What You Get
- You will need:
- A board to play on
- 6 game pieces
- 24 paintings
- 24 value cards
- Play money
- Clips
- Two dice
- 6 cards
- A rulebook
Getting Started
First, put the board in the middle of the play area. Next, each player picks a game piece and puts it on any spot in the circle. (At the beginning, you can ignore the instructions on these spots).
After that, shuffle the value cards and put them in a pile, face-down, on the board. Shuffle the painting cards and put them in another pile next to the value cards. Finally, pick one person to be the banker.
The banker gives each person, including themselves, $1,500,000 and puts the rest of the money in an easy-to-reach place. Each player, starting with the banker, takes one painting card and one value card from the piles on the board.
When you play the game, each painting has a secret value that only the owner can see. The paintings are displayed face-up in front of everyone.

How to Play
To decide who goes first, we roll the dice for the highest score. The player with the highest score rolls the dice again and moves their piece the number of spaces shown.
If a player rolls doubles, they don’t get an extra turn. The player can then take any of the following actions, following these rules:
If a player lands on a space that says:
Bank Auction
Private Auction
Auction Rules
The following rules apply to all auctions:
- The opening bid should be at least $100,000. We’re not settling for anything less!
- When placing bids, make sure they are in amounts of at least $50,000. We want to keep things fair and square!
- Anyone can start the bidding, and it doesn’t matter who goes first. We like to keep things spontaneous around here!
- Now, here’s the catch. If someone tries to bid more money than they actually have, they will have to pay $100,000 to the bank. If they can’t afford it, they lose their next turn. However, if the highest bidder realizes their mistake after they’ve paid, they won’t face any penalties. Instead, the auction will be restarted. But if the highest bidder has enough money, they still have to pay the highest bid, even if other bidders couldn’t afford it. It’s all about fairness!
- In the event that two or more players bid the same amount at the same time and there are no higher bids, the auction is canceled.
- During an auction, the player whose turn it is acts as the auctioneer, even if they are also participating in the bidding. The auctioneer’s role is to maintain order and resolve disputes, ensuring that all auction rules are followed.
- After a high bidder pays for and receives their painting and value card, play passes to the next player on the left.
- Remember, borrowing money or privately selling paintings is not allowed.
I have some important rules to share with you about bidding in an auction. Let me break it down for you:
When it comes to auctions, there are a few rules that you need to keep in mind. It’s important to understand how the bidding process works and what to do in various situations. Let me break it down for you:
If you land on a space that says “Buy a painting for ‘x’ dollars,” “Sell any painting to the bank,” or “Buy a painting from another player for $400,000,” here’s what you need to do.
In this game, I have a chance to buy a painting from another player for $400,000. They have to sell it to me if I have the money. On the other hand, I can also sell a painting to the bank for $350,000. It’s a great opportunity to make some profit!
What if I inherit a painting?
If I inherit a painting, it becomes a part of my collection. I can either keep it or decide to sell it later.
How does the game end?
The game comes to an end when all the paintings and value cards are taken from the board. At that point, I add up the cash I have and the value of my paintings to see how much I have in total.
The most exciting part is that the player with the highest total assets is declared the winner!
