Reykholt Solo Rules
Hey there! If you’re playing Reykholt solo, you’ve come to the right place. Let me guide you through the rules so you can have an amazing experience.
First things first: let’s talk about objectives. In this game, your main goal is to run the most successful vegetable farm in Iceland. You’ll need to grow and sell your crops to earn points and win the game.
Now, let’s dive into the gameplay. You start with a small patch of land and a few workers. You’ll need to carefully plant your vegetables, take care of them, and harvest them at the right time to maximize your yield.
Each round, I’ll draw a card that indicates which vegetables are in high demand. This will help you decide which crops to prioritize. Don’t worry if you can’t fulfill all the orders – there’s always next time!
As you play, your farm will grow, and more opportunities will arise. You’ll be able to invest in greenhouses, unlock special abilities, and attract tourists to your farm. These actions will give you extra points and help you get ahead.
But watch out! Other farmers are also competing for the best harvest, so you’ll need to make smart decisions and be strategic. Keep an eye on your opponents’ farms and adjust your plans accordingly.
As you progress through the game, the seasons will change, and your farm will evolve. You’ll have to adapt to the changing weather conditions and make the most of each season to succeed.
Remember, it’s all about finding the right balance between growing your vegetables, fulfilling orders, and investing in your farm. Don’t rush – take your time to plan and think ahead.
I hope these instructions have given you a good overview of how to play Reykholt solo. Now it’s time to get your hands dirty and start building your vegetable empire. Good luck, and may your harvest be bountiful!

Note: Hey there! Just so you know, when you’re playing solo, you’ll need to make a couple of changes to the normal rules for a 2-player game.
Setup
First things first, let’s set up the game board. You’ll need to place a certain number of greenhouses, depending on their size. For the solo game, you’ll place 1 greenhouse of size 3, 2 greenhouses of size 4, 2 greenhouses of size 5, and 1 greenhouse of size 6. Don’t worry about the random greenhouses pile, it stays the same.
Next, choose 2 colors of workers and take all the workers of those colors. You’ll also need to pick a manager, in any color you like. This manager will be super helpful throughout the game.
There are a couple of special action spaces in the Property column that you need to know about. Every one of these spaces should have a worker on them before you start playing. These workers are going to stay there for the whole game, so be careful not to remove them! They’re blocking those spaces for good.
Okay, now let’s talk about the service cards. Normally, you’d have 5 cards in the open display, but in the solo game, you only need 3. Return the rest of the cards to the game box. The good news is, you still get to take the topmost good from the stack whenever you grab a service card from the display.
Lastly, for the solo game, you’ll only be using game round tiles numbered 1 to 5. Leave the rest aside for now.
Work Time
Every round, at the beginning of our work time, I’ll grab a greenhouse and a tomato. No need to spend an action for that.
Throughout the rounds, we’ll take turns using workers of different colors. The first color will be used three times (in rounds 1, 3, and 5), and the second color will be used twice (in rounds 2 and 4).
When I place workers of the active color, the workers of the inactive color will block the action spaces they’re on.
Time for Homecoming
In the first round, during the homecoming time, I won’t retrieve any workers. They’ll stay on their action spaces and block them for the next round.
Hey there! Are you ready for Homecoming Time? Well, let me explain how it works. During each round, you always get back the workers from the previous round. They’re like old pals coming back to help you out.
But here’s the twist – the workers you place in the current round stay right where you put them. No moving around for them! So make sure you strategize wisely.
Oh, and when round 5 is over, that’s it – game over, my friend. Time to see how well you did!
Your Mission
When you play solo, your goal is to make it to the tomato table with 5 delicious dishes. But hey, why stop there? You can try to beat your previous scores and keep advancing. It’s all about reaching new heights!
Now, let’s talk about points. You can measure your success by counting two things. First, for every extra table you reach after the tomato table, you score 10 points. Second, for each good you have that’s required by the next table, you score 1 point (but no more than 9 points).

Example: Imagine this – you’ve made it to the mushroom table and you’re faced with 5 delicious dishes. But, oh no, you only have 2 cauliflower left in your stock. What should you do? Well, let me tell you, the smart move here is to carefully consider your options. You see, your final score in this game hinges on the decisions you make. And trust me, every choice matters.
Variant: Now, picture this – during the game, you have the chance to place a worker on a blocked action space. Sounds intriguing, doesn’t it? Well, it is! This variant adds an extra layer of challenge to the game. The trick, my friend, is in the timing. You have to think strategically about when to make use of this powerful move. So, what will you do? Are you ready to take on the challenge?
