FITS – How to Play

Hey there! Today, I want to talk to you about a super cool game called FITS. It’s all about fitting different shapes together and it’s tons of fun! Let’s get started by learning the rules.

In FITS, you are given a game board that looks like a grid. Each grid space has a specific shape and color. Your goal is to fit different puzzle pieces onto the board in a way that matches the shapes and colors.

Now, let’s talk about the puzzle pieces. There are different types of puzzle pieces, each made up of a combination of squares and half-squares. These pieces come in different shapes and colors and it’s your job to figure out how to fit them onto the board.

Here’s the catch – you need to fit the puzzle pieces onto the board in a way that matches the pattern shown on a card. These cards show you a specific pattern that you need to recreate using the puzzle pieces. You’ll need to pay attention to the color, shape, and placement of the pieces to make sure you get it right.

To start the game, you’ll draw a card from the deck. This card will show you the pattern you need to recreate. Then, you’ll grab the corresponding puzzle pieces and start placing them onto the board. Remember, you need to match the colors and shapes!

As you place the puzzle pieces, you need to be careful. Once a piece is in place, you can’t move it, so you’ll need to think strategically about where to put each piece. You want to make sure you can fit all the pieces onto the board without any leftover spaces.

The game continues until you’ve either completed the pattern or run out of puzzle pieces. If you complete the pattern, congratulations! You’ve won the game! If you run out of puzzle pieces before completing the pattern, don’t worry – you can always try again.

FITS is a game that challenges your spatial reasoning skills and problem-solving abilities. It’s a great game to play with friends or family, and it’s suitable for players of all ages. So why not give it a try? I’m sure you’ll have a blast fitting those puzzle pieces together!

Remember, the key to success in FITS is paying attention to the patterns, colors, and shapes. So grab a deck of cards, gather your puzzle pieces, and let the fitting fun begin!

So here’s the deal, folks. We’ve got a game where we try to fit these different-shaped tiles onto our own boards. This is all about racking up as many points as we can, so we need to strategize and make some smart moves.

Getting Started

Before we jump in, there are a few things we need to do:

  • First, we gotta take those starting and building cards off their panels. They’re ready to be set free!
  • We need to get rid of that pesky plastic wrapping. Say goodbye to it!
  • Now, let’s separate those 4 ramps from each other. They’re meant to be independent.
  • And lastly, we’re gonna stick 4 anti-skid pads on the bottom of each ramp. No slipping and sliding allowed!

Okay, now it’s time to divvy up the goods. Each player gets:

  • All the tiles of their favorite color. That’s right, choose your fave!
  • Both game boards in the same color as your tiles. Matchy-matchy!
  • A ramp and cover. These babies are gonna come in handy.

If we’ve got less than 4 players, any leftover pieces go back in the box. We don’t want any loose ends, folks!

Now, we’re gonna shuffle those 4 starting cards and the 16 building cards separately. Then, we’ll place those two decks face down on the table. Ready to go!

Hey there! Ready to have some fun? All you need is a sheet of paper and a pencil to keep score. Simple, right? Let’s get started!

Welcome! Let me tell you all about the exciting game play of this game.

I’m going to break it down into different parts, so it’s easier to understand.

First, we have 4 rounds in total. Each round is made up of a few phases.

Phase 1 is all about inserting the game board. This is where we set up the playing area for the game.

In phase 2, we turn over a starting card and position that tile on the board. This is an important step because it determines where the game begins.

Phase 3 is where things get really interesting. We turn over building cards and position the corresponding tiles. This is how we add more elements to the game and make it more challenging.

So, that’s the basic idea of the game play. It’s all about setting up the game board, positioning tiles, and adding more elements as we go.

Now that you know how the game works, are you ready to give it a try? I promise, it’ll be a lot of fun!

Hey there! Let’s talk about this super cool game I found. You see, there are these game boards and they’re numbered from 1 to 4. Each board has a neat grid with 6 rows and 12 columns filled with dotted spaces.

Here’s the interesting part – boards 2, 3, and 4 have special spaces! These spaces have some special rules for scoring that I’ll tell you about later.

Now, when we play the game, things get even more exciting. In the first round, we all play with board 1. Then, in the second round, we switch to board 2. And it keeps going like that for the rest of the rounds. Pretty cool, right?

Oh, I almost forgot! We need to make sure we put the game boards into this thing called a ramp. The ramp is designed to hold the boards in place, and it also lets us see the number at the top of each board. Handy, isn’t it?

Finally, to make everything look nice and neat, we put a cover over the ramp. You can see exactly how it’s done in the illustration. Doesn’t it look fancy?

2. Flipping a starting card and placing the matching tile

So, here’s what you do. First, grab a starting card from the big pile right in front of you. Then, it’s time to reveal the magic! Flip the card over and see what kind of tile you’ve got. Maybe it’s a grassland or a forest, maybe even a desert! Whatever it is, you’re in luck because there’s a matching tile just waiting to be placed on your board.

  • You can choose any column.
  • You can position the tile however you want. Each tile has up to 8 different possibilities:

The picture on the card only shows which tile to use. It doesn’t decide which direction.

Put the starting tile in place

Place the tile at the top of the ramp on the board so that the notches on the tile fit onto the tracks of the board.

Then slide it down the ramp until it gets to the bottom. You can’t adjust the tile while it’s sliding down the ramp.

You keep your starting cards until the end of each round.

3. Flipping over building cards and putting the corresponding tiles in position

Allowed

Once everyone has placed their starting tile, it’s time to reveal the first building card.

Now, it’s your turn to choose a tile from your supply. Slide it down your ramp and see where it lands.

Remember these rules:

  • We all use the same tile at the same time.
  • If your starting card matches the building card, you skip your turn.
  • If you don’t want to place a tile, that’s okay. Just set it aside.

Hello there! Let me explain how this game works. You start off with a set of building cards, and each round, you get to choose which ones you want to use. But here’s the catch: each building card can only be used once in a round, so you have to think strategically about which cards to use and when.

Keep in mind: If you set aside any tiles, you won’t be able to use them again until the next round. So choose wisely!

Now pay attention: You can only place tiles in gaps that are accessible from above. So make sure you don’t try to put a tile in a spot that you can’t reach!

When we’ve all placed our tiles on the building card, it’s time to move on to the next one. We flip it over and add it to the pile, keeping it face-up. Now we each choose the new game tile shown on the card and place it on our own board. And just like that, we keep going.

Once we’ve used up all the building cards, the round is done. Now it’s time to tally our points. Let me explain how that works.

For the next round, we’ll position board 2 on the ramp and shuffle the starting and building cards again. The third and fourth rounds follow the same procedure.

Scoring is based on our game boards. Each board has its own scoring system.

Here’s a general rule that applies to all the boards: if there are any dots left uncovered by the end of the round, you’ll get a penalty point for each one. But remember, there are a few special spaces on boards 2, 3, and 4 where this rule doesn’t apply.

Let me break down the rules for each board:

  • Board 1: Every complete (continuous) row horizontally gives you 1 point.
  • Board 2: This board has some special spaces with bonus points ranging from 1 to 3. Any number that remains visible at the end of a round adds that many points to your score.
  • Board 3: On this board, there are spaces with bonus points and penalty points. Each number that remains visible at the end of a round can either increase or decrease your score.
  • Board 4: This board features five different symbols, with each symbol appearing twice.
    • If you have a pair of symbols that are both still visible at the end of the round, you gain 3 bonus points.
    • If you have a pair of symbols where only one is still visible, you receive 3 penalty points.

Now you have a good understanding of how each board works. Good luck and have fun!

How to Play the Game

Important! Please read the rules carefully before you begin playing.

First, set up the game by arranging the ramps and boards as shown in the diagram below. You’ll notice that each board has a different number of symbol pairs.

Next, choose a player to go first. On your turn, you’ll select a board and place it on a ramp. The goal is to cover as many symbol pairs as possible.

Here’s how scoring works:

  • If both symbols on the ramp are completely covered, you score points equal to the number of symbol pairs on the board.
  • If one symbol is partially covered, you score half the points.
  • If neither symbol is covered, you don’t score any points.

Example:

Let’s say I choose the ramp with 3 symbol pairs and I cover both symbols completely. I would then score 3 points for that turn.

After each turn, the used board is removed, and a new board is placed on the ramp.

End of the Game

The game ends after the fourth round. Add up all the points from the previous rounds and determine the player with the most points. That player is the winner!

In the event of a tie, there can be multiple winners.

Helpful Hints

  • Storage: When you’re done playing, store the tiles inside the ramps and secure them with the covers for easy cleanup.
  • Duration: If you want a shorter game, you can omit some of the boards. For more variety, play the boards in a different order.
