Mage Knight Level Ups

I’m sure you’ve heard of Mage Knight, the popular collectible miniatures game. If you’re a fan of the game or someone who enjoys strategy and fantasy, leveling up your Mage Knight characters is an important aspect to consider.

When I first started playing Mage Knight, I was amazed at the depth and complexity of the game. It’s a game that challenges you to think strategically, plan your moves carefully, and make tough decisions.

Leveling up your characters in Mage Knight is a key part of the game. It allows you to enhance your character’s abilities, gain new powers, and become more powerful overall.

So, how do you level up in Mage Knight? It’s actually quite simple. When you defeat enemies or complete quests, you earn experience points. These experience points can be used to level up your characters. Each character has a specific set of abilities and powers that you can choose from when leveling up. This adds a dynamic element to the game, as you can choose different paths for your character and tailor their abilities to your play style.

But leveling up isn’t just about gaining new abilities. It also allows you to increase your character’s attributes, such as their strength, agility, and intelligence. This makes your character more versatile and capable in different situations.

In addition, leveling up your characters can also unlock new items and equipment. These items can give you an edge in battles and help you overcome challenges more easily. It’s exciting to see how your character progresses and becomes more powerful with each level up.

So, the next time you play Mage Knight, remember the importance of leveling up. It’s not just a way to gain new abilities or increase your power – it’s an essential part of the game that adds depth and strategy. By focusing on leveling up your characters, you’ll be able to create a formidable team and achieve victory in the world of Mage Knight. Are you ready to level up and become a legendary Mage Knight?

Here’s how leveling up works in the game. You don’t do it right away – instead, you wait until you finish your turn but before you draw new cards. This means that other players can still take their turns while you’re leveling up. If you gain multiple levels in one turn, you go through each level one at a time.

There are two types of level ups, and you can tell which one to use by looking at the symbol on the left of the row where your Shield token moved to.

The Advanced Cards Offer

When the first player levels up, three cards are revealed from the Advanced Actions deck. These cards are displayed in a column as the Advanced Action offer.

Note: Just so you know, in the next games, this offer is shown right at the beginning. But for the first game, it’s better to do it this way, so you don’t have to look at three more cards that you don’t even know how to get yet.

Improving Skills

When you reach the second level on the Fame track, you’ll see this symbol. It’s important because it means you’ll receive a Skill token and an Advanced Action card.

If you’re the first player to reach level 2, you reveal two Skill tokens from your Skill pile. Take a look at your Skill description card to see what these tokens do.

Now, you have to choose one of these Skill tokens to keep in front of you, while the other one goes into the Common skill offer. Starting from the next turn, you can use the Skill token you chose.

In addition to the Skill token, you also get to choose one card from the Advanced Action offer. This card goes on top of your Deed deck, and then a new card is added to the offer. The cards in the offer are shifted down, and the new one is always placed on top.

When I reach level 2 in the game, I resolve my Level up just like the first player did. But now, I have an extra option. I can choose a Skill token from the Common Skill offer. The first player couldn’t do this because there were no tokens available in the Common Skill offer yet.

Learning From Others

Once I reveal my two Skill tokens, I have a choice. I can refuse both tokens and take one from the Common Skills offer instead. This means I choose a token that another player didn’t take when they leveled up. I put the chosen token in front of me and put the two tokens I refused back into the Common Skill offer. However, I can’t choose a Skill that I already rejected before.

And just so you know, I also get to choose one Advanced Action card. But this time, there’s a catch – I can’t just pick any card from the offer. Nope, I can only take the one that’s at the very bottom of the Advanced Action offer. Talk about restrictions, right?

Leveling Up Commands

If you move forward to a level with this symbol, you don’t have to make any decisions – simply remove the top tile from your Level pile, flip it over, and place it as a new Command token in your Unit area. This will increase your Command limit, giving you a new Command token to use, and either your Armor or Hand limit will increase as well, with new values on your visible Level token.

Using Skills

Skills are incredibly powerful because they give you more options each turn, and you don’t even have to draw them into your hand to use them. Choose the Skills that work well with your cards, Units, and overall strategy.

There are three types of Skills:

  • #image.jpgWhen a Skill token has a flipping arrow, it can only be used once per Round. After you use it, you flip it face down. You must wait until the next Round to use it again, when you flip it face up. Keep in mind that some Skills, like drawing extra cards, can be used during another player’s turn. Note: You can use the Motivation skill on another player’s turn, allowing you to plan ahead. However, you cannot use it after your last turn in a Round.

These are special abilities that you can use in the game. They stay active until your next turn and can also affect other players. To use a skill, place it in the center of the table and explain what it does to everyone. At the start of your next turn, take it back and flip it face down. You can’t use it again until the next round.

  • If a skill token doesn’t have any of the icons mentioned above, you can use it once per turn. After you use it, place it in your play area to show that it’s been used. You can stack it with other cards or units that have similar abilities.
