Setup
Let’s get started! We’re going to play a fun game called “Team Trivia.” Here’s what you need to do:
- First, form two teams. It’s okay if one team has more players than the other. Make sure teammates sit together, facing the other team.
- Next, place the two pawns on the Start space on the gameboard path. Each team gets to choose a pawn.
- Now, separate the cards into their four colored categories and place the four decks near the gameboard. The categories are: Red (Road Trip), Blue (Sports & Games), Purple (When I Grow Up), and Green (ABCs).
- It’s time to decide which team goes first. Remember, teams will take turns throughout the game.

How to Play Taboo for Kids
When it’s your team’s turn to play Taboo:
- First, we’ll choose someone to be the Clue-giver. This role will switch between teams to give everyone a chance.
- If you’re the Clue-giver, you’ll move over to the other team so they can keep an eye on you while you give clues to your teammates. The team not giving clues will assign one player to handle the timer and another player to handle the squeaker.
- When you’re ready, select a card from any deck of your choice and turn it over so your teammates can’t see the words on it.
- The player in charge of the timer will start the timer and the player with the squeaker will squeeze it to signal the start of your turn as you pick up the first card.
To play Taboo, I need to think fast and give clues for the Guess Word on the card. But here’s the catch – I can’t say two specific words, known as the TABOO words (see Getting Squeaked)! My teammates will try to guess the word based on my clues.I’m gonna let you in on a little secret. Want to know the secret to having a blast while playing Taboo?
