Welcome to Tiki Topple!
Are you ready to embark on a thrilling adventure through the vibrant world of Tiki Topple? Say no more! In this game, each player will be competing to collect the most valuable tikis and be crowned the champion.
But before we dive into the excitement, let me walk you through the rules:
Objective:
The goal is simple – collect as many tikis as possible to earn points and emerge triumphant! The player with the highest score at the end of the game wins.
Setup:
Place the game board in the middle of all players. Shuffle the tiki cards and deal them equally among everyone. The remaining cards will form the draw pile.
Gameplay:
On your turn, you have two options:
- Play a tiki card: Choose a card from your hand and put it face-up on any unoccupied space on the board. This will add a tiki of that color to the corresponding space.
- Draw a tiki card: Draw the top card from the draw pile to replenish your hand. To maintain the rule of five, if you have five cards in your hand, you must play a card before drawing.
After every player has taken their turn, it’s time for the “topple” phase!
Starting with the first player, each player can choose to topple any tiki of their color that is surrounded on all four sides by tikis of a different color. When a tiki is toppled, it is removed from the board and kept face-down in front of the player.
The game continues with players taking turns, playing and toppling tikis, until all the spaces on the board are filled. At this point, the game enters its final phase.
Scoring:
In the final phase, players score points based on the tikis they have collected:
- Each untouched tiki is worth one point.
- Each set of five different-colored tikis is worth five points.
- If you manage to collect one of each color, you score a bonus of ten points!
Once the scoring is complete, the player with the highest total score is declared the winner of Tiki Topple!
Now that you know the rules, it’s time to grab your friends, channel your inner explorer, and let’s dive into the thrilling world of Tiki Topple! Have a blast!
- I’ll give you 28 Action cards – 7 each of four colors
- You’ll get 27 Secret Tiki cards
- There are 9 custom tiki pieces for you to use
- Each player will have their own playing pawn
- Finally, there’s a game board for us to play on
Let’s Get Started
The goal of the game is to score the most points over several rounds. How do we do that? By strategically playing cards to get our Secret Tiki pieces into the top three positions on the board.
Setting Up the Game
First, we need to unfold the game board and place it in the center of the playing area.
Next, we need to separate the Action cards (the ones with the colored wood back) from the Secret Tiki cards (the ones with the colorful tiki back).
Then, we sort the Action cards by color and give each player a set. If there are any extra Action cards, we put them back in the box. It’s important to hold our cards in our hand and keep them secret from our opponents.
Note: If you are playing with two players, use all seven cards. If you have three or four players, remove one “Tiki Up 1” card from each hand and put it back in the box.
Put your playing pawn that matches your color on the Start space of the board.
Alright, let me break it down for you. To get started, I’ll need you to line up the tiki pieces on the board just like this:
- First, flip over all the tiki pieces and divide them into three groups of three based on the symbol on their backs. Make one group with starfish, one with shells, and one with fishbones.
- Next, choose any group of tikis with the same symbol and place them facedown in the top three spaces of the grooved section of the board, which you can find by following the torches. Then, place another group of tikis facedown in the middle three spaces, and finally, place the last group in the bottom three spaces. This will create a column of nine tikis. It doesn’t matter which group goes where or the order of the tikis within each group.
After that, shuffle the Secret Tiki cards and give one facedown to each player. Keep your card hidden from the other players.

Hey there! Let’s talk about these awesome Secret Tiki cards. They’re super cool and can help you score points in the game.
So, each Secret Tiki card has three tikis on it. These tikis are like little statues that you collect in the game. And guess what? These tikis can score you some serious points!
Here’s how it works:
The tiki at the top of the card is worth a whopping 9 points! But there’s a catch – it will only score those points if it’s in 1st place at the end of the round. That means it has to be at the very top of the line. Talk about a challenge!
Now, the middle tiki on the card is still pretty awesome. It can score you 5 points, which is nothing to sneeze at. But it gets even better – this tiki can score those points if it’s in either 1st or 2nd place. So it has a bit more flexibility than the top tiki.
Finally, we have the bottom tiki. It may not score as many points as the others, but it’s still valuable. This tiki can score you 2 points if it ends up in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place. So it has a little bit more wiggle room in terms of scoring.
Oh, and here’s a little secret: you can share tikis with other players! Yes, that’s right. You might have the same tikis as someone else, but they might be in a different scoring order. Isn’t that interesting?
So remember, no two cards are exactly the same. Each one has its own unique combination of tikis and scoring possibilities.
Let’s Learn About The Tikis
Legend has it that tikis are special statues that represent the sacred and supernatural in certain Polynesian cultures.
Tikis are usually made from wood or stone and are known for their colorful and exaggerated facial features.
While the tikis in this game are not authentic carvings, they are designed to capture the essence of these diverse and vibrant cultures.
How to Play
Tiki Topple is a game that is played over several rounds. Whoever last enjoyed something coconut-flavored starts the first round, and then players take turns clockwise.
On your turn, you must play an Action card and place it in your own discarded card pile. You then move one tiki piece on the game board based on the action specified on the card. Remember, you must play a card every turn, and you cannot reuse the same card in the same round.
Action Card Choices
Tiki Up: The Power to Move
Imagine this – I have this amazing ability to take any active tiki piece and shift it upward, not just by one space, but by two or three spaces in the line. How cool is that?
Here’s how it works. When I decide to move a tiki up, the other tikis automatically shift down to fill in any gaps, all while maintaining their order. It’s like a synchronized dance of tikis! The best part is, I can choose to move any tiki I want, not just the ones on my Secret Tiki card. Talk about having the freedom to make things happen.
Now, there’s a little rule to keep in mind. I can’t move a tiki up by fewer spaces than what is specified on the card. For instance, if the card says “Tiki Up 2” or “Tiki Up 3”, I can’t use it to move the second tiki in the line upwards. It’s all about following the card’s instructions to a tee.
So, there you have it! With Tiki Up, I hold the power to elevate the tikis, create new formations, and regenerate the game’s dynamic response. Are you ready to make your move?
Tiki Topple
Hey there! Let me tell you about a pretty cool game called Tiki Topple. It’s all about moving those colorful tiki statues around. Here’s how it works.
Picture this: there’s a line of tikis, and you can grab any tiki you want from anywhere in that line. But here’s the twist – you can only move that tiki to the very bottom of the line. Sounds simple, right?
But wait, there’s more! You can also shift the tikis up to fill any gap in the line. And guess what? You can choose any tiki for this, not just the ones on your Secret Tiki card.
Tiki Toast
Let’s start by taking away the bottom tiki piece from the board. This will make the line shorter by one tiki.
Usually, the tiki you remove won’t be on your Secret Tiki card, but sometimes you might have to play that card on your own tiki.
Once you take a tiki off the board, it stays out for the rest of the round.
Note: Remember, on your first turn of each round, you can’t play a Tiki Toast Card.
End of the Round
A round ends in one of two ways:
- When the sixth tiki is removed from the board (leaving only 3 tikis). You don’t get to play any remaining cards in your hand. OR
- When all players have no more cards left.
When it’s time to reveal, everyone shows their Secret Tiki cards. We’re looking for matches between the top three tikis and the ones on our cards. If we find any, we add up the points and move our pawns along the scoring track on the board.
Let me give you an example:
Alright, let’s take a look at how the tikis and Secret Tiki cards fared at the end of the round:
Player A: The gray tiki, Hookipa, unfortunately doesn’t score because it needs to be in 1st position, but it’s in 2nd. On the other hand, the purple tiki, Lokahi, scores a nice 5 points since it’s in the ‘2nd or Better’ position. However, the red tiki, Nani, doesn’t score because it’s not among the remaining tikis.
Total Points = 5.
Player B: The blue tiki, Wikiwiki, misses out on scoring because it’s not among the remaining tikis. But, both the gray tiki, Hookipa, in 2nd position, and the orange tiki, Akamai, in 3rd position, manage to score.
Total Points = 5 + 2 = 7.
Player C: The purple tiki, Lokahi, takes the lead and scores 9 points since it’s in the 1st position. Just like Wikiwiki, the blue tiki, Nani, also doesn’t score. Lastly, Hookipa, the gray tiki, gains 2 points because it’s in the 2nd position, not quite meeting the requirement of being in ‘3rd or Better’ to score.
Total Points = 9 + 2 = 11.
Player D: The orange tiki, Akamai, doesn’t score because it needs to be in 1st position. Unfortunately, the yellow tiki, Huhu, doesn’t score either as it’s not among the remaining tikis. Finally, Hookipa, the gray tiki, manages to get 2 points by being in the 2nd position, falling short of the requirement of ‘3rd or Better’ to score.
Total Points = 2.
Let’s Start a New Round!
First things first, we need to get all the tikis back in line. Just follow the rules that we talked about during the setup. Oh, and don’t forget, everyone needs to draw a new Secret Tiki card and throw away the old one.
Now, gather up all your Action cards and put them back in your hand. The player on the left of the person who started the last round will go first this time.
How the Game Ends
If you’re playing with 3 or 4 people, the game will go on for as many rounds as there are players.
If it’s just you and one other person, you’ll play four rounds. Once the last round is done, add up the points and see who has the most. That player wins!
If there’s a tie, don’t worry. The players who tied will play one more round to find out who gets the title of Top Tiki Master. And if you want to make the game longer, just play more rounds. It’s up to you!
