  1. First, I’ll start by organizing the Fruit Cards and Weather Cards into different Season Piles. Each pile represents a specific season: Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. I can easily identify which season each pile belongs to by checking the color on the back of the cards. To mix things up, I’ll shuffle each Season Pile, making sure to combine both the Fruit Cards and Weather Cards together.
  2. Now that I have my Season Piles ready, it’s time to adjust the number of cards in each pile based on the number of players. To determine how many cards to remove, I’ll refer to the handy table provided. Once I’ve removed the appropriate number of cards from each pile, I’ll place them back in the game box without peeking. These cards won’t be used in the current game.
  3. The next step is to place all the Fertiliser Cards in the designated Fertiliser Area. This area will ensure that the Fertiliser Cards are easily accessible during the game.
  4. Now, let’s focus on the Harvester Markers. I’ll place all of them in the bottom left area of the game board. As for the Harvester Animal Medals, I’ll set them aside for now, as they won’t be needed just yet.

Hey there! Let me walk you through the steps of setting up the game. First, I’ll draw 2 cards from the Spring Season Pile and place them face up in the Supply Area. Then, I’ll do the same for the Storage Area, but this time I’ll draw 3 cards instead. If I happen to draw any Weather Cards, I’ll set them aside for now and keep drawing cards until both areas have the right number of cards.

Now, let’s figure out who goes first. The starting player will be the one who has most recently eaten grapes. If nobody has chowed down on grapes, we can use any random method to decide.

A Guide to Playing the Game

Welcome to the wonderful world of our game! I’m here to guide you through the exciting gameplay. Are you ready to dive in? Let’s get started!

When it’s your turn, you have two options to choose from. The first one is to cultivate. To do this, you need to play two cards from your hand and then refill your hand back up to four cards. This strategic move will help you plan your next moves and make the most of your resources.

The second option is to harvest. This is the thrilling part where you get to reap the fruits of your labor! You can harvest fruits from one or more fields, depending on your strategy. This is your chance to accumulate points and stay one step ahead of your opponents.

Remember, the game continues in a clockwise direction, with each player taking turns. It’s your time to shine, so make it count!

Don’t forget, the game is not over until it’s over! Keep taking actions, strategizing, and aiming for victory until the final moment of the game. Good luck, and may the best player win!

Cultivate: A Beginner’s Guide

When playing the game, there are different things you can do, depending on the cards you have. Let me break it down for you:

Sow

Imagine you have a card with a fruit on it. You can take that card and put it under a field card in front of you. This is like planting a seed. Remember, only one seed per field card! And don’t forget, you can’t plant a new seed until you’ve harvested the previous one.

Plant

Fertilize

To plant seeds, you need to fertilize the field. This means placing one Fertilize Card on a Field Card that already has a seed. You can find out how to get a Fertilize Card on page 28.

Releasing Fruit

When I want to release a fruit in the game, I can do so by placing one Fruit Card in the Storage Area. It’s important to note that I can’t place a Fertilizer Card for this action. The purpose of releasing a fruit is to make room for new fruits to grow and be harvested.

So here’s the deal: each field can hold a certain number of cards. For mountains, that number is 3. For hills, it’s 5. And for plains, well, you can have as many cards as you want there.

But hold on, there’s a catch! Every fruit card, except for the seed card, and the fertilize card all count towards that limit. Once you reach the maximum number of cards allowed in a field, you can’t add any more.

Uh-oh, you’ve reached the limit of 3 cards. You can’t plant or fertilize any more here.

A2 – It’s time to draw 2 cards

Alright, when you’ve played 2 cards from your hand, it’s time to refill your hand. Just draw 2 cards from either the current Season Pile or the Supply Area, one at a time. That way, you’ll always have 4 cards in your hand.

If you want to play the Fruit Cards game, there’s one thing you need to keep in mind: you always have to draw the cards in a specific order. You start with the Spring pile, then move on to Summer, Autumn, and finally, Winter. It’s important to know that you can only move on to the next pile if the previous one has run out of cards. So, make sure to remember this rule when playing the game!

Note: If you happen to draw any Weather Cards, make sure to put them face up in the Weather Area of the Season Board. Immediately after, draw another card to replace it.

Fertiliser Card

If you play both cards from your hand in the Storage Area through the Release action, you can choose to draw ONE card from the Fertiliser Area when you fill up your hand again.

Remember, your hand limit is still 4 cards. This means you can only draw 1 Fruit Card and 1 Fertiliser Card, not 2 Fruit Cards and 1 Fertiliser Card.

If you have a Field Card with a seed, you can use Fertiliser Cards on it. When I harvest, each Fertiliser Card is worth double and counts as 2 cards for earning Harvester Animal Medals. You can find more details on page 30.

I’ll let you in on a little secret when it comes to counting the number of harvested cards – you need to count them as 2 cards. That’s right, each harvested card carries twice the weight. Pretty neat, huh?

Time to Check the Storage Area!

First things first, I want you to take a look at the Storage Area. If you find that there are 4 or more cards in there, you’ve got some decisions to make. It’s time to refill your hand back to 4 cards, but before you do that, you need to discard all the cards in the Supply Area. Say goodbye to those cards and replace them with the ones in the Storage Area. Don’t forget to keep the discarded cards off to the side – that’s your discard pile. And once you’re done, it’s time to pass the turn to the next player.

If you find that there are less than 4 cards in the Storage Area, you can skip this step entirely. No need to worry about it.

Step 1: Harvesting the Fruits

Alright, let’s start by choosing one or more fields in front of us. Take a look at the options and decide which fields you want to harvest from. Once you’ve made your decision, place all the Fruit Cards facedown in front of you. These cards will earn you points later on.

Now, let’s take care of the Fertiliser Cards. If you have any, return them to the Fertiliser Area on the Game Board. These cards won’t count towards your score. Next, grab the Fruit Cards that you used as seed and set them aside in the discard pile.

Note: You have the option to harvest from a field that only has a seed. It won’t give you any points, but it will allow you to sow the Field Card again. Keep this in mind as you make your choices.

How to Earn Points and Harvester Animal Medals in B2

Hey there! I’m here to tell you all about how you can earn some awesome Harvester Animal Medals in B2. Let’s dive in!

To start off, you need at least 3 cards in your fields. Once you’ve got that covered, it’s time to harvest some fruits! For each different fruit you’ve harvested, count up the total number of Fruit Cards (excluding the seeds) and Fertilizer Cards. Oh, and for the Fertilizer Cards, we count them as 2 cards for the purpose of harvesting. Pretty nifty, huh?

Now here’s where it gets really interesting. If the total number of cards you’ve counted is more than the number on the Harvester Marker, you’re in luck! You get to grab a Harvester Animal Medal that matches the fruit you harvested. You then proudly place it in front of you. And get this – even if you have to take the medal away from another player, you still get to keep it. That’s what I call a win!

Now that you’ve got your shiny new medal, it’s time to update the Harvester Marker. Just move it to a new spot on the number row. And guess what number you should choose? You got it – make it equal to the sum of the cards you counted. Simple, right?

Just one more thing before we wrap things up. Once you’ve harvested a Field Card, it becomes empty and ready for some fresh fruits. And then it’s time for the next player to take their turn. And the harvesting fun continues!

Watch Out for Weather Catastrophes!

Now, I have a little warning for you. There might be some Weather Catastrophes around the corner. Brace yourself!

So here’s the deal – the Weather Cards come in two flavors: Blazing Sun and Pouring Rain. When you slap a Weather Card onto the Weather Area of the Season Board, we gotta run some checks to see what’s up:

How to play Harvest Island Official Game Rules UltraFoodMess

Whenever you have both the Blazing Sun and the Pouring Rain in play, you must discard one card of each of those types.

How to play Harvest Island Official Game Rules UltraFoodMess

Let’s talk about what happens in the game when there are 3 Weather Cards of the same type, either 3 Blazing Sun or 3 Pouring Rain. When this happens, it’s not good news. We call it a Weather Catastrophe, and it stops the game right away.

What happens during a Weather Catastrophe?

How to play Harvest Island Official Game Rules UltraFoodMess

When it comes to this event, each one of us will have to deal with the consequences individually. Take a moment to look at the Field Cards in front of you. The field that has the most cards out of the three will suffer the consequences. But don’t worry, I’ll guide you through it. We need to discard half of the cards on that field, rounding down. Start with the Fruit Cards that have higher point values. Remember, we can’t discard the Fruit Card we used as the seed, and we should also keep the Fertiliser Cards. Once we’ve resolved the catastrophe, we can discard all the cards in the Weather Area of the Season Board. They will go to the discard pile and we can continue playing as usual.

If you need to get rid of more cards than you have fruit cards in a field, just discard all the fruit cards in that field. For instance, let’s say Henry has 5 cards in a field (4 fertilizers and 1 fruit card) when a Weather Catastrophe hits. He would have to discard 2 cards (5 divided by 2 equals 2.5, rounded down to 2). Since he can’t discard the seed and fertilizers, he only has to discard the one fruit card.

The game doesn’t end when the Winter Season Pile runs out. It continues until it’s the starting player’s turn again, so everyone has the same number of turns. To calculate your final score:

    1. Add up the numbers in the top left corner of all your harvested fruit cards.

    2. Each Harvester Animal Medal is worth 8 points.

Each card still left on the field after the seeds and fertilizer cards have been removed is worth two points. Keep an eye on the number at the top left corner of all the fruit cards you’ve collected.

The winner of the game is the player with the most points!
