Let’s Play Wing It: The Rules
Hey there! Ready to learn all about the awesome game Wing It? Well, you’ve come to the right place! I’m here to give you the lowdown on how to play this exciting game. Trust me, you’re going to love it!
Setting Up the Game
So, let’s start by getting everything ready. You’ll need a deck of Wing It cards and at least three players. Each player should have a pen and some paper handy. Got everything? Great!
How to Play
The goal of Wing It is to create hilarious and imaginative stories on the fly. Each player takes a turn being the “guesser,” while the other players are the “storytellers.” The guesser draws a card and keeps it hidden from the storytellers.
Now, the guesser picks a category from the card, like “person,” “place,” or “thing.” They share the category with the storytellers, but keep the specific details to themselves. The guesser might say something like, “I need a person who can fly.”
Once the category is chosen, the storytellers have one minute to come up with a character that fits the category. They can be as silly and creative as they want! They write down their character on their paper and pass it to the guesser.
Here comes the fun part! The guesser reads each character description out loud and tries to guess who wrote it. The guesser might say, “I think Lucy wrote this description!”
If the guesser gets it right, they earn a point. But if they’re wrong, the storyteller who wrote the description earns a point. The guesser rotates, and the game continues with new categories and new characters.
Winning the Game
The game ends after a set number of rounds, or when everyone agrees it’s time to wrap things up. The player with the most points at the end is crowned the Wing It champion!
Let’s Get Started!
Now that you know the rules, it’s time to gather your friends and start playing Wing It! Get ready for lots of laughter and unforgettable stories. You’re going to have a blast!
Let me tell you about an amazing game I’ve found. It’s all about telling stories and solving problems. We all face the same difficult situations, but we each have our own unique resources to help us get through them.
While only one person can win each round, the real excitement comes from the stories we create!

What You’ll Need
- A Deck of Object Cards
- A Deck of Situation Cards
- Instructions
Getting Started
First, make sure you have all the necessary components. Shuffle the Object deck (small cards) and the Situation deck (large cards) separately and place them face-down on the table. Each player should draw five Object cards from the deck. Keep your cards hidden from the other players.
Now, it’s time to determine who will be the Judge for the first round. You can choose the Judge however you like, maybe the person who had the craziest outdoor adventure experience. The remaining players will be the Storytellers.
Getting Started with Each Round
Hey there! Let’s dive right into the fun of starting a new round. It’s always exciting to begin a fresh game, with new challenges and opportunities awaiting us. So, here’s what you need to know to get started!
1. Understand the Rules: Before you begin, it’s crucial to understand the rules of the game. Take a look at the instructions or ask someone to explain them to you. Understanding the rules will help you play the game properly and maximize your chances of winning. 2. Gather Your Resources: Now that you know the rules, it’s time to gather all the resources you need to play the game. This may include cards, dice, tokens, or any other items necessary for gameplay. Make sure you have everything you need before you begin. 3. Set Up the Game Board: If the game has a board, set it up according to the instructions. Place the cards, tokens, or any other game pieces in their designated spots. Setting up the game board correctly is important for smooth gameplay and fair competition. 4. Shuffle and Deal: If the game involves cards, shuffle them thoroughly to ensure fairness. Then, deal the cards to each player, following the rules of the game. This step is essential for distributing the resources and starting the game with an equal chance for everyone. 5. Determine the Starting Player: Some games require determining the starting player. This can be done through various methods, such as rolling a dice or using a specific card. Whatever the method, make sure it’s fair and agreed upon by all players. 6. Follow the Turn Order: Now that the starting player has been determined, it’s time for everyone to take turns. Pay attention to the turn order and wait for your chance to play. Remember, each player deserves a fair opportunity to participate. 7. Begin Playing: Finally, it’s time to begin the game! Follow the instructions and make your moves according to the rules. Remember to have fun, strategize, and adapt your tactics as the game progresses. Enjoy the journey and embrace the excitement of each new round.
That’s it! Now you’re all set to start a new round of your favorite game. Have a great time, and may the odds be ever in your favor!
So, here’s the deal: the Judge picks a card from the Situation deck and reads out what it says. Then the Judge puts the card faceup in the middle of the table. Now, here’s where the fun starts. Each of us, as Storytellers, has to imagine that we’re in that exact Situation described by the Judge. And here’s the challenge: we have to figure out a way to solve that Situation using only three Objects.
Take your time to read the Situation card again if you need to. And once you’ve got your plan all figured out, lay down the three Objects you want to use facedown on the table to show that you’re ready to share your story.
Once everyone’s ready, it’s time for the Storyteller sitting to the left of the Judge to go first. They have to describe how they’re going to use their three Objects to tackle the challenge in the Situation. Oh, and by the way, you can also explain how you ended up with those Objects or just assume that you magically have them at your disposal. The choice is yours!
As you’re telling your story, remember to place each Object face-up in front of you, one by one, as it appears in your amazing tale.
Once I finish telling my story, it’s your turn to share yours. We’ll go around the circle, taking turns, until everyone has had a chance to speak.
When we’re all done, the Judge will give us feedback on our stories and choose a winner for this round. Remember, the judging is completely subjective. The Judge will consider different things when evaluating the stories:
- How well the plan of action resolved the situation.
- How creatively the three Objects were used, whether individually or together.
- How funny the story was.
- How well the story was presented.
- The likelihood of the proposed plan actually working!
The winner gets to keep the Situation card.
When I play the game, I start by discarding the three cards I used face-up into a discard pile to the side of the Objects deck. Then, I draw three new objects to add to my hand. It’s always exciting to see what new cards I get!
After I’ve done that, a new round begins, and the player to the left of me becomes the Judge. It’s their turn to be in charge and judge the combinations that we come up with.
The End of the Game
The game continues until someone collects three Situation cards, OR until everyone has had two turns. The player who achieves this is the winner! But the best part is that the fun doesn’t have to end there. We can keep playing for as long as we want and enjoy the game even more!

Optional Rules
Time Limit for Planning: Once you read the Situation, start a timer for 1 minute. When the time is up, the player to your left will begin telling their story. You may find that you need less time in later rounds.
Time Limit for Storytelling: When each player starts telling their story, start a one-minute timer. The player must finish their story before the time runs out. This is helpful when you have friends who can go on for a long time!
Trading Cards: After each round, every player can trade in between one and three cards at the start of the next round, before the new Situation is revealed. The cards you trade in will go to the bottom of the Object deck.
