The Easy-Peasy Game Rules for Piece o’ Cake
Hey there, baking buddies! I can’t wait to dive into the marvelous world of Piece o’ Cake with you! This cake-making extravaganza is a whole lot of fun, and I’m here to guide you through the rules so we can bake up a storm together.
Ingredients
Before we get started, we need to make sure we have all the ingredients in our baking arsenal. Here’s what you’ll need:
- A game board with different cake slices
- A deck of cards with mouthwatering cake toppings
- Yummy-looking victory point tokens
Objective
Our goal in Piece o’ Cake is to create the most delectable array of cakes and earn scrumptious victory points. We’ll be competing against each other, and the one with the tastiest creations will emerge as the champion!
Gameplay
Now let’s get down to business and start baking, shall we? The game will go on for several rounds, and each round consists of three simple steps:
- Select – We’ll take turns being the “Master Baker” and choosing a slice of cake to come into play. The Master Baker can also pick a slice from an opponent’s cake, which adds some spice to the mix!
- Divide – Once a slice is chosen, it’s time to divide it among the players. We’ll need to be thoughtful and fair in our divisions to ensure everyone gets a fair share.
- Decide – The final step is the icing on the cake, so to speak. We’ll each get to choose a topping card to enhance our slice of cake. These cards can boost our victory points, so choose wisely!
Scoring
Throughout the game, we’ll keep earning victory points for our delightful creations. The more cake slices we have of a certain type, the more points we’ll amass. But beware, getting too many of the same type can result in negative points, so we need to strike the right balance!
The Tasty Finale
After we’ve baked to our heart’s content and played through all the rounds, it’s time for the final taste test. We’ll tally up our victory points and crown the ultimate cake connoisseur.
So, are you ready to put on your baking hats and whip up some sweet victory? Grab your fellow bakers, follow these rules, and let’s make Piece o’ Cake the highlight of our gaming feast!

- Instructions
Getting Ready
First, I will mix the 57 cake slices and place them face-down in 5 stacks, with 11 slices in each stack. Then, I will set aside the remaining 2 slices, also face-down. These stacks will serve as the 5 cakes that we will distribute during the game.
Next, we need to choose a starting player who will be the first “server”. This player will serve and divide the first cake.

How to Play the Cake Division Game
The Cake is Served and Divided
When we play the Cake Division Game, someone takes a stack of 11 cake slices and puts them down, one after another, to make a round cake. The slices are arranged just as they were in the stack, without changing their order. Imagine taking the top slice from the stack and placing it next to the others, until there’s a whole cake!
Next, the person serving the cake has a special job: they have to divide the cake into pieces for each player. They can make as many pieces as there are players, or less. But here’s the trick: they can’t change the order of the slices. Each piece can be made up of one or more slices, no matter how big or small.
Here’s the tricky part: sometimes there will be fewer pieces than there are players. That means some players won’t get any cake this time – not even the server! When there are only 2 players, the cake can be divided into 4 pieces, with each player choosing a piece in turns.
For example: Mathide, Otiie, Marie, and L.thane gather at the bakery to play a fun game.

The Cake Divides
Now it’s your turn to play! We’ll go in order, starting with the person on the left of the server. Here’s what you can do:
- You can choose a piece and decide if you want to eat the slices or keep them
- If you don’t want to choose a piece, you can eat slices from the ones you kept earlier
If you choose a piece, you have to decide right away what you want to do with each slice.
Eating a Slice
If you decide to eat a slice, you’ll flip it over and put it face-down in front of you. Each slice you eat gives you points equal to the number of dollops of whipped cream on that slice.
Keeping a Slice
When playing this game, I place the slice of cake I want to collect face-up in front of me. If I collect several slices of the same kind of cake, I put them next to each other. They all stay face-up right in front of me.
Later on in the game, I can choose to eat the collected slices if I don’t want to pick a piece from the current cake. These collected slices will only give me points at the end of the game if I have the most slices of each kind.
If I don’t have the most slices of a certain kind that I’ve collected, those slices are worthless.
For example: I’m sitting next to Mathilde, and it’s my turn to choose first.
I decide to choose the piece that’s made up of 3 slices, which is located below to the right.

I was so excited when I saw the strawberry cake, I couldn’t help but flip it over and start eating a slice right away. It looked so delicious, and I just couldn’t resist taking that first bite. But I didn’t stop there. I also went for the chocolate slice, savoring the rich and creamy taste.
However, my ultimate goal was to win the game, so I made a strategic move. I decided to hold onto the last slice of gooseberry cake in the hopes of earning extra points. If I could have the most gooseberry slices by the end of the game, I would score a total of 9 points. It was a risky move, but I was willing to take the chance.

I’m forfeiting, which means I won’t take a slice from the current cake. Instead, I’ll choose one type of slice I’ve already collected. I’ll flip those slices over and place them face-down in front of me, along with the slices I’ve eaten.
The person who served the cake is the last one to either choose a slice or forfeit. If there are any remaining slices, they are taken out of the game.
Then, the next player to the left becomes the server and divides the slices of the next cake. This process continues until all five cakes have been served.
Once all five cakes have been served, the game comes to an end. Points are scored by the players as follows:
– Collected slices of cake.
When we play the cake game, we compare all the cakes in front of us. If I have collected the most slices of a particular cake, I get points equal to the number on one of those slices. The number also tells us how many slices of that cake are in the game. It doesn’t matter how many slices I have, the points for having the majority are always the same.
If there is a tie for the most slices of a cake, everyone who is tied gets the full points for that cake. We all feel like winners!
The slices we eat
Now let’s flip over the slices we haven’t eaten yet. Each slice awards points based on the dollops of whipped cream it has. The more dollops, the more points we score (1-3 points).
If you want to play a longer game, you can play multiple rounds and write down the scores for each round on a piece of paper. The player with the highest total score at the end of the game will be crowned the winner of the cake battle. But don’t forget, the winner will need to go for a long walk to burn off all those calories!
