Are you ready for an exciting adventure on the high seas? Join me as we set sail in search of hidden treasures! In this game, the ship is your ticket to riches and fame. But beware, my friend, for the journey is fraught with danger and mystery.
Game Objective
The objective of the Ship of Treasures Game is simple – to navigate your ship safely through treacherous waters and collect as many treasures as possible. The more treasures you find, the higher your score will be!
Gameplay
When the game begins, you will find yourself aboard a magnificent ship, ready to embark on your quest. To steer the ship, use the arrow keys on your keyboard. Your goal is to navigate through the rocky waters, avoiding obstacles such as rocks and other ships.
As you sail, keep an eye out for sparkling treasures floating in the water. Simply sail near them to collect them and add them to your treasure chest. But be careful not to get too greedy – collecting treasures while navigating can be quite tricky!
Power-Ups
If luck is on your side, you might come across power-ups during your journey. These special items can provide various benefits that will aid you in your quest. Some power-ups will make your ship faster, allowing you to reach treasures more quickly. Others will provide temporary invincibility, shielding you from dangers. Make sure to grab these power-ups whenever you see them!
End of the Game
The game will end when you either run out of time or collide with too many obstacles. Your final score will be based on the number of treasures you collected during your journey. Can you collect enough treasures to become a legendary pirate?
Now that you know the rules, it’s time to set sail and begin your adventure! Get ready to navigate through treacherous waters, collect treasures, and become the ultimate pirate captain!

Let’s Get Started with Pirate Game
Ahoy, me mateys! Arrr you ready for some pirate adventures? Well, grab your pirate gear and let’s set sail on an exciting treasure hunt! In this game, the aim is to be the first pirate to collect three different-colored treasures, but don’t be greedy! You can’t collect your own treasure, ya scallywag!
Time to Set Up the Game
To get started, gather up the pirate playing pieces, playing piece stands, number die, direction die, cannonballs, treasure chests, pirate cards, plastic game board, treasure maps, wipe-off markers, and the ship’s bow. Lay out the game board, and make sure everyone has their treasure maps and wipe-off markers ready. Now we’re ready to sail the high seas!
Ready, Set, Sail!

- To find the game pieces, just lift up the game board and cardboard platform.
- Put the cardboard platform inside the box base. Then, place the plastic game board on top, making sure the hinges face up towards the front of the ship.
- Before you start playing, pop out the pirate playing pieces and put them into the plastic stands that match their clothes.
- Every pirate needs to choose a playing piece, grab four cannonballs, and collect the three treasure pieces that match their color.
- Follow the instructions on the back of the bow to fold and attach it to the ship.
Let’s begin our pirate adventure with a treasure map and a special wipe-off pen. The spaces on the map correspond to the spaces on the game board, so make sure to align your map properly with the bow at the top.
Now, it’s time to secretly mark on your map where you want to hide your precious treasures and cannonballs. Remember, you can only hide them under Xs that match your color. Keep it sneaky!
If there are three players, mark your map for your own treasures and cannonballs, and add an extra cannonball and an extra piece of treasure in a color that no pirate is using. Just one cannonball will be left unused.
When there are two players, mark your map for your own treasures and cannonballs, but this time, include all three treasures and four cannonballs for one of the colors that no pirate is using.
Now that you’re equipped with this treasure map strategy, it’s time to set sail and uncover the hidden riches of the game board. Are you ready, matey? Let the treasure hunt begin!
When you’re hiding extra treasures and cannonballs, make sure to hide them under Xs that match the color of the treasure. If you’re the youngest pirate, ask the others to close their eyes while you hide your treasures and cannonballs. Lift a hatch, drop them in, and close the hatch. The next youngest pirate does the same, and this continues until everything is hidden. To start the game, put your piece on any empty space on the board. Shuffle the cards and place them face down.
Playing the Game
First, it’s my turn. I roll the dice and see what numbers come up. The dice show me how many spaces I can move. But that’s not all! Another die tells me which direction to go. I look at the compass on the board to know where to head.
I have to move the exact number that shows up on the dice. No going diagonal, though. I have to follow the directions on the dice. Once I finish my turn, it’s your turn. Make sure you pay attention because play goes from left to right.

Rolling a “wild”
Did you know that when you roll a “wild” and a 6 in the game Ship of Treasures, something interesting happens? Let me explain:
Usually, when you roll a “wild” and a 6, you have to move in a straight line. But, if you don’t roll a “wild” and a 6 at the same time, you still have to move in a straight line.- If you’re lucky enough to roll a “wild” and a 6 at the same time, guess what? You don’t have to move in a straight line anymore! You can change directions as many times as you want, but remember, you’re not allowed to move diagonally. So go ahead, shake things up!

Reaching the Ends of the Board
What happens when you reach the ends or sides of the game board in Ship of Treasures? It’s pretty cool, actually:
If you’ve still got moves left and you reach one of the ends or sides of the board, you get to “swim” under the deck of the ship and pop up on the other side, like a hidden passage!
Here’s how it works: Move your playing piece to the opposite end of the row or column you were on, and continue your move from there. You don’t have to lift up the actual game board or anything.
If you need to find a way to swim underwater easily, look no further! I have a secret technique to share with you. Just by going under the ship, you can count it as swimming under it. Isn’t that amazing? It’s like cheating, but in a good way!

Opening Hatches and Collecting Treasures
Arr matey! When ye land on an X that ain’t yer color, ye can (but ye don’t have to) open the hatch and take a look-see.
If ye find hidden treasure in a color ye haven’t collected yet, ye can snatch it up and put it right in front of ye.
But if ye land on an X fer a color of treasure ye already have, don’t open the hatch. Instead, pick a card from the deck (see Picking Cards, below).
Now, if ye land on an X of yer own color, ye must open the hatch and show yer fellow pirates what’s hidden below the surface.
Cannonballs
Arrr! If ye come across a cannonball when ye open a hatch, ye must skip yer next turn.
Hold onto that cannonball until yer next turn, me heartie. It’ll remind ye that ye need to skip a turn.
On yer next turn, put the cannonball away and skip that turn, me matey.
Blank Spaces/Picking Cards
When I land on an empty space, I get to choose any card from the deck. I read the instructions out loud and do exactly what the card tells me to do.
If I land on an X for a color of treasure that I already have, I have the option (but I don’t have to) to pick a card.
Some cards let me save them for later; if I get one of these cards, I place it face up on the table in front of me.
If I save a card for later, I can only play it at the start of my turn. Even after playing a card, I can still roll the dice and continue with my turn.
I am not allowed to pick more than two cards on a turn. But if a card moves me to another space where I need to pick a card, then I can pick a second card. After following the instructions on that card, my turn is over. I must not pick another card.
End of the Game
In the game, the objective is to be the first pirate to collect all the different treasures. However, you cannot count your own treasure towards this goal.
If you’re playing with less than four players, you still need to gather three treasures to win.
Helpful Hints
- When playing with fewer pirates, it’s a good idea to keep track of which treasure belongs to you and which ones belong to the other pirates.
- Before starting the game, it’s crucial to mark your treasures and cannonballs on your treasure map. This will speed up the game setup.
- Be strategic with your cards. If possible, save a card for a critical moment.
- If you gotta spill the beans on one of your own hidden treasures, try to land on a blank spot. That way, you might snag a “Re-hide Your Treasure” card before a sneaky pirate grabs your loot. Stay sharp and protect your booty!
- Here’s a slick move: re-hide your treasure in a spot that those scallywags have already searched. They’ll think it’s empty, and you’ll outsmart ’em!
- Keep an eye on what the other players are up to and make some handy-dandy notes on your treasure map. That way, when you breeze onto someone else’s X, you’ll know just what to do.
