Swap! Game Rules
Welcome to the exciting world of Swap! This is a game that will challenge your strategic thinking and decision-making skills. Let me walk you through the rules so you can get started right away.
Swap! is a two-player game where your goal is to collect as many points as possible. The game board consists of a grid with different colored tokens. Each token has a specific point value. The higher the point value, the rarer the token.
The game starts with both players taking turns to swap two adjacent tokens. When you swap two tokens, they switch places on the grid. The objective is to create rows or columns of three or more tokens of the same color. When this happens, those tokens are removed from the grid, and you score points based on their point value.
Sounds simple, right? Well, it gets trickier. You see, when you remove tokens from the grid, new tokens fall into place to fill the gaps. This means the grid is constantly changing, and new opportunities to score points arise.
To make things even more interesting, there are special tokens with special abilities. These tokens can help you clear more tokens from the grid or earn bonus points. Some of them can even be combined for powerful combo moves.
The game ends when there are no more moves available on the grid. At this point, the scores are tallied, and the player with the highest score wins.
Now that you understand the rules, it’s time to dive into the world of Swap! Challenge your friends or test your skills against the computer. Combine strategy and luck to outsmart your opponent and become the Swap! champion. Good luck, and may the best player win!

What’s in the Box?
- There are 104 Swap Cards inside this box
- You will find a set of instructions to guide you
How to Play
Your goal is to be the first player to get rid of all of your cards.
Getting Started
- First, we need to shuffle the cards and deal ten to each player.
- The remaining deck should be placed face-down near the center of the table. This will be the Draw Pile.
- Now, take the top card from the Draw Pile and turn it face-up. Put it about 12 inches away from the Draw Pile to create the Discard Pile.
- If the top card is a SWAP card, as the dealer, you get to choose which color will start the game.
- If the top card is a SUPER SWAP, SLAP, or SWITCH COLOR card, don’t worry about the instructions in the corner. Just pay attention to the color mentioned.
Game Play
When it comes to playing this game, here’s the golden rule: always pick a card that matches the color of the top card on the Discard Pile, or play a SWAP card.
But wait, there’s one exception to this rule.
Let’s get started. The first person to go is the dealer, and then play moves to the left.
We take turns in this game. When it’s your turn, you play one card from your hand onto the Discard Pile. Remember, some cards have special rules, so pay attention. Once you’ve played your card and followed any special rules, your turn is done.
If you don’t have a card that matches the top card on the Discard Pile, you have to draw one card from the Draw Pile. And hey, if the card you draw is playable, play it right away. If not, keep it and your turn is over.
Swap Cards
Playing SWAP cards adds an element of wildness and unpredictability to the game. These cards can be played at any time and on any color. When you decide to play a SWAP card, it’s your chance to shake things up by swapping hands with another player. And here’s the best part: you get to choose who you want to swap with!
Once the swap is done, the power is in your hands. You have the freedom to designate a new color. It’s totally up to you whether you want to stick with the current color or switch things up. Just remember, you can even play a SWAP card on top of another SWAP card.
Super Swap Cards
Did you know that card games can be quite tricky? One such card game is the SUPER SWAP game. It’s a game that can only be played using cards of matching colors. That means if you have a blue card, you can only play it on a blue card.
Now, here’s the cool part. If you happen to have a SUPER SWAP card, things get really interesting. When you play a SUPER SWAP card, everyone playing the game has to pass their entire hand of cards to the person sitting next to them. It’s like a big card swap frenzy!
But here comes the twist. You get to decide which direction the card swap will go. Will it go right, or will it go left? The choice is yours. Just make sure to choose wisely.
Oh, and don’t forget, you can’t just play a SUPER SWAP card on any old card. You can only play it on another SUPER SWAP card, but only if it has the same color. So keep an eye out for those matching colors!
Switch Color Cards
When you play a SWITCH COLOR card, you have to choose a color that matches the card you played it on. This means that you can only play a SWITCH COLOR card on a card that already has a matching color.
If you decide to play a SWITCH COLOR card, you need to select a new color for the game. This new color will determine the cards that can be played next. But remember, if you want to play a SWITCH COLOR card on another SWITCH COLOR card, the newly designated color must be the same as the card you are playing on.
Slap Cards
When it comes to playing Swap, there are certain rules you must follow. They can only be played on cards of the same color. So, if you have a blue Swap card, you can only play it on a blue card. And if you play a SLAP card, something exciting happens. All the other players, except for you, have to quickly slap the Discard Pile.
But here’s the twist: the last player to slap the pile has to draw a card from your hand. So, you better be fast if you don’t want to get stuck with more cards! And remember, you can only play a SLAP on another SLAP if it’s the same color.
End of the Game
The game ends when one player manages to play all their cards and ends up with an empty hand. That player is the winner! It doesn’t matter what kind of card you play last – once it’s discarded, the game is over.
Make Swap even more fun
Here’s a fun variation you can try to make the game even more exciting:
- If someone slaps a card that is not a SLAP card, give them a penalty. They have to do something funny or silly as a consequence.
