Let’s Get Set Up!

First, put the game board right in the middle of where you’re playing.

Next, each person picks a color for their player and puts their pawn on or near the spot that says 0 on the game board.

When you play for the first time, you need to split the cards into different types and put each type in a special slot in the box.

Now, you and your friends need to decide which cards you want to use in this game. There’s more info on “Card Selections”.

Look for the tiles that match the cards you picked, and put them in the right spots on the game board. These tiles help you and everyone else know which cards are in play and how they work.
Just so you know: If you’re playing with maki rolls and there are 6-8 people playing, turn the tile over to show the scoring for a 6-8 player game.

Last, mix up the dessert cards you picked and put them in a pile with the picture side down next to the game board.

To start playing Sushi Go Party!, we need to set up the game board. First, we lay out the board in the middle of the table, with the scoring track clearly visible to all players. Then, we take the tray that holds the cards and place it next to the board. This tray will keep all the different sets of cards organized and readily available throughout the game.

Time to Customize Your Menu

Now, you get to create your very own menu with your favorite cards!

Don’t worry, it’s super easy. Just remember to include the following in your game:

Nigiri cards, they’re always a must!
Choose 1 type of rolls.
Pick 3 types of appetizers.
Select 2 types of specials.
End on a sweet note with 1 type of dessert.

Remember: In a game with 7-8 players, the menu and special orders aren’t used.

And if you’re playing with just 2 players, don’t include the spoon and edamame cards.

Getting Started on a Round

Sushi Go Party! is played in 3 exciting rounds. Before each round begins, you’ll need to add some mouthwatering dessert cards into the main deck. Take a look at this table to know how many:

Let me break it down for you. We’re talking about a game here with a few rounds. The number of dessert cards you get depends on how many players are in the game. For 2-5 players, you’ll get 5 dessert cards in the first round, then 3 in the second round, and 2 in the third round. If you’re playing with 6-8 players, you’ll start with 7 dessert cards, then go down to 5 in the second round, and 3 in the third round. There are some extra dessert cards, but you won’t need those if you’re playing with 2-5 players.

Now, let’s talk about the number of cards each player gets. If there are 2 or 3 players, each player starts with 10 cards. For 4 or 5 players, it’s 9 cards each. If you have 6 or 7 players, you’ll get 8 cards each, and if there are 8 players, you’ll start with 7 cards each.

Before starting the game, make sure to put the rest of the cards face down next to the game board. Keep your cards a secret from the other players. And now, let the game begin!

When it’s your turn, you get to make a move.

When it’s time to play Sushi Go Party!, all players make their moves at the same time. First, you pick one card from your hand that you want to keep and place it face-down in front of you. Then, once everyone has made their choice, we all reveal our cards by turning them face-up.

After revealing the cards, you pass the rest of your hand, face-down, to the player on your left. This way, the hands move in a clockwise direction around the table. Next, you take the new hand that you received and the next turn begins. Keep in mind that this new hand will be smaller.

Remember: The face-up cards that you reveal stay with you until the end of the round, when they are scored. As you collect more cards, group them together in columns of the same color.

Special Card Actions

While most cards are scored at the end of a round, there are a few that have special rules and may affect the current turn:

Chopsticks and spoon cards give you an extra move that you can make in any turn, but only after the turn where you played the card. To use a bonus action card, just say the name of the card out loud when everyone reveals their cards during a turn.

Once all players have played their cards as usual, the bonus action that was called out comes into play. Bonus actions happen before players take the hand of cards from their neighbor on the right to start the next turn. You can find more information about how each card works in the Card Guide.

How to End a Round

Alright, now it’s time to score the other cards you played this round. Each card type has its own scoring method, which you can find in the “Card Guide”. As you score, move your pawn along the score track on the game board. This will show everyone how many points you earned this round.

Once all the cards, except for any played dessert cards, have been gathered, they are shuffled together again. (Don’t forget to include a new set of dessert cards for the next round). Then, the next round begins, following the same rules as before.

Game Over

After playing 3 rounds, the game comes to an end. Along with regular scoring, make sure to also tally up the points for your dessert cards, as explained in the “Card Guide”.

The player with the highest score is declared the winner!

In the event of a tie, the player with the most dessert cards is victorious.
