UNO Flash Game Rules
Welcome to the exciting and fast-paced world of UNO Flash! In this game, it’s all about being quick on your feet and thinking strategically. Let me walk you through the rules so you can jump right in and start having a blast!
Setting up the Game
Before we get started, let’s make sure the game is set up correctly. Each player should grab a UNO Flash unit and turn it on. You’ll also need to insert the deck of UNO cards into the card shooter, which is located on top of the unit. Make sure everyone knows where the “UNO” button is, as this will come into play later.
The Objective
The goal of UNO Flash is to be the first player to get rid of all your cards. The game is played in rounds, and the player with the highest score at the end of the round is declared the winner.
Gameplay
Now that we’re all set up, it’s time to dive into the gameplay! The game will begin with a countdown and then a random player will be chosen to start. When it’s your turn, the unit will light up and make a sound to let you know it’s your time to shine. Be ready!
To play a card, simply match the color or number of the card shown on the unit’s screen. If you don’t have a matching card, you’ll need to press the “UNO” button to skip your turn. But be careful, because if you forget to press the button and someone else notices, you’ll have to draw extra cards as a penalty!
Special cards, such as Skip, Reverse, and Draw Two, add a twist to the game. When you play one of these cards, the next player’s turn is either skipped, the direction of play is reversed, or they have to draw two additional cards. Keep an eye out for these cards, as they can help you gain an advantage!
The game continues in this way, with players taking turns and playing cards until someone runs out of cards. Once a player has played their last card, the round ends and everyone’s scores are calculated.
Scoring
Scoring in UNO Flash is simple. At the end of each round, each player counts the total value of the cards they have left in their hand. Number cards are worth their face value, while special cards are worth 20 points each. The scores are added up, and the player with the highest score is the winner!
Conclusion
Now that you know the rules of UNO Flash, it’s time to gather your friends and start playing! Remember, speed and strategy are key in this game. So, be quick on your feet, think ahead, and most importantly, have a blast!

In the UNO Flash Game Unit, you will find:
- 1 UNO Flash Game Unit
- 19 Blue cards – 0 to 9
- 19 Green cards – 0 to 9
- 19 Red cards – 0 to 9
- 19 Yellow cards – 0 to 9
- 8 Draw Two cards – 2 each in blue, green, red and yellow
- 8 Skip cards – 2 each in blue, green, red and yellow
- 8 SLAP cards – 2 each in blue, green, red and yellow
- 4 Wild cards
- 4 Wild Draw Four Cards
The objective of the game is to race against the timer and your opponents to be the first player to discard all of your cards in each round. The winner of each round earns points based on the cards that other players are left with. These points accumulate in each round, and the first player to reach 500 points wins the game.
Game Setup

- First, decide how fast you want to play. Use the Speed Switch on the bottom of the unit to choose your speed. Then, flip the On/Off Switch to turn it on. Flip the unit over.
- Every player picks a card; the player with the highest number becomes the dealer (don’t count any card with a symbol, it’s worth zero).
- The dealer shuffles and gives each player 7 cards.
- Put the rest of the deck face down on one side of the tray. This is our DRAW pile.
- Turn over the top card from the DRAW pile to start the DISCARD pile on the other side of the tray. Note: If the DISCARD pile starts with an Action Card (symbol), check the FUNCTIONS OF ACTION CARDS for special rules.
Imagine you’re about to embark on an exciting game. To get started, every player needs to press the Player Button in front of them. This button becomes your own personal Player Button for the duration of the game.
Once everyone is ready, press the Play/Pause Button to kick off the game. No time to waste because the unit will quickly determine who gets to go first. Get ready for some thrilling action – make sure you don’t blink!

Restart or Begin Again
If you need to stop the game for a moment or if the unit falls asleep because no one is playing, just press the Play/Pause Button to pick up where you left off. If one of the Player Buttons is blinking, press it and the unit will automatically switch to the next player.
If you want to start a whole new game, you can reset the unit by holding down the Play/Pause Button and the SLAP Buttons at the same time for about 3 seconds. When you see and hear the lights and sounds, you’ll know the reset was successful.
Game Play
When the Player Button lights up, it’s your turn and the clock is ticking!
On your turn, you need to find a card in your hand that matches the card on top of the discard pile. This can be done by matching the number, the color, or the symbol on the card (symbols represent Action Cards).
For example: If the card on the discard pile is a red 7, you need to put down a red card OR any color 7. Alternatively, you can play a Wild card.
If you don’t have a card that matches the one on the DISCARD pile, you must take a card from the draw pile. If the card you picked up can be played, you can put it down in the same turn.
You can also choose NOT to play a playable card from your hand. In that case, you have to draw a card from the draw pile. If the card you draw is playable, you can put it down in the same turn. But remember, you can’t play any other card from your hand after drawing.
Once I finish my turn, I need to make sure I press my Player Button. Right after that, the next player will be chosen. But be careful, it could be me again!
If I don’t press my Player Button before the buzzer goes off, I have to draw two cards from the DRAW pile. It’s a penalty for taking too long. I’ll need to add those cards to my hand.
Remember: If I play the SLAP card on my turn, I don’t need to press my Player Button. Instead, I should press the SLAP Button.
Action Cards
Draw Two Card

When you play this card, the next player I choose has to draw 2 cards and skip their turn (even if it’s you!).
The player who draws the 2 cards has to do it quickly and press their own Player Button before time runs out. If they don’t, they have to draw 2 more cards.
You can only play this card on a card that has the same color or on another Skip card. If this card is the first one to be played, the same rule still applies.
Skip Card

When you use this card, the person who is supposed to go next doesn’t get to take their turn. Even though they’re skipped, they still have to press their button before time runs out. So, no slacking off!
You can only play this card on a card that has the same color, or on another Skip card. If a Skip card is the first card played, the same rule still applies.
The Wild Card

When you play this card, you can pick any color to continue the game. It can be the same color as the card just played or any other color. Make sure to announce your chosen color quickly or else you might anger the next player!
You can play a Wild card even if you have another card that you can play. If a Wild card is the first card played, the player selected to go first decides which color to continue with.
Wild Draw Four Card

When I play this card, I can choose the color that the game will continue with, and the next player that I select will have to draw 4 cards from the DRAW pile and skip their turn, even if that player is me!
The player who has to draw the 4 cards can take their time to do so. However, there is a condition to playing this card!
I can only play this card when I don’t have any other card in my hand that matches the color of the card on the discard pile. But it’s okay to play this card if I have a card with the same number or an Action Card.
If this card is turned up at the beginning of the game, I have to return it to the deck and pick another card. If this card comes up again at the start, I have to return it to the deck and select another card.
Note: If you think someone played a Wild Draw Four card on you when they actually had a matching card, you can call them out on it. The player you challenge has to show you their hand.
If they indeed had a matching card, they have to draw the 4 cards themselves. But if they were innocent and didn’t have a matching card, you have to draw the 4 cards and 2 more cards on top of that (6 cards total)!
Slap Card

As soon as you lay down this card, get ready for some serious fun! Just press the SLAP Button on the game unit once you’ve played the card (but be careful not to press your Player Button).
As soon as you do, the game unit will immediately go into Slap mode and it’s a race for everyone to slap (press) their own Player Buttons as quickly as possible. The Player Button of the slowest player to slap will start flashing, and that unlucky player will have to draw 2 penalty cards.
To get back into the game, just press the flashing Player Button. If this card is turned up at the beginning of the game, put it back in the deck and draw another card instead.
Remember: If you accidentally press the Player Button instead of the SLAP Button after playing this card, you cancel the SLAP action and the game continues as usual.
Time to Get Going
When you’re down to your second-to-last card, it’s crucial to shout “UNO” (which means “one”) to let everyone know that you only have one card left. If you forget to shout “UNO” and someone catches you before the next player starts their turn, you’ll have to pick up two more cards.
Once a player gets rid of all their cards, the round comes to an end. Points are tallied up (see SCORING) and a new round begins.
If the very last card played in a round is a Draw Two or Wild Draw Four card, the next player will have to draw 2 or 4 cards, respectively. These cards are included in the final score.
If no player has gotten rid of all their cards by the time the DRAW pile is empty, the DISCARD pile gets shuffled back in and the game continues.
Scoring
When we play this card game, the goal is to be the first one to get rid of all our cards. I’m really excited to be playing with you! So, here’s how the scoring works:
- If you have a number card (any number from 0 to 9): You get points equal to that number.
- If you have a Draw Two card: You get 20 points.
- If you have a Skip card: You get 20 points.
- If you have a SLAP card: You get 20 points.
- If you have a Wild card: You get 50 points.
- If you have a Wild Draw Four card: You get 50 points.
At the end of each round, we add up the points for all the cards left in our opponents’ hands. The player who got rid of their cards first gets to score all those points. It’s like a reward for winning the round!
If, after adding up the points, no player has reached 500 points yet, we reshuffle the cards and start a new round. So, even if you didn’t win this time, don’t worry! There’s always a chance to catch up in the next round.
End of the Game
Do you know what the ultimate goal is in this game? It’s to be the first player to reach 500 points! Once you reach that milestone, you become the ultimate winner.
Alternative Scoring And Winning
Here’s another way to make it interesting. Instead of just focusing on reaching 500 points, we can keep track of the points at the end of each round. Every time we finish a round, we write down how many points each player has left. When one player reaches 500 points, the player with the fewest points becomes the winner. It’s like a twist in the game that keeps us on our toes!
Targeted Draw 2 & Wild Draw 4 Cards
Are you looking to add a little spice to your card game? Do you want to have more control over who gets penalized? Well, get ready for a whole new way to play the Draw 2 and Wild Draw 4 cards!
Before starting the game, make sure that everyone agrees to play with these alternative rules. Now, when you play one of these Action Cards, instead of leaving it up to chance, you get to choose which opponent takes the penalty. How do you do it? Simply call out the player’s name!
There’s no need to press any buttons or rush. You can take your time and let the targeted player draw the appropriate number of cards. It’s a fun and strategic twist to the classic game!
