As I played this game, I realized it requires a lot of skill and precision. You need to calculate the right angle and force to make your grasshopper hop exactly where you want it to go. It’s like a game of strategy and accuracy!
The team that successfully knocks over all their blades of grass first is declared the winner. It’s an exhilarating feeling to see your grasshopper hitting the target and hearing the blades of grass toppling over. It’s a moment of triumph!

Components
- 19 Wooden blades of grass
- 2 Grasshoppers
- 1 Fabric bag
- Instructions
Game 1: Knock It Over
The Goal of the Game
Your mission is to topple all the grass blades of your team’s color, and then knock over the lone red blade to achieve victory!
Setup
To play this game, you need ample space on the table, though you can also opt for the floor. Begin by placing the red blade of grass in the center of the table, and surround it with two circular formations made up of the remaining blades of grass.
The inner circle consists of six grass blades, with three in light green and three in dark green. The outer circle is made up of twelve blades, with six in light green and six in dark green.
Have you ever tried arranging blades of grass in a circle? It’s a fun activity that can keep you entertained for hours. Let me tell you how to do it.
First, gather some blades of grass. Make sure you have both light green and dark green ones. Lay them out in a circle, but make sure they alternate between light and dark green. This will create a beautiful pattern.
Next, create a space the length of one grasshopper between the red blade of grass and the inside circle. This will add some visual interest to your design.
Finally, leave the same amount of space between the inside and outside circles. This will give your arrangement a balanced and harmonious look.
So there you have it – a simple way to create a circle of grass using different shades of green. It may seem like a small thing, but it can bring a lot of joy and creativity to your day.
Split into two Grasshopper Teams
Now we’re going to divide ourselves into two teams: You can choose how to split our players. We can have two against two, or one against three, or even two against one, and so on.
Each team will pick a grasshopper: One team will play with the light green grasshopper, while the other team will play with the dark green one. The light green blades of grass will belong to the team with the light green grasshopper, and the dark green ones will belong to the team with the dark green grasshopper.
The two grasshopper teams will sit on opposite sides of the table, or they can sit across from each other on the floor.
Playing the Game
The team with the youngest player will start. One player will take the grasshopper and choose a spot to make the first jump. Place the grasshopper in a way that it is aimed at a blade of grass of its own color.
When it comes to starting, I can begin anywhere I want. But as a grasshopper, I have to remember to stay at least half an arm’s length away from the blades of grass every time I jump. To get me to jump into the air, all you have to do is press down on my two wingtips with your finger and then release.
In the first game, it’s best if you keep a distance of half an arm’s length between me and the blade of grass. But for the second game, it’s recommended to have a distance of one arm’s length. Of course, these are just suggestions. Depending on how old and skilled you are, you can always adjust the distance.
Once you have a little practice, you’ll be able to control where I jump, how high I go, and how far I travel.

- In the game of Grasshopper, every blade that gets knocked over must be taken off the table, whether it’s light green or dark green.
- If you knock over the red blade and still have other blades of your color standing, you have to set the red one back up. Not only that, but the other team can choose one of their blades to remove from the game. Remember, this rule applies even if you knock over the red blade and your team’s last blade at the same time!
Let me tell you about a fun game called “Grasshopper Jump!” In this game, you need to knock over a blade of grass using a grasshopper. It may sound simple, but it’s not as easy as it seems. Let me explain how it works.
First, divide into two teams and gather around a table. Place the grasshopper on the table, ready to jump. Each team takes turns trying to make the grasshopper jump and knock over a blade of grass.
When it’s your team’s turn, you must use your finger to flick the grasshopper, making it jump towards the grass. It takes skill and precision to get it just right. If you successfully knock over a blade of grass, your team earns a point.
But here’s the catch – if the grasshopper doesn’t knock over a blade of grass, nothing happens. It’s important to keep trying and experimenting with different techniques to improve your chances of success.
Afterward, the player from your team who made the grasshopper jump passes it to the next player. The game continues like this, with each team taking turns and trying to make the grasshopper jump.
Remember, it’s crucial that every player on your team gets a chance to make the grasshopper jump and contribute to the game.
Grasshopper Jump is a great game that requires teamwork, strategy, and skill. It’s a fantastic way to have fun and challenge yourself while spending time with friends and family. So gather your team, set up the grasshopper, and let the jumping begin!
If you enjoy games that test your hand-eye coordination and precision, then you’ll love Grasshopper Jump. It provides an exhilarating experience and endless entertainment for players of all ages. So, why wait? Give it a try and see how many blades of grass your team can knock over!
By following these guidelines and practicing, you’ll soon become a master in Grasshopper Jump. So gather your friends, set up the grasshopper, and let the jumping begin!

Game Over!
Once my team knocks over all of our own blades of grass, it’s time to take down the red one.
If we’re the first team to knock over the red blade of grass, we win!
Game 2: A Maze for Grasshoppers
Goal of the Game
To win, my team needs to complete the obstacle course and knock over the red blade of grass before anyone else.
Getting Ready
Let’s find a big area on the floor to set up our grasshopper obstacle course. We’ll use the wooden blades of grass to create it.
We can look around the room and choose spots where we want to place the blades of grass. We’ll put a light green blade next to a dark green blade at each spot.
So, here’s what you need to do: First, make sure there’s enough space between each obstacle. It should be about the length of your arm – that way, you’ll have plenty of room to maneuver!
Next, place a red blade of grass at the very end of the course. This will be the finish line. Now, it’s time to decide on a starting point. Again, make sure it’s at least an arm’s length away from the first blade of grass.
Okay, now it’s game time! Ready? Set…hop! Place your grasshoppers at the starting point and watch them go. See how fast they can make it to the finish line!
Oh, and here’s a little tip for you: get creative with your obstacles! You can change the height of the blades of grass or hide them in sneaky spots. Just make sure they’re not too high off the ground – your grasshoppers need to be able to reach them.
As you get better at creating obstacle courses, you can make them more challenging. Start off easy, then gradually make things harder. Your grasshoppers will love the extra challenge!
I hope these tips help you create an amazing obstacle course for your grasshoppers. Have fun and happy hopping!

Let the Games Begin!
Alright, folks, it’s time to get this show on the road! First things first, we need to split up into two teams. How you divide yourselves is totally up to you. Once you’ve got your teams sorted, each team will pick a grasshopper to navigate through the obstacle course. One team gets the light green grasshopper, and the other team gets the dark green one.
It’s important to remember that the light green blades of grass belong to the team with the light green grasshopper, while the dark green blades belong to the team with the dark green grasshopper. Each team can move freely throughout the space during the game.
Let the Games Begin!

Let’s Get Rolling!
The team with the youngest player will kick off the action. They’ll place their grasshopper at the starting spot of the obstacle course. Here’s an important rule: you have to knock over the obstacles in order, even if there’s an easier one nearby. It’s all about the challenge!
To get the grasshopper to jump, all I have to do is press down on its two wingtips and then let go. It’s kind of like a game where teams compete, and each team gets a turn to launch their grasshopper.
Here’s how it works: if my grasshopper knocks over my team’s blade of grass, I can take it out of the game. But if I also knock over the other team’s blade of grass, I have to put it back where it was. Since I knocked over my own blade of grass, it’s still my turn and I can keep going to try and knock over the next obstacle. If I’m successful and knock over another one of my team’s blades of grass, I get another turn to jump. And I can keep going like that, knocking over more blades of grass and getting more turns.
But let’s say my grasshopper only knocks over the other team’s blade of grass. In that case, I have to set their blade of grass back up and I don’t get to remove any blades that turn. It’s a bit of a challenge, but that’s part of the fun!
- I knock over the grasshopper and reset the game board.
Now it’s the other team’s turn. They knock over the grasshopper and reset the game board, just like I did. We keep taking turns, alternating between teams, and knocking over the grasshopper.
But here’s the thing: We can’t move the grasshopper to a different spot. No matter where it lands, that’s where it has to jump from next.
So, the next player on my team has to make the grasshopper jump from wherever it landed last. They can turn the grasshopper around to make it easier to hit one of the blades of grass, though.

Game Over, Grasshopper!
Once my team and I finished the obstacle course, we were eager to take on the final challenge – knocking over the red blade of grass. It was a race against the clock and our opponents, but we were determined to emerge victorious!
Caution! Watch Out for Hazards!
- While you’re in the midst of this intense game, always keep in mind the potential for injuries. Avoid the grasshopper jumping into someone’s face – safety first!
- Maintain a safe distance from the player who’s controlling the grasshopper’s jumps. It’s all fun and games, but we need to prioritize everyone’s well-being.
- Be responsible and play with the grasshopper in an area where it won’t cause any harm. Let’s keep the fun going without any unfortunate mishaps!
