I’ll randomly select three of them and place them in the corresponding slots on the Fortune Teller orb. The remaining Prophecies will form a face-down pile next to the Main Game Board, but remember, there won’t be an Active Prophecy in the first turn.

During the ‘Assignment’ and ‘Place Characters’ phases, players can also choose to utilize the Dark Alley Location. This is where things get interesting. Now, there are two key differences between Permanent and Special Assignment cards:



• Special Assignment cards are unique and can only be utilized once. When the ‘End Turn’ phase arrives, any Special Assignment cards that have been employed are placed in a discard pile, facing downwards.

Each Special Assignment card comes with a special bonus. This bonus is designed to enhance a specific Action at the location shown on the card. However, keep in mind that the bonus only applies to one such Action, even if you perform that Action multiple times with the same Character. The only exception to this rule is the ‘Traveling Merchant’ card.

When you place a Character using a Special Assignment card, you have the freedom to choose any Action at the Location indicated on the card. However, if you choose an Action that is not enhanced by the card, you will lose the bonus. Some cards have a “?” printed on them, indicating that the bonus can be applied to any Action at that Location, but only once.

Remember, you always have the option to forfeit the Special Assignment’s ability and instead gain +1 energy at that Location.
