Solo Rules for Spirits of the Forest
Hello there! Are you ready to dive into a magical world filled with enchanting spirits? Well, you’re in luck, because I have some solo rules for the amazing game “Spirits of the Forest” that will allow you to embark on this journey all on your own. Let’s get started!
First, let’s talk about the setup. To play solo, you will need the base game of “Spirits of the Forest.” Make sure you have all the beautiful cards and tokens ready to go. Shuffle the deck of spirit cards and place them face-down within reach. This is your spirit deck. You’ll also want to set up the elemental board just like you would in a multiplayer game. Now you’re all set up and ready to start!
When playing solo, your goal is to collect sets of spirit cards to earn points. Each spirit card has a unique combination of elements, and you’ll want to match these elements to create powerful sets. To collect a set, you’ll need to gather the right combination of elements from the elemental board.
On your turn, you can choose one of three actions: draw a spirit card, play a spirit card, or take an element from the elemental board.
If you choose to draw a spirit card, simply draw the top card from your spirit deck and add it to your hand. Easy peasy, right?
If you decide to play a spirit card, you’ll need to pay the required elements from the elemental board. Each spirit card has a cost, which is listed at the bottom of the card. Pay the necessary elements by removing them from the board and place the spirit card in front of you. Congratulations, you just added a new spirit to your collection!
The last action you can take is to take an element from the elemental board. This will help you gather the right elements for future turns. Simply choose an element from the board and place it in your personal supply. But be careful, you can only have a limited number of elements in your supply at a time, so choose wisely!
As you continue to play, you’ll notice that some spirit cards have special abilities. These abilities can give you an extra advantage or allow you to manipulate the game in unique ways. Keep an eye out for these special cards and make the most of their powers!
The game will end when either the spirit deck or the elemental board runs out of cards. Once this happens, it’s time to calculate your score. Each set of spirit cards will earn you points based on the number of cards in the set and the elements they contain. Add up your points and see how well you did!
Well, there you have it. The solo rules for “Spirits of the Forest.” I hope you have a blast venturing into this whimsical world on your own. Just remember, the spirits are waiting for you, so let the journey begin!

When it comes to playing the solo variant of the game, there are a few setup changes to keep in mind. Here’s what you need to do:
- Gather the nine favor tokens that have spirit icons on them. Any other favor tokens can be set aside.
- Put all the gemstones back into the game box.
- Take the 48 spirit tiles and shuffle them. Then, create four rows of 12 tiles, placing them face down. Make sure to reveal the first and last tile of each row.
- Now, take the nine favor tokens and shuffle them. Randomly choose three of them to place on the single player card. Place two face down on the opponent field (top) and one face up on your own field (bottom).
During the Game
Once the setup is complete, you can start playing the solo game. The gameplay remains the same as the multiplayer version, but there are a few differences to keep in mind:

- First, I’ll start by collecting one tile that is facing up and put it in front of me.
- Next, I’ll collect the tile that is facing up at the opposite end of the row from step one and place it on the other side of the table, which is the opponent’s area.
- Now, I’ll reveal the first and last spirit tiles in the row from step one.
Just keep on taking turns, doing what I showed you earlier. Easy, right?
Now, when a row is completely empty for the first time, we’re gonna do something special. I’ll flip over a favor token from the enemy’s field on my card and put it in your area. That token will count as an extra symbol for you, pretty cool, huh? Keep that in mind.
But wait, there’s more! When a row gets depleted for the second time, I’ll reveal another favor token from my enemy field and place it in your area. This token won’t be an extra symbol, but it’s still worth keeping track of.
Remember, the game keeps going until only one row is left with some symbols in it. Once that happens, it’s time for the grand finale!
The End of the Game
Now it’s time to cash in on some rewards. You get to take the face-up favor token from my card and add it to your collection. Oh, and guess what? The spirit symbols on those favor tokens count towards your final score. Sweet, right?
Oh, and one more thing. In this solo version of the game, we’re not gonna score any points for those power sources. They’re just there to decorate your player board.
But here’s the catch. If I, your sneaky opponent, manage to have the majority of any spirit kind, you lose! So be careful and watch out for my cunning moves.
When it comes to winning the game, it’s important to keep track of the spirit symbols. If I have the majority or if I’m tied with the opponent on each symbol, then I emerge victorious. Once that’s settled, I proceed to count the points for my final score, just like in a multiplayer game.
But wait, there’s more!
Here’s a chance to score some extra points. If I discard the face-up favor token on the single player card before scoring, I get a nice boost of 5 nature points. Alternatively, if I generously give the face-up favor token to the opponent before scoring, I earn an even greater reward of 10 nature points.
