Clue – The Big Bang Theory Game Rules

Hey there! Have you ever played the Clue board game? It’s a super cool game where you become a detective and try to solve a mystery. I’m gonna tell you all about the Clue game based on the popular TV show, The Big Bang Theory.

So, in this game, you and your friends will take on the roles of the main characters from the show. You’ll have to use your detective skills to figure out who committed the crime, what weapon they used, and where it happened. Exciting, right?

To start the game, each player will get a character card, a weapon card, and a room card secretly. These cards will determine the solution to the mystery. The game board represents the main locations from the show, like Penny’s apartment and the comic book store.

During the game, players will move around the board, entering different rooms. When you enter a room, you can make a suggestion. For example, you can say, “I think Leonard did it in the Cheesecake Factory with the lightsaber.” Another player will then show you if they have any of the cards you mentioned.

The goal is to eliminate suspects, weapons, and locations from your list of possibilities. As you gather more information, you’ll start to narrow down the options and figure out the truth. The first player to make an accurate accusation wins the game.

But be careful, my friend! Making a wrong accusation will result in elimination from the game. You’ll have to use your deductive skills and carefully consider each piece of information you receive. It’s a challenging game that tests your ability to solve a mystery.

So, grab your detective hat and get ready to uncover the truth in Clue – The Big Bang Theory edition. It’s a game that combines strategy, deduction, and lots of fun. Are you up for the challenge? Let’s solve the mystery together!

Let’s Play the Game!

Here’s how it works: your mission is to solve the act of betrayal. The goal is simple – be the first player to uncover the suspect, misdeed, and room card hidden away in the yellow envelope.

Getting Started

Now that we’re all set, let’s dive into the setup.

Start by placing all six suspect movers and all six misdeed tokens in the center of the board, regardless of the number of players. Then, select a character from the list of suspects to play as. You’ll use the mover that matches your character’s color to travel around the gameboard.

  • First, you need to choose a personality card for your suspect.
  • On one side of the card is the power that the suspect has. You can use this power once during the game. Once you’ve used it, flip the card over to reveal the personality side. The personality side has a quote from the suspect, but it doesn’t affect the game.
  • Next, you need to sort the Black CLUE cards into three decks: Suspect, Misdeed, and Room.
    • Shuffle each deck separately and place them face-down on the table.
    • Without looking, take the top card from each deck and put them into the Yellow Envelope. These cards represent the suspect, misdeed, and room involved in the act of betrayal!
    • Put the Yellow Envelope to the side of the board.
  • Finally, you need to shuffle the remaining Black CLUE cards together.

Here’s how to play the game of CLUE:

    1. Deal out all of the cards, making sure each player has the same number. Keep your cards a secret!

    2. If there are any leftover cards, place them face-up at the side of the board.

    3. Give each player a CLUE Sheet and a pen. Keep your CLUE Sheet a secret!

    4. Without anyone seeing, cross off the Black CLUE cards you have and any leftover cards on the table. These cards are not part of the betrayal!

    5. Throughout the game, you will get to see other players’ cards one at a time. Cross off any cards you see on your CLUE sheet. These cards are not part of the betrayal.

Now you’re ready to start playing CLUE! Good luck finding out who did it!

Shuffle the Sheldon Cards and keep them aside for extra moves in the game. If you prefer to play the original CLUE, put them back in the box.

  • Game Play

    1. Decide Who Goes First

We all roll the dice. The person who rolls the highest number goes first, and then we take turns going clockwise.

    2. On your turn, roll the dice, move, and enter a room

    • Roll the dice and move your suspect mover that same number of spaces around the board. (Or, if another player moved your mover, you can choose to stay where you are and ask a question without moving).
    • You can move up, down, left, or right through the Hallway, but not diagonally.
    • You can only enter or exit a room through the red door thresholds.
    • Always try to enter a room (any room will do when you start). You don’t have to roll the exact number to enter a room; if your roll takes you past the room, just stop your move early and enter the room.

I’m Leonard! I rolled a seven, so I moved from the Laundry Room to the Stairwell through the Hallway.

If your roll is too low to enter a room, grab a Sheldon card!

If I roll a low number and can’t enter a room, I should aim to land on a Sheldon Card space!

    • I don’t need to roll an exact number to stop on a Sheldon Card space. When I land there, I can pick up the top Sheldon Card and follow the instructions.
    • After I use the card, I should place it on the discard pile. If I don’t want to use the Sheldon Cards, or if I simply don’t have one, I can just move my suspect mover towards the next room I want to enter.

    3. Next, I should ask a clue question and get an answer.

How to play Clue The Big Bang Theory Official Rules UltraFoodMess

    • When you enter a room, you should stop and ask a CLUE question. Ask about one suspect, one misdeed, and the room you just entered.
    • For example, let’s say you entered the Bathroom. You can ask a question like, “Did Raj Dog-ear the Comic in the bathroom?” Remember, it’s best to ask about suspects, misdeeds, and rooms that you haven’t crossed off your CLUE Sheet yet.
    • Bring the suspect’s mover and the misdeed token that you’re asking about with you into the room.
    • The player on your left will be the first to try to answer your question. If they have any of the cards that you asked about, they must secretly show you one of them. But remember, they should only show you one card!
    • If the player doesn’t have any of the cards that you asked about, they will say, “I cannot answer,” and the question will pass to the next player on the left. This will continue until someone shows you one card.

Hey there, it’s me, Amy. I’ve got Penny and the Dismantled Shelbot here with me in the Laundry Room, and I have a burning question to ask: Did Penny actually take apart the Shelbot in this room?

What if nobody can give me a card?

Well, first things first, let’s keep a straight face! As long as I wasn’t trying to deceive anyone by asking about one of my own cards, I’ve actually managed to deduce which cards are hiding in the Envelope.

    4. Lastly, wrap up your turn by crossing off your CLUE sheet.

How to play Clue The Big Bang Theory Official Rules UltraFoodMess

    • I’m gonna check off the card I just saw on my CLUE Sheet. It’s not in the Envelope, so it’s not part of the betrayal that’s going on!
    • I’ll leave the suspect mover and the misdeed token where they are. If the suspect mover belongs to someone else, they can ask a question on their next turn without moving.
    • My turn is done now. No matter who answered my question, the player on my left goes next.

Once I’ve checked off everyone’s cards on my CLUE Sheet, I’ll be ready to solve this act of betrayal!

    Crafty Moves to Pull

Sneaking around by using doorways and secret passages.

How to play Clue The Big Bang Theory Official Rules UltraFoodMess

In case you’re in a room that has a Joining Room or Secret Passage that leads to another room, you have the ability to move into the other room at the start of your turn without rolling the dice. It’s like a secret shortcut!

However, keep in mind that you cannot simply pass through one room and into another or head straight into the Hallway in a single turn. Whenever you enter a room, you must take a moment to stop and ask a question. It’s all part of the detective process.

    End of the Game

Now comes the exciting part – making your final accusation! This is when you gather all your evidence and make your best guess about who committed the crime, with what weapon, and in which room.

How to play Clue The Big Bang Theory Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When you’ve asked lots of questions and narrowed down your options to just three cards on your CLUE Sheet, you’re ready to uncover the truth!

Your goal is to reach the gray rectangular space in the middle of the board. Once you’re there, make your accusation by saying it out loud: “I think Howard wiped the hard drive in the kitchen!” After that, secretly check the cards in the Envelope.

How to play Clue The Big Bang Theory Official Rules UltraFoodMess

    Did you get it right?

Yes, I got all three cards correct!

You did it! Congrats! You solved the act of betrayal! Now, let’s reveal the cards in the Envelope to show everyone.

Hmm, I made a mistake. Something went wrong! I’m out of the game. I’ll secretly put the cards back in the Envelope without letting the others know which ones I got wrong.

    • I’ll keep my cards hidden and continue answering other players’ questions.
    • I won’t ask any more questions or make any more accusations.

But what happens if everyone gets it wrong?

If everyone makes an incorrect accusation, the act of betrayal remains a mystery. We’ll take the cards out of the Envelope and see which suspect managed to get away with it!

Rules for Playing with 2 Players or Teams

Hey, here’s a fun twist on playing CLUE that you might enjoy! I’ll walk you through the instructions.

If you’re playing with just 2 players or teams, no worries! We’ve got some special rules to add to your game. And if you’re playing in teams, it’s a great way to get everyone involved, even the younger players!

    1. First, let’s talk about the setup. It’s a little different compared to the classic version of CLUE. Here’s what you do:
      • Follow steps 1 and 2 of the setup, just like you normally would.
      • Now, in step 3, take all the Black CLUE cards that are left and shuffle them together, like usual. But here’s the twist: before you give them out to the players or teams, pick the top four cards and place them facedown in a row to the side of the game board.
      • Continue with step 4 of the setup as you normally would.
      • But, here comes another change: skip step 5. In a 2-player or Team game, you won’t need to use the Sheldon Cards.

I’m going to tell you about a cool version of the game CLUE that you can play with two players or teams. There are some differences in this version, so let me explain how it works.

When you play 2-player/Team CLUE, there’s something different about what happens when nobody can answer your question. Normally, the other player or team would answer your question, but in this version, you get to do something special.

    Here’s what you do:

    1. First, you ask your question just like you would in the regular game.
    2. If the other player or team can’t answer your question, here’s where the fun begins. You get to secretly look at one of the four cards on the side of the board. When you’ve seen the card, you mark it off on your CLUE Sheet and put it back in the same spot.
    3. Every time the other player or team can’t answer one of your questions, you get to secretly look at a different one of the four cards on the side of the board.

So, now you know how to play 2-player/Team CLUE. It’s a cool twist on the classic game, and it makes things even more interesting!
