.

When I’m in the Cabins, I like to go on a Search Action as a Scout. It’s exciting to see what I can find! First, I discard a Search Action card and decrease the Item Counter by one.

The Cabins are a white Room, which means I get to draw 2 Item cards from any one Item deck. I decide to look for weapons and ammunition, so I draw from the Red Item deck.

Now, here’s where things get interesting. I have to choose which card I want to keep, but I don’t want the other players to know. So, I secretly decide to keep the Energy Charge and discard (face-down) the Grenade back into the Red Item deck. I put the Energy Charge into my Inventory, but I make sure to show only the back of the card to the other players.

Crafting

The fourth deck of Item cards is called the Blue deck, and it contains Crafted Items. These Items are special because you can’t find them by searching the Rooms. Instead, you can assemble them using other Items you already have. It’s like building something new!

Hey there! Did you know that you can check out the Crafting deck anytime you want during the game? It’s pretty cool. The cards in this deck aren’t drawn during the game, though. Instead, when you want to Craft an Item, you can find the Crafted Item card that matches what you want and take it.

Now, let me tell you a bit about these Crafted Item cards. They have 2 grey Component icons on them. These icons show you the Components you need to gather in order to build the Item. Simple, right?

When you’re crafting items in a game, you’ll often come across item cards that can be used as components. These cards have a blue component icon, which shows you that they represent a specific component. By discarding the card, you can use that component to build a crafted item.

Building a Crafted Item requires a few steps. First, you need to perform a Craft Item Basic Action. While doing this, you must discard two Item cards that display the blue Component icons that match the grey Component icons of the Crafted Item you want to build. The first Item card should correspond to the first required Component icon, while the second Item card should correspond to the second required Component icon.

Throughout the game, you have the option to build four different Crafted Items.

Hey there! I wanna tell you all about Crafted Items and Quest Items. It’s super important to know how they work, so let’s dive in!

Crafted Items

If you want to build a Crafted Item, you gotta make sure you have its card. Without the card, you can’t make the item, even if you have all the blue components you need. So make sure you’ve got that card handy!

Quest Items

Now, let’s talk about Quest Items. They’re a bit different than Crafted Items. You can’t use them right away. Nope, each Quest Item has a special condition that you gotta meet before you can unlock and use it during the game. The condition is written on the side of the item’s card, so keep an eye out for that!

When you activate a Quest item, you can flip it and use it like a regular item. You can hold it in your hand, get rid of it, or even give it to someone else.

Players in Space

Traveling through space can be a long and challenging journey. Being cooped up in a small metal spaceship for an extended period of time can create tensions among the crew. To avoid serious conflicts, space corporations have invested a lot of money in equipping their crews with special implants that create a psychic barrier, preventing direct violence towards fellow humans.

Even though crew members cannot attack each other directly, they can still indirectly harm others through their actions. For example, in a dangerous situation like a room on fire, someone might accidentally cut off another person’s escape route. There are countless possibilities for unintended consequences, such as activating a self-destruct mechanism or throwing a grenade at an intruder while other crew members are present.
