Blockers! Game Rules
Imagine a game where you have to outwit and outmaneuver your opponents to claim victory. That’s Blockers! In this exciting and strategic game, you’ll need to carefully plan your moves and anticipate your opponents’ tactics. Let’s dive into the rules and get ready to play!
Objective: The objective of Blockers! is to strategically place your blockers on the board in order to control the most territories by the end of the game. Setup: To start, each player will receive a set of colored blockers. The board is divided into different territories, and each player will take turns placing their blockers one at a time. The territories should be occupied evenly, ensuring a fair and balanced gameplay experience. Gameplay: Once the setup is complete, the game begins. Players take turns placing one of their blockers on an unoccupied territory. You can choose any unoccupied territory on the board, but keep in mind your long-term strategy. Each player must place one blocker per turn. Blocker Movement: After all the blockers have been placed, players can begin moving their blockers. You can move any of your blockers to an adjacent unoccupied territory. This allows you to strategically maneuver around the board and gain control over more territories. Controlling Territories: To gain control of a territory, you must have the most blockers occupying it. Once a player has the most blockers in a territory, they control it. Be warned, though, as your opponents can challenge your control by strategically moving their blockers. End of the Game: The game ends when all the territories on the board are controlled. The player who has control over the most territories is declared the winner of Blockers!
Now that you know the rules, it’s time to test your strategic thinking and tactical skills in Blockers! Will you be able to outsmart your opponents and claim victory? Gather your blockers and get ready to conquer the board!

Alright, let’s get started! First, place the board in the center of the table. Now, each player needs to choose a color and grab all the tiles of that color, along with a tile rack. Take all your tiles and put them face down in a pile in front of you. Make sure to mix them up really well!
Now, draw five tiles from your pile and put them on your rack. Keep them hidden from the other players. We need to decide who goes first, so pick a player randomly. The game will then continue in a clockwise direction around the table.
The Aim of the Game
The goal of this game is to create connected groups of tiles in your own color on the board. However, be careful not to capture too many tiles of the same color! A group is formed by tiles of the same color that are next to each other on the board.
Just to clarify, diagonal connections don’t count as part of a group. And don’t worry, even a tile that isn’t next to any tiles of the same color can still be considered a group.
When the game is over, you’ll tally up how many groups you have and how many tiles you have of the color you captured the most. The player with the lowest total wins.
How to Play the Game
(for 3 to 5 Players)
When it’s your turn, you have to choose a tile from your rack and put it on the board.
A number tile needs to be placed in one of the nine spaces in the column with the corresponding number. Likewise, a letter tile needs to be placed in one of the nine spaces in the row with the corresponding letter, and a symbol tile must go in one of the spaces with the corresponding symbol. (Look at figure A).
Guess what? Your BLOCKERS! (wild) tile can go anywhere you want on the board. You have the power to place your tile on an empty space or even replace your opponent’s tile with your own and capture it!
Here’s the catch – you can only capture your opponent’s tile if it’s not next to any tiles of the same color. But that’s not all! If the opponent’s tile is in a big group, you can still capture it, as long as you don’t split that group into multiple groups. Take a look at figure B for a better idea.

If none of my tiles can be played into empty spaces, I can’t just pass. I have to capture. So I take a tile and put it face up near my tile rack for everyone to see. After I capture a tile, I draw another one from the pile and add it to my rack. This cycle continues until all players draw their final tiles. Then, everyone gets one more turn before the game ends.
By the end of the game, I should have four unplayed tiles left on my rack. I count the number of groups I have on the board and the number of tiles I have of the color I captured the most. If there’s a tie for the most captured color, I can count any one of the tying colors. The winner is the player with the fewest tiles combining both of these counts.
If there’s a tie, the player who caught the fewest wins.
In this diagram, we can see three different colors: Yellow, Blue, and Green. Each color represents a player in the game. Yellow has a score of 5, which includes 4 groups and 1 point for captures. Blue has a score of 4, with 2 groups and 2 points for captures. Lastly, Green has a score of 2, with only 2 groups. In this case, Green is the winner with the highest score.
