Setup:
To start playing Asara, you’ll need the following:
– The game board, which is a tower made up of different levels.
– A set of building cards, which you’ll use to construct your towers.
– A set of worker cards, which represent the people helping you build.
Objective:
The goal of Asara is to construct the most impressive towers. You’ll do this by collecting building cards, using your worker cards, and strategically placing your cards on the tower levels.
Gameplay:
To begin the game, each player is given a worker card and a set of building cards.
On your turn, you’ll take the following steps:
1. Choose a worker: Select one of your worker cards to use for this turn. Each worker has a special ability that can help you.
2. Collect building cards: Take three building cards from the top of the deck. These cards show different levels and colors.
3. Place building cards: Choose one of the building cards from your collection and place it on one of the levels of the tower. Each level has a specific color requirement, so make sure to match the colors.
4. Activate special abilities: If your worker card has a special ability, you can use it now. This can give you bonuses or help you change the rules.
5. Draw new cards: At the end of your turn, draw new building cards back up to your maximum hand size.
The game continues in this manner, with each player taking turns and building their towers. The game ends when the deck of building cards runs out.
Scoring:
At the end of the game, each player calculates their score. You earn points based on the height and completion of your towers.
The player with the highest score wins the game!
Conclusion:
Now that you understand the rules and objectives of Asara, you’re ready to start playing. Gather your friends and family, and let the tower-building excitement begin!
Welcome to ASARA, a land filled with a thousand towers and enchanting magic. As I step inside, I am captivated by the majestic cities that greet me, adorned with alabaster walls and crowned with shimmering gold domes.
The grandeur doesn’t end there. Everywhere I look, cranes rise high into the sky, diligently working on ambitious construction projects. It’s a spectacle to behold, especially when I spot flying machines carrying heavy materials to dizzying heights.
The Caliph’s call to enhance the beauty of this land has resonated far and wide. That’s why you and I are here – to showcase our architectural prowess and compete with rival architects.
What You’ll Find
- As I begin my exciting journey into the world of board games, I’m presented with a marvelous array of components that make up this captivating game. Let me introduce you to the essentials:
- Firstly, we have the game board itself, which serves as the vibrant marketplace where all the action happens.
- Next, we have the scoring counters, which come in four distinct colors to keep track of our progress.
- The Year Counter is a crucial tool that will guide us through the passage of time in the game.
- Then, we have the Asari Coins, a dazzling currency that will shape our fortune in this game.
- The Tower Pieces are the building blocks that we will manipulate to construct our towering masterpieces.
- Observation Barriers play a vital role in keeping a watchful eye on our opponents’ moves.
- To spice things up, we have the Merchant Cards, a marvelous deck filled with opportunities and surprises.
- And finally, we have the Instructions and Overview Guide, your trusty companions that will help us navigate this thrilling adventure.
Now let’s jump right into the setup:
- Our game board is like a puzzle, and we need to assemble it just right. Start by putting the square parts together in a cross shape, ensuring the prestige bar progresses smoothly from 0 to 100.
- Now, take the four triangles and place them in the corners of the cross. Make sure that two of the triangles with the wells are positioned with the well side showing, and the other two triangles with the building side showing.
Here’s a completely rewritten version of the provided text:
Hey there! So here’s what you need to do to set up the game:
1. First, you gotta sort out the 100 tiles that show different sections of the tower. Put them into 4 separate piles, grouped by their shapes. Oh, and make sure you keep those 15 “lit window” tiles with red backs in the box – they’re not needed unless you’re playing the professional version. And don’t forget to mix up the tiles within each pile!
2. Now, it’s time to place the piles face down on the board in their designated spots. Each pile goes in a different area, so pay attention to where they belong.
3. Take a look at each pile and grab as many tower sections as there are spaces in the market area. Flip those tower sections face up and put one in each space. These sections are what you’ll be selling in the market.
4. Pick a counter in your favorite color and place it on space 0 of the prestige bar. This counter represents you in the game.
5. Lastly, place the year counter on space 1 of the year bar. That’ll keep track of the passing years as you play.
All set! Now you’re ready to start playing! Have fun and may the best tower builder win!
Once you’ve chosen your color, each player takes one of the 4 screens. The Asari coins are divided and placed in the kitty – 25 ones, 16 fives, and 11 tens. The game begins with the player who last climbed a tower, and they receive the patronage of the Caliph, gaining 20 Asari coins. The other players also receive an extra Asari each, in clockwise order (21, 22, and 23 Asari). Everyone places their coins behind their screens.
There are 45 cards representing buyers in 5 different colors. Shuffle all the buyers and distribute them among the players:
– 2 players: 9 buyers each
– 3 players: 8 buyers each
– 4 players: 7 buyers each
Keep your cards hidden from the other players. The remaining buyers are placed facedown in a pile.
Let the Building Contest Begin!
Hey there! Today, I want to tell you all about this cool game that I’ve been playing called “Tower Builders.” It’s a game all about building and competition, and it’s super fun!
So here’s the deal: In “Tower Builders,” you get to be one of the rich building magnates. Pretty fancy, huh? Your goal is to boost your prestige within the Caliphate by constructing the tallest, grandest, and most number of towers in just four years.
To build these magnificent towers, you’ll need to send your buyers to the marketplace. There, they can purchase all the building blocks you need. It’s like a shopping spree for construction materials!
At the marketplace, you’ll find different sections of the tower, like the base, trunk, window, and turret. And guess what? They come in all sorts of colors, like brown, green, red, black, and white. Some of them even have fancy gold decorations on them!
Remember, though, each section has a different price and brings you a different level of prestige. You’ll have to plan wisely and use your resources strategically to beat out the competition.
In the end, the player with the highest prestige becomes the ultimate winner of the game. So, do you think you have what it takes to become the master tower builder? Let’s find out!
How to Play the Game
Alright, let me walk you through how to play this game. It’s actually quite simple. First, let’s distribute all the game components as described in the crib sheet. Got it? Great!
Now, the starting player will take their turn. When it’s your turn, you have two actions you can choose from:
- Dispatch buyers: This means you can lay down a card on the table. Think strategically about which card to play!
- Execute a move: This could be selecting and paying for a tower section. Again, think carefully about your choices!
Once you’ve taken your turn, the next player to your left will go. They will also have these two actions to choose from. And so it continues, going clockwise, with each player taking their turn.
1. How to Send Out Buyers on Their Way
If you’re wondering how to effectively dispatch buyers and ensure a smooth shopping experience for both parties involved, then this guide is for you. As an online seller, I’ve learned a few tricks of the trade that can help save time and minimize confusion. Here are some steps to follow:
1.1 Communication is Key
When it comes to dispatching buyers, clear and timely communication is crucial. Keep the buyer in the loop by promptly acknowledging their purchase, providing them with an estimated dispatch time, and offering any necessary updates along the way. By establishing open lines of communication, you build trust and ensure a positive buying experience from start to finish.
1.2 Prompt Packaging and Labeling
Efficient packaging and labeling are essential for a successful dispatch. Make sure to use appropriate materials to protect the item during transportation. Additionally, ensure that the packaging is sturdy enough to withstand handling. Properly label the package with the buyer’s address and any relevant tracking information. This attention to detail will help prevent any delays or mishaps during delivery.
1.3 Timely Dispatch
Once the item is ready for dispatch, don’t delay – send it on its way as soon as possible. Prompt dispatch is crucial in meeting the buyer’s expectations and ensuring a positive shopping experience. By shipping the item promptly, you demonstrate your commitment to customer satisfaction and establish a reputation for reliable service.
1.4 Tracking and Follow-Up
After dispatching the item, provide the buyer with the necessary tracking information. This enables them to monitor the delivery progress and anticipate its arrival. Additionally, follow up with the buyer to confirm the item’s safe delivery. This gesture shows that you care about their satisfaction and provides an opportunity for any potential issues to be addressed promptly.
1.5 Customer Support
Throughout the dispatch process, be available to assist the buyer with any questions or concerns they may have. Respond promptly and offer solutions to any issues that arise. By providing exceptional customer support, you demonstrate your dedication to their satisfaction and increase the chances of positive feedback and repeat business.
By following these steps, you can effectively dispatch buyers and ensure a smooth shopping experience from the moment they make a purchase until their item arrives. Remember, clear communication, prompt packaging, timely dispatch, tracking, and customer support are the keys to success. Happy dispatching!
When it’s my turn, I pick one of my buyer cards and put it face up in an empty spot in one of the market areas. Here’s how the rules go:
– If there aren’t any other buyers in that area yet, I can choose any color for my buyer card.
– However, if there are already buyers in the area, I have to pick a buyer card of the same color. Gotta stick to the colors already there.
– But let’s say I really want to put a buyer in a certain area, but I don’t have a buyer card of the right color. Well, in that case, I can play any two buyer cards face down on one spot instead. It’s a way to get around the color requirement.
No matter what, I always have to stick to the color rules in all parts of the game, like the bank, building circle, and other market areas. Gotta keep it consistent!
Example 1: Hi there! Let’s talk about Tina and her buyer cards. She’s got 6 of them, and you can see them in the picture above. Tina’s looking to buy a trunk section. Lucky for her, she’s the only one buying in that area right now. So she can choose whichever buyer card she wants and place it in one of the 4 spaces in the trunk area of the market.
Example 2: Now let’s meet Wolfgang. He also wants to buy a trunk section, but there’s already a blue buyer in that area of the market. That means Wolfgang has to follow the same color as the buyer already there. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have a blue buyer card. So here’s what he does: he takes 2 buyers from his hand and places them face down on one of the spaces in the trunk area.
2. Now It’s Time to Make Your Move!
When you place your buyer card in a certain area, you have a few different moves you can make. It all depends on where you put your buyer. Let’s take a look at the possible moves:
Buy Tower Sections
When it comes to building a tower, there are four areas where you can find all the necessary parts. In these market areas, you’ll discover bases, trunks, windows, and turrets. If you decide to use the move “Buy tower sections,” you can choose any section that’s facing up in the market and place it behind your screen. Of course, you’ll need to pay the required number of Asari from your pockets. The price for each color is the same, whether it’s the base or the trunk. For example, a red base costs exactly the same as a red trunk. You can find the prices for each color on the board and on the right side of the screens. And don’t forget, a section with a gold decoration is the same cost as one without any decoration. And just a friendly reminder, it’s important for all players to keep an eye on the payments to ensure fairness. Let’s build those towers!
So, here’s what’s going on: I want to buy a trunk section. I start by laying down my blue buyer card. Then, I grab the black tower section and put it behind my screen. All of this costs me 6 Asari, which I add to the kitty.
Time to Construct a Tower
When you play the tower-building game, you use the building circle to construct your towers. The building circle has 7 different plots, each with a different cost in Asari, ranging from 1 to 7. If you choose to put a buyer card on one of the plots in the building circle, you have to pay the corresponding number of Asari and gather that many tower sections to use. These sections can either be used to create new towers or added to existing ones.
There are a few rules to keep in mind:
- Towers can only consist of one color.
- Each tower is made up of a base and a turret. It can also have any number of trunk parts and windows.
- During your turn, you can build multiple towers. They can be new towers or ones that are already in progress. You can also use different colors for each tower.
- Once a tower is complete, you can continue to add trunk parts and windows to it.
- You cannot swap parts between towers of the same color.
- By the end of your turn, you must have complete towers in front of you. This means each tower must have a base and a turret.
In return for using tower sections during your turn, you will receive prestige points based on the number of sections used.
If you want to build on a plot in the building circle that is already taken, you can place your buyer on the next available plot above it. However, you will have to pay a higher price and use fewer tower sections. You will only receive prestige points based on the number of sections used.
Extra Funds
Hey there! Let me break it down for you. So, here’s the deal: if you put one of your peeps, let’s call them a buyer, in an empty spot in this fancy bank (check out Fig. 1), you get to snag some Asari from the stash. Pretty sweet, right?
Did you know that there’s another way to gather funds in the game? You can do it by utilizing the colored building (Figure 2) located next to the bank. When it’s your turn, you have the option to place any buyer card face down on this building. And guess what? In exchange, you get 5 Asari! Pretty cool, huh?
- You can stack multiple buyer cards on top of each other on the colored building space.
- Unlike the other areas, you don’t need to follow any specific rules or patterns in this space.
Bribery
Now, let me tell you about another interesting move you can make in the game. If you decide to place a buyer card on the House of Spies, you’ll need to pay either 3 or 5 Asari into the kitty. After that, you get to choose one of the four piles of tower sections. You carefully inspect the chosen pile and select a tower section from it. Exciting, right? Here’s the catch – you have to show this card face up to all the other players. And yes, you guessed it, you also need to pay the required number of Asari into the kitty for that section. Once you’ve done that, you place the acquired section behind your screen. The pile is then shuffled and put back on its designated space on the board.
Imagine this scenario: I’m playing a game called “Asara,” and I have an exciting opportunity called “bribery.” Here’s how it works: I place a buyer card on space 3 of the House of Spies, paying 3 Asari into the kitty. Then, I get to select a pile of turrets and choose a black one. I show it to the other players, pay an additional 6 Asari into the kitty, and keep the turret behind my screen. It’s a thrilling move that can give me an advantage in the game.
But here’s the important part: in Asara, the “bribery” option can’t be used to buy a tower section from the market stalls.
Now, let’s talk about another exciting feature in Asara: Caliph’s Patronage.
#image.jpg#image.jpgOne of the interesting things in this game is the Caliph’s Patronage. If a player places a buyer card on this space, they get to instantly take the Caliph’s patronage tile from the player who currently has it. This means that the player who takes the tile becomes the starting player for the next year. It’s a highly sought-after privilege that can significantly impact the game.
The Year Comes to an End
The year reaches its conclusion when every player has placed all their buyer cards on the board. Some players may have already distributed all their buyers if they couldn’t follow suit and thus had to lay down 2 random buyer cards in a single space.
If this happens, those players who don’t have any cards skip their turn until all players have placed their buyers.
Evaluating the End of the Year
After each of the 4 years, we conduct an evaluation and note down the number of prestige points earned by each player on the prestige bar using the counters.
- Every tower that has been built – regardless of color or height – earns 1 prestige point.
- Every gold-decorated section in each tower that has been built so far adds 1 prestige point to the total.
- The Caliph’s patronage is worth 1 prestige point.
Tip: When it comes to towers, it’s important to keep in mind that sections with gold decorations earn new prestige points annually. So, if you’re looking to boost your status, consider purchasing these sections whenever you can.
Once the end-of-year evaluation is complete, the new year starts afresh.
Example: I have 2 towers, 2 gold decorations, and the Caliph’s patronage. This means I get (2+2+1)=5 prestige points.
A Fresh Start
- First, let’s clear the board of all buyer cards.
- Now, we shuffle all 45 buyer cards and distribute them again based on the number of players.
- Next, we fill the empty spots in the market areas with tower sections from the top-up piles. If a pile runs out, it means we can’t fill all the spaces.
- Each player receives 20 Asari, and this time, there’s no sliding scale like at the beginning of the game.
- Remember to keep your money and unused tower sections from previous years behind the screen.
- Then, we move the year counter forward by 1 space.
- The player who has the Caliph’s patronage goes first.
Each of the 4 years follows the same pattern.
Game Over
It’s finally time to wrap things up. After four years of playing, we’ve reached the end. Now it’s time for the big evaluation. Let’s see how we did!
In this final evaluation, we’ll be rewarded with some points based on our tower-building skills. Each color of tower has its own rewards, so let’s find out who built the tallest towers.
First, we need to determine which player has the highest tower for each color. This is the player who stacked the most tower sections of that color. And for some extra recognition, we’ll also find out who has the second-highest tower.
Once we have all that info, it’s time to dish out the prestige points. Check out the chart on the right to see how many points you’ll earn for each color tower you dominated. The higher your tower, the more points you’ll collect.
- If you have the highest or second highest tower overall (in terms of the number of tower sections), regardless of color, you will earn 5 and 4 prestige points respectively.
- If you have the largest or second largest number of towers overall, you will earn 12 and 6 prestige points respectively.
- You will earn 1 prestige point for every 10 Asari you have.
If there is a tie, here’s what happens:
- If two players tie for 1st place, their earned prestige points are combined and divided by the number of towers involved. Each player is then credited with their share of points for each tower. In this scenario, there is no 2nd place.
- If there is a tie for 2nd place, the second highest-scoring players share the prestige points proportionally between them.
- If there is a tie for the largest number of towers, the points are not divided by the number of towers, but rather by the number of players involved.
Gold decorations and the Caliph’s patronage don’t earn any points in the final evaluation.
The player with the most prestige points after the final evaluation wins the game.
So, here’s the thing. If there’s a tie, it means more than one person achieved the same result. And guess what? That means there’ll be more than one winner! How cool is that?
