5-Minute Dungeon Game Rules

Welcome to the 5-Minute Dungeon!

I’m sure you’re itching to jump into the action, but hold on tight! This guide will fill you in on all the rules of the game. So, grab your friends, gather your courage, and prepare for an adrenaline-fueled adventure like no other.

The Objective

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to work as a team to defeat the villain before time runs out. Your team will consist of brave heroes, each with their unique abilities. The villain has set up traps, monsters, and obstacles in the dungeon to halt your progress. It’s up to you to defeat all these challenges and emerge victorious!

The Deck

The game begins with a deck of cards, dividing them among each player. These cards represent the monsters, traps, and obstacles you will encounter along the way. Each player also receives a unique Hero card, showcasing their abilities and powers. Trust in your Hero card and the cards you hold in your hand to unlock victory!

Time is of the Essence

As the name suggests, the clock is ticking! Five minutes is all you have to defeat the villain. Every card you play should be swift and calculated. Plan your moves wisely, utilizing the strengths of your Hero card and coordinating with your team. Time waits for no one, and a single second can make all the difference! Get ready for a thrilling race against the clock.

Working as a Team

Collaboration is key. Communication with your teammates is vital. You’ll need to share resources, strategize, and coordinate your efforts. It’s a fast-paced game, so be prepared to think on your feet and act quickly. Remember, no hero stands alone – together, you can conquer any challenge!

The Battle

When encountering a monster or an obstacle, each player must play cards from their hand that match the symbols on the challenge card. However, keep in mind that you’ll need to defeat the challenges within a time limit. Work together to clear the dungeon, defeat the boss, and claim victory!

Going Deeper

The dungeon consists of five levels, each filled with new challenges and dangers. As you progress deeper, the challenges become more difficult. But fear not, for your Hero card will evolve, gaining new powers and abilities to help you overcome these trials. Adaptation and resilience are the keys to success!

Victory or Defeat

The game ends in one of two ways. If you defeat the boss within the time limit, congratulations – victory is yours! But if time runs out before you can vanquish the villain, you’ll all taste the bitter sting of defeat. Don’t lose heart, though. Analyze your performance, learn from your mistakes, and dive back in for another adrenaline-pumping round!

Conclusion

Now that you’re familiar with the rules, it’s time to gather your friends and embark on this epic adventure. Remember to work together, think on your feet, and make every second count. The clock is ticking, and the dungeon awaits. Will you emerge as a victorious hero or succumb to the challenges that lie ahead? The choice is yours!

Hey there! Let me tell you all about this cool game called Dungeon Cards. It’s a card game that’s a bit like Solitaire, but with a twist. The goal is to defeat all the Dungeon Cards by strategically placing your own cards on top of them. Sounds pretty fun, right?

Here’s how it works: you start off with a deck of cards, and you draw one card at a time. Each card has a symbol on it, like a skull or a sword. Your job is to match the symbols on your cards with the symbols on the Dungeon Cards. When you find a match, you can place your card on top of the Dungeon Card, and bam! You’ve defeated it!

But be careful – not all matches are good. Some symbols are bad news, like the lightning bolt or the skull with crossbones. If you match one of these symbols, the Dungeon Card will counterattack, and you’ll lose some health. Ouch!

To win the game, you need to defeat all the Dungeon Cards before you run out of health. So it’s not just about matching symbols – it’s about choosing the right cards to play and figuring out the best strategy. It’s like a puzzle game and a strategy game rolled into one.

Once you get the hang of it, Dungeon Cards can be really addictive. It’s a game that challenges your brain and keeps you on your toes. Plus, there are different levels and bosses to conquer, so there’s always something new to discover.

So what are you waiting for? Give Dungeon Cards a try and see if you can conquer the dungeon. Good luck!

When you explore the dungeon, you may come across different types of cards. Some cards are called Event Cards because they have a special icon (^) on them. These cards will give you instructions to follow, like discarding your hand. Once you complete the instructions, you can remove the Event Card and continue with the game.

However, most of the cards in the dungeon have symbols on them, like the one shown on the right. There are three ways you can defeat these cards:

Using Resource Cards
Using Action Cards
Using Special Abilities

Hey there, let me tell you something cool about heroes. They’ve got a special ability that really comes in handy when they’re on the team. You can find each hero’s ability down at the bottom of their Hero Mat.

Now, to actually use that ability, here’s what you do: just toss 3 cards face up into the Discard Pile space on your Hero Mat. Then, make sure to let everyone on the team know what you’re about to do, and finally, go ahead and do the action on your Hero Mat.

Some Notes to Keep in Mind when Using Abilities

  1. If you don’t happen to have 3 cards you can discard, sorry, but you won’t be able to use your ability.
  2. Now, if your ability lets you take down a certain type of Door Card – like a Monster, Obstacle, or Person – just know that you can only use your ability when you’re facing off against that specific type. But hey, other abilities can be used anytime, so that’s pretty handy!
  3. When time pauses, you actually can use your ability without the clock starting back up. Pretty cool, huh? But wait, there’s a catch: you can only use your ability once during each pause. Rules, rules, am I right?

The Rules for Playing Resource and Action Cards

When you’re playing the game, remember to place your cards in the center of the table, not in your discard pile. The discard pile on your player mat is only meant for cards that you discard in order to use your ability or because an Event Card instructs you to do so.

Once you put a card down, it’s there for good. Once you play a card to the middle of the table, you can’t take it back. (You can show a card to other players without playing it, if you want to).

How to play 5-Minute Dungeon Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When you’re playing a game of Resource Cards and you come across a Dungeon Card that doesn’t match what you have in your hand, don’t worry! You can still play those non-matching cards to get rid of them and draw new ones.

Just remember, this strategy is best used sparingly. Once you play cards to the middle of the table, you won’t be able to get them back with healing cards or abilities. They’re gone for good!

But things change when you face a Boss in the Dungeon. Once you reach the Dungeon Boss, you won’t be able to play any Resource Cards that don’t match the Boss’ symbols.

And that’s not all – you also can’t play Action cards that defeat Monsters, People, or Obstacles. (Bosses don’t count as any of those types). If you break any of these rules and play a card that you’re not supposed to, that card has to go back to your hand.

Time to Clear the Table

After you and your team have successfully defeated a Dungeon Card, it’s time to clean up and prepare for the next challenge. Simply sweep away the card you just conquered, along with any other cards that were played to defeat it. This clears the way for a fresh Dungeon Card to be revealed, and your adventure continues!

Replenishing Your Hand

How to play 5-Minute Dungeon Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When you play or get rid of cards, remember to always replenish your hand back to the starting hand size. Take a look at the table on the right to see what that size is.

If you happen to play a card or use an ability that allows you to draw more cards, make sure to draw those first. After that, if you still need to, you can refill your hand.

However, if at any point you have more cards in your hand than the starting hand size, you should refrain from refilling until you have fewer cards again.

Running Out of Cards

If you find yourself with no cards left in your hand and draw pile, don’t worry! You won’t be able to do anything until another player comes to your aid with a card like Heal, Donation, or Confusion. So be cautious and don’t waste your cards!

Heroes

Heroes. We all have our own idea of what a hero is. The word itself carries a certain weight and connotation. We think of superheroes with capes and masks, or perhaps our favorite athletes or celebrities. But what does it truly mean to be a hero?

For me, a hero is someone who goes above and beyond to help others. It’s not just about having superhuman strength or powers, but about having a kind heart and the courage to do what is right. A hero can be anyone, from a firefighter saving lives to a teacher who inspires their students every day.

Heroes are often seen as larger than life, but they can also be ordinary people doing extraordinary things. They don’t seek recognition or fame – they simply want to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others. They may not always wear a cape, but their actions speak volumes.

We often look up to heroes and admire their bravery and selflessness. They serve as role models and remind us of the power of compassion and empathy. They show us that even one person can make a difference and inspire others to do the same.

Heroes also come in many different forms. They can be found in our families, our communities, and even within ourselves. Every day, I strive to be a hero in my own way by being kind to others and standing up for what I believe in.

So, what does it mean to be a hero? It means having the courage to do what is right, even when it’s not easy. It means putting others before oneself and making a positive impact in the world. Being a hero is not about having superpowers or fame, but about being the best version of ourselves and using our talents and abilities to help others.

Remember, heroes are not just found in comic books or on movie screens. They live among us, and we can all strive to be heroes in our own lives. Whether it’s a small act of kindness or a grand gesture, we can all make a difference and be heroes in our own unique way. So, let’s embrace our inner hero and make the world a better place, one small act at a time.

The Mysterious Dungeon

Welcome to the mysterious dungeon! Inside these immersive walls, you’ll encounter thrilling challenges and face the ultimate test of your skills.

The Formidable Boss

Deep within the dungeon lies the formidable Boss, the ultimate adversary standing between you and victory. This powerful figure holds the key to conquering the dungeon.

Each Boss possesses unique characteristics:

Hey there! Get ready for an epic adventure with some seriously tough bosses. I’ll be your guide as we conquer each one of them, from Baby Barbarian all the way up to The Dungeon Master Final Form.

Now, it’s crucial that you pay attention to the symbols. These little guys hold the key to defeating each boss. You’ll need to figure out which symbols are required and use them strategically.

But that’s not all – you’ll also need Door Cards. These cards are like the building blocks of a boss’ dungeon. The number of Door Cards you collect determines the complexity of the dungeon.

Remember, we start with Baby Barbarian as Boss #1. If we defeat him, we move on to The Grime Reaper as Boss #2, and so on. It’s a challenging journey, but I believe in you.

The Power of Door Cards

Each Door Card represents a new challenge. It could be an obstacle, a tough opponent, or even a puzzle you have to solve. Take a look at each Door Card – it’s packed with important information that will help you overcome the challenges.

There are different aspects of the game that you should consider. Let me explain them to you.

First, there are threats. These can be Swords, Arrows, Scrolls, Jumps, or Shields. To defeat a Door Card, you need to play Resource Cards that match all of these symbols.

Then, there are types. These can be Monster, Obstacle, or Person. Some special cards and abilities allow you to defeat a card without matching its symbols.

Challenge Cards

When setting up the dungeon, you will include two Challenge Cards for each player. Challenge Cards have a horned skull on the back and come in two types.

Mini-Bosses are like super-strong enemies that are even harder to beat than regular Door Cards. When you come across a Mini-Boss, you’ll need to use more symbols to defeat it.

What makes Mini-Bosses different is that they don’t count as Monsters, Obstacles, or People. This means you can’t use the special powers of your Hero or any Action Cards like Fireball or Snipe to defeat them. You’ll need to rely on your symbol cards and strategy to take them down.

Event Cards: These are special cards marked with an icon that require the team to perform a specific action.

When an Event Card is flipped over, you have to immediately follow the instructions on it. However, there are Action Cards like Cancel and Holy Hand Grenade that can stop an event from happening before its effects are triggered.

Winning:

If you manage to defeat the Baby Barbarian and all of his cards, you will have conquered the first dungeon! Congratulations!

But remember, your adventure doesn’t end there! Be prepared to battle through six more dungeons and ultimately defeat The Dungeon Master Final Form in order to emerge as the winner of the game.

Preparing The Next Dungeon:

How to play 5-Minute Dungeon Official Rules UltraFoodMess

  • I’ll gather all of the cards and sort them back into their proper decks. Then, I’ll return the Hero Decks to the players they belong to.
  • Next, I’ll place the Boss Mat for the next dungeon right in the middle of the table.
  • Now, I’ll follow the instructions in the section called “Preparing the Dungeon” to set up the new boss’s dungeon.
  • I’ll set the timer back to 5 minutes and get ready to take on the new dungeon!

Looking for some variety? In between dungeons, you can mix things up. You can choose new heroes or add and remove players as needed.

What if I Lose?

How to play 5-Minute Dungeon Official Rules UltraFoodMess

When you’re in a dungeon, there are two ways it can defeat your team:

  • If all of us run out of cards,
  • Or if time runs out before we defeat the Dungeon Boss (or if we get stuck on it and have no way to defeat it).

If we find ourselves in either of these situations, our team has perished in the dungeon! We need to reset the timer, rebuild the Dungeon Deck, and try again!
