Rules for Playing Pyramid Game
Playing the Pyramid Game is a delightful experience. I’ll walk you through the rules so that you can have a fun and successful game.
Objective
The goal of the Pyramid Game is to guess words based on clues provided by your partner. You need to correctly identify as many words as possible within a given time limit.
Setting Up
To start the game, you’ll need a deck of cards with words written on them. Each player sits with their partner, facing away from the cards. The deck is placed between the partners, with one partner acting as the clue giver and the other as the guesser.
The Round Begins
The clue giver selects a card without revealing the word to the guesser. The clue giver then provides a series of clues to help their partner guess the word on the card. The clues must be related to the word but cannot directly state the word or its root.
Guessing the Word
As the guesser, it’s essential to actively listen to the clues provided by your partner. Use your critical thinking skills to analyze the hints and come up with a word that matches. Once you have a guess, announce it to your partner. If your guess is correct, the clue giver picks another card, and the process continues. If your guess is incorrect, the clue giver can provide additional clues until you guess correctly or time runs out.
Timing
Each round has a time limit, usually around one to two minutes. Both partners need to be aware of the time remaining and work together efficiently to maximize their score.
Scoring Points
Points are awarded for each correct guess. The number of points earned varies depending on the difficulty level of the word.
Switching Roles
Once the time limit is up or all the cards have been guessed, the roles reverse. The guesser becomes the clue giver, and vice versa. Play continues for multiple rounds until all cards have been used.
Winning the Game
At the end of the game, both partners tally their points. The team with the most points wins. In case of a tie, additional rounds can be played to determine the ultimate winner.
Have fun playing the Pyramid Game! Remember to communicate effectively, think critically, and make the most of your time. Enjoy the challenge!
In the desert sands, there was a hidden pyramid known as the pyramid of Amenophis. People thought it was lost forever, but recently it was uncovered. Now, four brave treasure hunters are venturing inside to find its riches. However, there’s a problem. The mummy of Amenophis is not happy that people want to take its treasures. So, it throws anyone it catches in the dungeon. There’s a way to escape, though. The treasure hunters have three special ankh symbols that can protect them. If they give one of these symbols to the mummy, they can go free. Will one of the treasure hunters find the treasures they’re looking for, or will the mummy get rid of them all in the end?
What’s Inside
- 1 magnet board
- 1 magnetic mummy figure
- 4 magnetic treasure hunter pieces
I bet you’re curious about what’s included in the game box. Let me break it down for you. You’ll find 12 life tokens with ankh symbols, 2 covering boards, 5 treasure hunter dice, 1 mummy die, 23 mission cards, and, of course, the all-important instructions.
Now, let’s talk about the game’s objective. The goal here is to become the ultimate treasure hunter. You’ll embark on exciting missions, making your way through challenges and obstacles to uncover ancient artifacts. It’s a thrilling adventure that will keep you on the edge of your seat!
So, here’s the deal. There’s this super cool game called “Pyramid Panic!” that we’re going to play. It’s got a mummy and a bunch of treasure hunters. Sound exciting? Well, let me break it down for you.
One of us gets to be the mummy, and the rest of us get to be the treasure hunters. As a treasure hunter, your mission is to find five different objects hidden in the pyramid. Easy, right? But watch out, because the mummy is on the prowl, trying to catch us. And every time it catches one of us, it gets a life token, which is like an ankh symbol. Pretty cool, huh?
Now, here’s the thing. If you’re a treasure hunter, you win as soon as you find all five objects. But if you’re the mummy, you win by collecting a certain number of life tokens. The number of life tokens you need depends on how many players there are. So, it’s a race against the clock for both sides!
Before We Start
Before we dive into our first game, we need to set up. First, let’s take out the cards, life tokens, and covering boards from the cardboard sheets. We’ll need those later. Oh, and there’s this awesome magnet board that goes in the middle of the box insert. It has a map of the pyramid on both sides. So, let’s decide who gets to play the mummy and get ready to have a blast!
Alright, here’s the deal: I’m gonna explain how to play this super cool game called “The Mummy Treasure Hunt.” It’s pretty simple, but loads of fun! And the best part? You get to be either a mummy or a treasure hunter. Exciting, right? Let’s get into it!
First things first, here’s how the game set-up works. You need a board with a box in the middle, and a mummy player sits on one side of the board while all the treasure hunters sit on the other side. It’s important that the mummy player can’t peak at what’s happening on the treasure hunters’ side – gotta keep it fair, you know?
Now, on the mummy’s side, there’s a special board called the mummy’s covering board. This goes on top of the insert. And guess what? On the treasure hunters’ side, they have their own covering board too, but it’s got a picture of their camp on it. How cool is that?
That’s pretty much the gist of it. The game is all about the mummy player trying to catch the treasure hunters, and the treasure hunters trying to find and steal the mummy’s treasure. It’s like a thrilling race against time!
So, gather your friends and give “The Mummy Treasure Hunt” a try. It’s a blast, trust me!
So here’s what you gotta do: pick a color, any color really. Once you’ve got that all sorted out, grab the three ankh symbols that match your chosen color. Stick the magnetic piece that matches your color on the start space over on your side of the board. You with me so far?
So, here’s what you need to do. First, grab the mummy figure and put its head on the sarcophagus, all the way on the other side of the board. Then, take the opposing magnet and put it in the same exact spot on the treasure hunter side of the board. Simple enough, right?
Now, if there aren’t enough treasure hunters to make a full team, no worries. Just put the extra pieces and ankh symbols back in the box. Easy peasy!
So, here’s the deal – the mission cards have different colored backs, and we need to sort them out. I shuffle each pile separately to make sure it’s all mixed up nicely.
After that, it’s time for each of us treasure hunters to pick one card from each pile. But shh, don’t let the others see which cards you’ve chosen – let’s keep it a secret!
Oh, and don’t worry about the rest of the cards. We’ll set them aside for now without peeking at them.
Alright, now it’s the mummy’s turn. The mummy gets their own special die. As for the treasure hunters, we have our own dice to use. Ready? Set? Let’s go on our epic expedition!

How the Game Works
(for 3 to 5 players; the adjustments for 2 players will be explained later)
Let’s get started! The player on the left of the mummy player gets to go first, and from there, the turn order goes in a clockwise direction. This means that all the treasure hunters take their turns before the mummy player goes, and then it’s back to the treasure hunters, and so on.
The Treasure Hunter’s Turn
- Reset the dice (optional)
- Roll the dice
- Move
- Play a mission card (optional)
1. Reset the dice
If there are any dice left with the mummy side showing from previous turns, you have the choice to reset them before your turn. If you choose to do so, the mummy player will immediately take a turn, interrupting the normal turn order. We’ll talk more about this later. After resetting, you can roll all five dice.
2. Roll the dice
I roll the treasure hunter dice, making sure to exclude any dice showing the mummy side. If I’m happy with the result, I move my game piece accordingly. If not, I can choose to roll again, but only with the dice that don’t have the mummy side showing. I can keep repeating this as many times as I want, but I must set aside any dice showing the mummy after each roll.
Now, onto the move itself. From the dice I rolled, I select one and announce its result (either 1, 2, 3, 4, or arrow) to the mummy player. Then, I move my piece that many spaces on the board. A few rules to remember while moving:
– I can only move my piece horizontally or vertically, never diagonally.
– It’s okay to change direction during the move.
That’s it for the treasure hunter dice and the move. Let’s continue with the game!
During a turn, I can go back and forth in the same space multiple times. The number of spaces I move must be the full amount I chose. If I can’t move that amount, I have to roll the dice again or choose another one. I can’t enter or cross the walls or the space where the mummy is standing. I also can’t move onto the start space or the dungeon. If I choose a number, I can jump over other treasure hunters, but I have to count their spaces. Only one piece can be on each space. If I choose the arrow, I have to move my piece horizontally or vertically to the space in front of the nearest obstacle. The obstacles are the mummy, other treasure hunters, walls, the start space, and the dungeon.
Have you ever wondered what happens when I shoot an arrow? Let’s take a closer look at this fascinating topic. When I use the arrow, it doesn’t just sit in one place, but instead gets sent flying through the air. But why does it move? What makes it go forward? Well, it turns out there are a few factors at play.
The first thing to consider is the bow. When I pull back on the string and release it, the bow transfers energy to the arrow. This energy propels the arrow forward, giving it the speed it needs to travel through the air. It’s kind of like when you stretch a rubber band and then let it go – it snaps back into place, right? The bow works in a similar way.
Another factor that affects the arrow’s motion is the angle at which it is shot. If I shoot the arrow straight up into the sky, it won’t go very far. But if I shoot it at an angle, it will travel a much greater distance. This is because shooting at an angle gives the arrow both speed and height. Imagine throwing a ball straight up versus throwing it at an angle – which one goes farther?
Lastly, we have to consider the force of gravity. Gravity is what pulls the arrow downward, causing it to descend as it travels through the air. This is why, when you shoot an arrow, it eventually falls back down to the ground. Gravity is a constant force that affects everything on Earth, including arrows.
So, when I shoot an arrow, it’s not just a simple process. There are many factors that come into play, from the energy stored in the bow to the angle at which it is shot to the force of gravity pulling it down. It’s truly fascinating how all these elements work together to make the arrow move. Next time you see someone shooting an arrow, you’ll have a better understanding of what’s happening – pretty cool, huh?

STEP 4: Complete a Mission Card
When I finish moving my treasure hunter, I have the chance to play a mission card if I end my turn on one of my mission card symbols. I place the card face up so that everyone, including the mummy, can see it.
If I play my last map during this turn, I win the game!
Let me give you an example of how a treasure hunter’s turn might look:
Now it’s my turn to play as the blue player. The dice from the previous turns showed two mummies, and I have to decide if I want to reset the game or keep going. I choose to keep going and roll the other three dice. This time, I roll a mummy, a 1, and a 2. I set aside the mummy die and look at the numbers.
I’m not happy with the numbers I rolled, so I decide to roll again. Now I only have two dice left. I roll them and get a 1 and a 4.
I announce that I will move four spaces. I move my piece to the red scarab on the game board. I have a mission card with the red scarab symbol, so I place it face up in front of me to show that I completed the mission.
That’s the end of my turn. Now it’s the red player’s turn, and they decide to reset the dice.
But wait, before the red player can roll the dice, the mummy player takes an interrupting turn. This means they can make a move before the red player’s turn. If the interrupting turn is over, then the red player will roll all five dice.
Mummy Turn
Normal Mummy Turn
(After the last treasure hunter’s turn): I, the mummy, get to play! I roll my special mummy die and add the number it shows to the number of mummies on the treasure hunter dice.
The total tells me how many spaces I can move. But let me tell you, I can only move horizontally or vertically! I can’t go through walls, and I definitely can’t start from the start space or the dungeon.
If I happen to land on a treasure hunter, oh boy, their turn ends right then and there! The treasure hunter is caught, and I’ll bring them to the dungeon. Of course, they’ll have to give me one of their life tokens. Let’s hope they have some left!
If they don’t have any life tokens left, well, tough luck! They’re out of the game. And guess what? I get to stay on the space where I captured the treasure hunter. No escaping from me!
Listen up! After I take my turn as a mummy, the treasure hunter dice that show mummies stay that way. They can only be changed if a treasure hunter decides to Reset.
The Interrupting Mummy Turn
(when a treasure hunter chooses the Reset action):
Hey there! When I choose to Reset, the mummy gets a turn. It moves the same number of spaces as the mummy symbols showing on my dice. I don’t roll the mummy die again. For example, if there are 3 mummy symbols showing on my dice, the mummy moves 3 spaces.
Other than that, the rules for the mummy’s turn are the same as usual. After the mummy’s turn, it’s my job to roll all my treasure hunter dice again.
Game Over
The game ends abruptly.
The game has two possible ways to end:
- I win if I play my last mission card as a treasure hunter.
- I win if I collect a certain number of life tokens as the mummy.
Here are the numbers:
- If there are 2 treasure hunters: I need 4 life tokens to win.
- If there are 3 treasure hunters: I need 6 life tokens to win.
- If there are 4 treasure hunters: I need 7 life tokens to win.
If the mummy collects the required number of life tokens, the mummy wins.
The Game For Two Players
These are the changes for a two-player game:
You and I both play as treasure hunters. We each have two pieces and use both sets of life tokens. We each draw 10 mission cards, with two cards of each color. We take turns playing, using both pieces in the same order. We can complete mission cards with either piece. After we both take our turns, then it’s the mummy’s turn.
In this game, I win if I complete all 10 missions, but you win if you collect 3 life tokens.
To make the game fair, there is one important rule: I have to play honestly and not cheat. But for a true adventurer like you, it’s a matter of honor.
Here are some special rules and tips:
What happens if all five of my dice show a mummy side? Well, you lose your turn. Your piece stays where it is. The next player gets to choose whether to reset the game, and then I get to take a turn.
If this happens to you right before I play, I still get to take a normal turn and then another turn interrupting yours.
I can’t move a single step as a treasure hunter. No matter if I try 1, 2, 3, or 4, or even if I use the arrow keys, I’m trapped. Walls surround me on three sides, and on the fourth side, there’s a mummy. I have no choice but to announce that I’m stuck. This means I don’t get a turn, and I can’t reset or roll the dice.
If I want to escape the dungeon, there are two ways out. I can go through the breaks in the walls, and that’s where I have to make my move.
Remember: For the magnets to work properly, all the pieces should stay in the middle of their spaces. If the mummy enters a space with a treasure hunter and the mummy piece doesn’t “catch” the treasure, I’m still considered captured.
Here’s a tip for the mummy: Whenever I want, I can look at the backs of the remaining mission cards to see which colors each treasure hunter has.
