How to Play the Match and Spell Game
Welcome! I’m here to guide you through the exciting world of Match and Spell. Let’s dive right in and discover the rules of this amazing game. Get ready to have a blast!
The objective of Match and Spell is simple: match the letters on the cards to create words. It’s a fantastic way to boost your spelling skills while having a great time.
To begin, lay out the letter cards facedown on a table. Make sure they’re well shuffled so you never know what comes next. Now, I’m gonna let you in on a little secret. Are you ready? Here it comes – the longer the word you create, the more points you earn! So try your best to uncover those long and fabulous words.
Once the cards are set, it’s your turn to shine. Pick a card and flip it over. You’ll see a picture of an object on one side and some letters on the other side. Your task is to say the word for that object, spell it out loud, and then find and collect the cards that match the letters of the word. It’s like a treasure hunt with letters!
Let me give you an example. Imagine you flip a card and it shows a picture of an apple. You would say “apple,” spell it out loud – A-P-P-L-E, and then search for the letters A, P, P, L, and E among the facedown cards. As soon as you find a matching letter, collect it and place it in front of you.
Your turn continues until you can’t find any more letters that match the word you’re spelling. At that point, it’s time to count your points. Each letter earns you one point, so the longer the word, the higher your score. Keep track of your points and strive for new records every time you play!
Are you ready to embark on this spelling adventure? Gather your friends and family, set up the cards, and let the fun begin. Match and Spell is a fantastic game to enhance your spelling abilities while enjoying quality time with your loved ones. Happy spelling!

Hey there! Let’s have some fun and develop our reading and spelling skills together with this cool word building game. It has two levels to make things interesting!
What’s Inside
- I got 12 double-sided word boards that have 3-letter words on them.
- There are also 8 double-sided word boards that have 4-letter words.
- Plus, I have a bunch of letter cards – 68 to be exact!
How to Set Up
First things first, you need to pick a word board for yourself.
![]() For Game 1, let’s use the word boards with the words facing up. |
![]() But hey, for Game 2, let’s flip the word boards over so the words are facing down. |
![]() Now, take all those letter cards and scatter them on the table, with the letters facing up. |
Game 1: Match, Sound It Out, and Read

- When you play the game, you need to match the letter on the table to the first letter on your word board. If you don’t see a matching letter, feel free to ask for help from others. Remember to say the sound of the letter as you add it to your board. After you’re done, it’s the next player’s turn. The goal is to collect the letters in the order they spell out a word.
- First, I need to sound out the word to figure out which letters I need. I can also ask for help from other players if I’m having trouble. As I find the letters, I should say the sound of each letter out loud and place it on my board. Then it’s the next player’s turn.
- Once all the letters have been found, I should read the word out loud and pick another board to work on.

Hey there! I’ve got a super fun word game for you. It’s called “Scavenger Hunt Word Game,” and I think you’re going to love it!
Here’s how it works: I’ll give you a board filled with letters. Your job is to find all the letters and use them to spell out a word. Once you’ve found all the letters and spelled out the word, say it out loud. Then, you can move on to another board and start the game again.
Game 2: Phonetically spelling it out

When I use the blank side of the word board, I need to be extra careful to put the letter cards in the right order so that they spell the word correctly.

So here’s the deal, folks! When we play these two games, we keep going until all the word boards are done. How cool is that? It’s a straightforward concept, really. We just keep going until everything is completed. Simple but exciting! And let me tell you, that’s where the fun really kicks in. Because once we finish those word boards, it’s like a burst of energy. Like a firework explosion in the night sky! It’s truly something to experience.
