When it comes to living in this post-apocalyptic world, one thing that you need to be mindful of is radiation poisoning. It’s a serious threat that can harm your health. But what exactly is radiation poisoning and how does it happen? Well, let me explain.
First of all, let’s talk about what radiation is. Radiation is a form of energy that comes from different sources, like the sun or nuclear power plants. It can be in the form of waves or particles, and it has the ability to penetrate our bodies. Sounds pretty scary, right?
Now, when someone is exposed to high levels of radiation, it can cause some serious damage. The radiation can interact with the atoms in our cells and disrupt their normal functioning. This can lead to a range of health problems, from mild symptoms like nausea and fatigue to more severe conditions like cancer and organ failure. Not something you want to mess with.
So, how does radiation poisoning happen exactly? Well, there are a few ways you can get exposed to radiation. One common way is through direct contact with radioactive materials. These materials can be found in things like nuclear waste or contaminated water. If you touch or ingest these materials, you can be exposed to harmful radiation.
Another way radiation can affect you is through exposure to radioactive gases or particles in the air. These can be released into the atmosphere during nuclear accidents or explosions. Breathing in these particles or gases can lead to radiation poisoning.
But it’s not just external sources that can expose you to radiation. Some medical treatments, like radiation therapy for cancer, can also cause radiation poisoning. In these cases, the benefits of the treatment usually outweigh the risks, but it’s still important to be aware of the potential side effects.
Now that you understand what radiation poisoning is and how it happens, let’s talk about how you can protect yourself from it. The first step is to minimize your exposure to radiation. Avoiding areas with high radiation levels, wearing protective clothing and gear, and following safety guidelines are all important measures.
It’s also important to know the signs and symptoms of radiation poisoning. If you experience any unusual symptoms like nausea, vomiting, or hair loss after being exposed to radiation, seek medical attention right away. Early detection and treatment can make a big difference in your recovery.
In conclusion, radiation poisoning is a real threat in this new world we live in. It can have serious consequences for our health. But by understanding how it happens and taking the necessary precautions, you can minimize your risk and stay safe. Remember, your health is in your hands.
- I love diving for resources
- I enjoy drawing Ocean Tiles
- I feel accomplished when I complete a lap on the Survivor Track
Do you want to know what all these things have in common? They are part of an exciting game called “Explorers of the Deep!” It’s a game where you can dive into the unknown, create beautiful artwork, and test your survival skills. Let me tell you why these activities are so important in the game.
Whenever you feel the effects of Toxicity, move one step forward on your Toxicity Track.
When your Tracker reaches the last space, move your Scoring Penalty Marker one step forward. Then, reset your Toxicity Tracker back to the beginning.
When the game is over, you’ll either gain or lose points equal to the number shown on your Scoring Penalty Marker.
But here’s an interesting twist – players with lower Toxicity break any ties that occur, whether it’s for Guild Seal majorities or final scoring.
The Survivor Track and Rescuing Survivors
Throughout the game, there’s a chance for you to discover and save Survivors. You can do this in a couple of ways:
When I’m in the mood for some excitement, there are a few things I can do to amp up the action:
1. Play Crew cards: These special cards give me a boost of power and help me strategize my moves. It’s like having an extra set of skills in my back pocket.
2. Dive for resources: Sometimes, I like to take a risk and dive deep into uncharted territory. It’s a thrill to search for hidden treasures and uncover valuable resources. Plus, it adds a sense of adventure to my gameplay.
3. Gain Influence with the Speakers’ Guild: Building a reputation in the gaming world is no easy feat. But by gaining influence with the Speakers’ Guild, I can make a name for myself and be recognized as a true player of talent. It’s like being a celebrity in the gaming community!
These activities not only elevate my gaming experience but also regenerate my enthusiasm for the game. They add an extra layer of excitement and keep me coming back for more. So, if you’re looking for a way to take your gameplay to the next level, give these strategies a try. You won’t be disappointed!
When you save someone, you move their marker one space clockwise around the ring and collect any rewards you land on. These rewards can include a new crew card or a milestone.
If you land on a milestone space, follow these steps:
- Gain 2 toxicity.
- Draw a tile from the artifact bag.
- Choose a guild dial and increase its value by one (maximum 4).
Artifacts
Artifacts are objects of cultural significance from the old world. You can find or acquire these artifacts through various means, such as:
- Every time you put down an Ocean Tile that completes a full circle graphic of the same color.
- When you save a Survivor that lets you move the Survivor track to the Milestone space.
Whenever you get an Artifact, pick a random tile from the Artifact bag and immediately do what it says for the Discovery Reward effect.
Afterward, turn the tile over and place it in the right slot on the Hub board. Make sure the nearest Guild dial matches the Artifact’s color. From now on, these Artifacts will help Skysiders get extra bonuses whenever they roll Research dice and get three or more results of that Artifact’s color.
Hey there! Just wanted to give you a quick heads up – if nobody has added any Artifacts to the Hub board yet, don’t worry! You can still snag the awesome bonus that’s printed on the board under the first slot. However, once you cover up that slot’s icon, those bonuses won’t count anymore. So, make sure to take advantage of it while you can!
Have you ever been in a situation where you were about to draw an Artifact tile, but there were none left in the bag? If so, don’t worry! I have a great solution for you. Instead of being disappointed, you can actually gain 4 resources!
Let’s talk about Sonar Track and Sonar Stations
When you play the game, the Sonar Track is super important. It tells you the value of the Sonar icon on all Dive dice. At the beginning of the game, when the Sonar Track is on the first space, each Sonar icon you roll on a Dive die means you get one Toxicity point.
As a Skysider, if you put together a group of three tiles that make a complete Sonar Station, you move the Sonar Tracker one space on the Sonar Track. And you also score the points shown under that space.
Moving the Sonar Tracker changes the Sonar icons on all Dive dice to something new. Pretty cool, huh?
When I decided to take the risk and go on my adventure, I didn’t realize that it would be so taxing on my body and mind. The Toxicity is something that I wasn’t prepared for, and it took a toll on me.
But you know what? Even though it was tough, it was worth it. The Survivor I gained was an incredible reward, and it made all the hardships worthwhile.
Now, let me tell you about Toxicity. It’s a double-edged sword, my friend. On one hand, it can elevate your senses and give you a burst of energy. But on the other hand, it can also regenerate a negative response in your body, leaving you feeling drained and exhausted.
So, how do you deal with Toxicity? Well, it’s important to understand that everyone’s tolerance is different. What works for me may not work for you. That’s why it’s crucial to listen to your body and take it slow.
Here are a few things to consider:
1. Start small: If you’re new to this adventure, it’s best to start with a low dose of Toxicity. Give your body time to adjust and see how it affects you.
2. Stay hydrated: Drinking plenty of water can help flush out the toxins from your body and keep you hydrated, which is essential for overall well-being.
3. Rest and recover: Your body needs time to rest and recover from the effects of Toxicity. Make sure to get enough sleep and take breaks when needed.
4. Listen to your body: If you start to feel overwhelmed or unwell, it’s important to listen to your body and take a step back. Don’t push yourself too hard.
By following these tips, you can navigate the world of Toxicity with more ease and make the most out of your adventure. Remember, it’s all about finding the right balance and taking care of yourself along the way.
So, are you ready to embrace the challenge and gain a Survivor and some Toxicity? If you are, then get ready for an unforgettable journey.
Have you ever wondered how to acquire an additional Survivor? Well, I have. And let me tell you, it’s not as straightforward as it may seem. But don’t worry, I’m here to walk you through the process.
First things first, let’s talk about the importance of gaining a Survivor. It’s a bit like finding a hidden treasure. Just think about all the advantages it brings! Having another Survivor by your side means you’ll have more help in your adventures, more support when things get tough, and more resources to draw from. It truly is a game-changer.
Now, let’s delve into how you can go about obtaining that precious additional Survivor. There are a few key factors to keep in mind.
One of the main things to consider is compatibility. You want to find a Survivor who complements your strengths and weaknesses. Someone who can fill in the gaps and bring a unique perspective to the table. So, take the time to reflect on what qualities you value in a Survivor and what kind of team dynamic you’re aiming for.
Another crucial factor is trust. You’ll be relying on this Survivor to have your back, so it’s important to choose someone you can trust wholeheartedly. Look for someone with a proven track record of loyalty and reliability. It’s all about building a strong bond and knowing that you can count on each other, no matter what.
Lastly, don’t underestimate the power of chemistry. When you’re working closely with someone, it’s essential that you have good chemistry. Look for a Survivor who shares your passion, enthusiasm, and work ethic. Someone who will be just as dedicated to the cause as you are.
So, there you have it. Gaining an additional Survivor is no easy task, but by keeping these factors in mind, you’ll be well on your way to finding the perfect teammate. Remember, it’s all about compatibility, trust, and chemistry. Good luck!
Hey there! Let’s dive into this awesome game mechanic together, shall we?
First things first, how about gaining a Survivor? Pretty cool, right? Once you do that, we’re going to roll another Dive die, just like the one you gained. The really neat part is that we get to add the results of that second roll to the first one. So, if you rolled a 3 on the first die and a 2 on the second, you’d end up with a total of 5! How amazing is that?
Now, here’s a little rule to keep in mind – you can’t go overboard and roll more dice than there are in the supply. We gotta keep things fair, after all.
Well, that’s about it! Isn’t it awesome how this mechanic works? It adds a lot of excitement and surprise to the game. So go ahead, gain that Survivor, roll those dice, and see what kind of adventures await you in the Dive!
When you collect one Survivor, you will also receive an extra along with it. This means you get to roll another Dive die of the same type and add the result to your total. However, there is a limit to the number of dice you can roll. You cannot exceed the total number of dice that are currently available in the supply.
If you ever want to move the Sonar Track forward but it’s already at the end, you’ll gain 5 points instead.
Switching from Sinkside to Skyside
When you play your Captain, you have the option to switch to the Skyside and join the Flotilla if you want. It’s not mandatory, and you can do it at any time during the game – whether it’s your first turn, last turn, or any turn in between. You can even choose to never switch!
If you decide to join the Flotilla, follow these steps as shown on your reference card (after you complete your Captain card):
Hey there! Let’s go over what you need to do at the end of the game. Don’t worry, it’s pretty straightforward. Just follow these steps:
1. Grab all of your Skiffs from your Ocean Tiles, and sell each one for the value listed on the Docks tile. Remember, the later you join the Flotilla, the less your Skiffs will be worth. For instance, if there are four players, the first player to join can sell their Skiffs for 16 each. The second player gets 12 each, and so on. Also, move any resources from your Skiffs to your supply.
2. Take all of your non-Starter tiles with Outpost markers on them and put them back in the bag. Don’t forget to return the Outpost markers to the game box.
3. Flip over all of your Ocean Tiles to their Skyside and add them to your reserve. Keep them in a stack next to your player board.
4. Flip all of your Crew cards to their Skyside.
That’s it! Now you’re all set for the end of the game. Good luck!
Flip your Starting Tile to its Skyside, keeping it connected to the Hub Board. If there was an Outpost on your Starting Tile, remove it and place it back on the Construction Site when you flip the tile.
You can construct Ocean Tiles from your reserve, up to the number specified on the Docks tile. The later you join the Flotilla, the more Tiles you can build now.
Outpost Objectives
When you want to buy an Outpost Objective tile, you can use a Transaction and a certain amount of currency. The amount of currency you need is shown next to the highest available Outpost token on your player board. The first token costs 20 currency units, and the price increases for each additional Outpost you build.
Building an Outpost requires a Construction Site. If you don’t have one, you can pay the extra fee listed on your player board. The fee is 10 for Sinkside and 20 for Skyside. The first person to ignore this requirement can build a Floating Outpost on open water. Either way, move the Outpost token to its destination.
To obtain an Outpost Objective tile, select a stack of tiles and immediately score the objective on the top tile. The objectives will adjust according to your achievements in the game.
The first two purchased tiles from a stack are removed and put aside. The third and bottom tile in the stack remains and can be purchased multiple times by any player.
Sail and Income Effects
Hey there! Let me tell you about Sinkside cards. They have this cool number called “Sail” value. This value tells you how far you can move your Skiffs. Each point of Sail value allows you to move one Skiff to a tile next to it. And guess what? If you have more than one Skiff, you can split your Sail value between them. How awesome is that?
Hey there! Just wanted to let you know about a cool feature in the game. Whenever one of your Skiffs lands on or passes by you, you have the option to transfer any resources from that Skiff to your personal reserve. It’s a handy way to make sure you hold onto those valuable resources.
Each Skyside card has its own “Income” value. When you play a Skyside card, you immediately gain the currency shown on that card. Sail and Income effects must be fully resolved before you resolve the card’s text ability.
There are two Keywords that appear on several Crew cards. The first is “Retire.” When you Retire a Crew card, you return it to the game box instead of placing it in your discard pile after its ability resolves. Retiring a Crew card can often provide a powerful optional effect.
The second Keyword is “Topside.” It refers to the topmost Crew card in a discard pile. Some effects, like the Scholar’s, will care about what your opponents have Topside.
Remember, if the text on a game component contradicts the rules in this manual, always resolve the game component’s text as printed.
