Chatter Matters: Game Rules

Hey there! Welcome to Chatter Matters, the most exciting guessing game you’ll ever play! In this game, you get to test your creativity and communication skills to the max!

So here’s how it works: you gather a group of friends or family members, sit in a circle, and get ready to have a blast. Each player will take a turn being the “guesser,” while the others become the “describers.”

The guesser will put on a blindfold and draw a random card from the deck. Each card has a word or phrase written on it. But here’s the twist: the guesser can’t see the card!

Now, it’s up to the describers to help the guesser figure out what’s written on the card. But here’s the catch: they can’t say the word or phrase out loud! Instead, they have to describe it using only words.

For example, if the word is “cat,” the describers might say things like “It’s a furry pet that likes to nap,” or “It says ‘meow’ and catches mice.” The guesser will have to listen carefully and try to guess the word based on these clues.

When the guesser thinks they know the word, they can take off the blindfold and make their guess. If they get it right, they win a point! If not, they can keep listening to the describers’ clues until they figure it out. The round continues until the guesser successfully guesses the word.

Now, you might be wondering, how do I win the game? Well, the player with the most points at the end of all the rounds wins! It’s that simple.

Chatter Matters is not just a game of guessing words – it’s a game of teamwork, creativity, and laughter. So gather your friends, and let the chatter begin!

Let’s Get to Know Each Other Better!

Do you want to have fun with your family and learn more about each other? Well, I’ve got a game for you! In this game, the goal is to be the first one to fill your Chip House with 15 chips and make your wish come true. Are you ready?

But wait: The real purpose of this game is to bond and have a good time. We want you to talk and share your thoughts. Remember, every family is special and unique.

Some of the cards might not fit your family, so feel free to change them or pick a different one. Let’s have fun and make your wishes come true together with your family!

Let’s Get Started!

  1. First, get some paper and pencils for everyone playing.
  2. Next, place the Game board in the middle of where you’re playing.
  3. Then, organize the Playing Cards by color and put them on the matching rooms in the center of the board, like My Room, Games Room, Family Room, and Kitchen.
  4. After that, each player needs to pick a House Mover and a Chip House that match.
  5. Finally, every player gets a Wish Card that is the same color as their House Mover. This card has options on both sides, so you can make a wish by remembering it or writing it down. If you want, you can even come up with your own wish. If you win and “Fill Up your House!”, your family will grant your wish.

Imagine this: you and your friends are ready to play a fun board game. It’s called “Chores & Allowance,” and I’ll explain the rules to you. First, choose someone to be the Banker. The Banker’s job is to hand out chips and make sure there are always at least 2 chips on the “Chores/Allowance” corner. The Banker should also give each player 2 chips to put in their Chip House.

Now it’s time to start the game! Place your House Mover on the “Start” corner. The youngest player goes first, and then the game continues clockwise. Roll the dice and move your House Mover the number of spaces shown on the dice. When you land on a space, draw a card that matches its color. Be sure to pay attention to any special instructions on the Command spaces, like going to “Time Out” or doing “Chores.”

But what if you land on a corner? Well, let me tell you. If you land on the Start corner, you get to pick a Green card. And if you land on the Pick Any corner, you can choose any color card you want.

So gather your friends, designate a Banker, and get ready for a lively game of “Chores & Allowance”!

Imagine you’re in the Time Out corner. It’s your chance to have a moment to yourself. If you end up in this corner by landing on the exact number with the die, you’re just passing through, and you can play a Purple or Living room card.

If you land on this corner by rolling the exact number or if the game directs you there, collect your allowance and choose a Flue or My room card.

Each card asks a question or gives you instructions for an activity. Simply follow the instructions on the card. Sometimes, the card may ask you to explain or say “why” for an answer. Remember, these conversations are just for fun and don’t earn any scoring chips.

All scoring chips come from the Danker, unless the card specifies otherwise. If you lose any chips, discard them on the Chores or Allowance Corner, unless the card says otherwise.

If I don’t know the answer to a question, I won’t get any points for that card. But that’s okay because this game isn’t just about winning; it’s about having fun and learning about my family. So, I can always ask the other players if they know the answer and we can discuss it together.

If I draw a card that doesn’t apply to me or the other players, I can put it back at the bottom of the pile and draw another card. This way, the game stays fair and everyone gets a chance to answer questions that are relevant to them.

The game keeps going as players take turns rolling the die and playing out the cards. The goal is to earn 15 chips, which is a full house, and be the first to win. When someone wins, the rest of us have to grant their wish.

Now, let’s talk about the different categories in the house. The blue cards represent “My Room.”

Fun facts about you! These questions are all about you and your personal life. Let’s dive in and learn some interesting things about you. Remember to follow the instructions on each card for gameplay and scoring.

Your Family Room (Purple Cards)

Let’s Play Family Trivia! It’s my turn, and I’ll answer a question about me or my family. See if you can judge if my answers are correct. Make sure to read the instructions on each card for how to play and keep score.

The Kitchen (Orange Cards)

How to play Chatter Matters Official Game Rules UltraFoodMess

What’s Cooking? Command cards and conversation starters for the home. When you choose an Orange card from the Kitchen, you must do what it says and initiate a “Conversation Starter”.

Games Room (Green Cards)

Let’s talk about the different games within the game!

  1. Poodles: I get to secretly choose one of the three items to draw. If you’re the first player to correctly identify my doodle, we each score one chip.
  2. Home Movies: Now it’s my turn to secretly choose one of the three “Movies” to act out, just like in Charades. If you’re the first person to guess the action I’m performing, we each score one chip.
  3. Scavenger Hunt: First, we’ll need to divide into two teams. The team that finds the item first wins! Each player on the winning team scores one chip. This game category is all about teamwork. For example, if the hunt asks for something given to us by a family member, each team member should search for an item that was gifted to them by a family member. The hunt begins as soon as someone says “Go!”

Let’s play a fun game called “Verbal Blitz!” Here’s how it works:

  1. Verbal blitz: First, we need to divide into even teams. Choose one of the three topics to start the game. When we’re ready, I’ll read the topic out loud, and we’ll begin!
  2. Team members will take turns quickly shouting out words or phrases related to the given topic. We’ll go back and forth until one team can’t think of any more items. When that happens, the other team scores one point for each member.

Scoring

Points

All points are tracked by the banker, unless the game specifies otherwise. If you lose points, discard them onto the Chores/Allowance Corner, unless the card says otherwise.

If it’s your turn to distribute points, but you don’t have any left to give, you can take some from the bank and distribute them to the other players.

Lists and Matches

Hey there! Let me explain how scoring works in the game when you match with multiple players. When there are cards with listed answers, like “Everyone Lists 3,” and you happen to match with more than one player, the maximum number of chips you can score per turn is 3.

Now, if you end up matching with more than 3 players, don’t worry! You still only score a maximum of 3 chips. But here’s the cool part – the other players get to score chips too, based on how many answers they matched with you.

Let’s Talk Chip Limits

Most of the time, you can only score up to 3 chips per turn. There are a few special cards in the Family Room and Kitchen that allow you to get a chip from each player, but that’s the exception.

The Exciting End

Now, let’s talk about winning! The first player to collect 15 chips and fill up their Chip House wins the game! And you know what? They also get their wish granted!
