Hey there! Are you ready to try your hand at Hang Four, the popular word-guessing game? Well, I’ve got you covered. Here, I’ll walk you through the game rules, step by step. So grab your thinking cap and let’s dive in!
The Goal: Guess the Secret Word
Alright, let’s start with the basics. The goal of Hang Four is simple: you need to guess the secret word. Easy peasy, right? Well, maybe not so fast. There’s a twist! You’ve only got a limited number of incorrect guesses before you…wait for it…hang four!
How to Play:
Now that you know the goal, let me explain how to play Hang Four. Here’s a breakdown of the gameplay:
- I, as the “host,” will choose a secret word. Don’t worry, I won’t make it too tough. I’m all about having fun!
- Next, I’ll provide you with a hint to help you guess the word. This hint will be a word or phrase that relates to the secret word. Keep your eyes peeled for clues!
- Now it’s your turn! Take a guess by typing a letter into the guess box. If your guess is correct, great job! We’ll reveal all the instances of that letter in the secret word.
- If your guess is incorrect, don’t worry. We’ve all been there! But be careful, because you only have a few incorrect guess chances before…you hang four!
- As you make more guesses, we’ll keep track of the letters you’ve tried. That way, you won’t waste time guessing the same letter twice.
- Keep guessing letters and decoding the secret word until you’ve successfully guessed the entire word. Remember, you don’t want to hang four!
Tips and Strategies:
Hang Four is all about having fun and challenging your brain. Here are a few tips and strategies to keep in mind:
- Start with common letters: When you first start guessing, it’s a good idea to try the most common letters in the English language. That way, you’ll have a better chance of hitting the mark!
- Look for patterns: As you uncover letters, pay attention to any patterns that emerge. These patterns can help you narrow down the possibilities and make more accurate guesses.
- Use your noggin: Hang Four is a game that rewards critical thinking. So put on your thinking cap and let those gears start turning!

Alright, now that you know the rules and have a few strategies up your sleeve, it’s time to put your word-guessing skills to the test! Can you guess the secret word and avoid hanging four? There’s only one way to find out. Let the games begin!

Hey there! I’m excited to tell you about this super fun game called Surf Dogs. The goal of the game is to be the first player to collect four complete sets of surf dogs or have the most complete sets when the Surf deck runs out.
Setting Up the Game

- We need to separate the cards into two decks based on their card back.
- First, let’s go through the Surf deck (blue back) and place one surf dog character card face up in front of each player. After that, shuffle the rest of the deck and stack it face down in the middle of the playing area.
- Next, let’s shuffle the Surf Shack deck and stack it face down next to the Surf deck.
- Every player should receive three sand dollars, and the remaining sand dollars should be placed between the two decks in the middle of the playing area.
- The die should be placed within reach of all players.
Game Play
When the last person to smell a wet dog starts the game, play continues to the left. On your turn, you can choose ONE of the following actions:
- Roll the die to either collect sand dollars or visit the Surf Shack.
- Roll the die. This will determine the number of sand dollars you can use on your turn.
- Decide how you want to spend your sand dollars:
- If you have a multiple of 3 sand dollars, you can buy one or more cards from the Surf deck.
- If you have exactly 2 sand dollars, you can draw the top card from the Surf Shack deck.
- The first player to collect four complete surf dogs wins the game.
- So, the thing about the Surf deck is that when it’s all used up, the player who managed to gather the most Surf Dogs gets the big win. But here’s the deal, if there happens to be a tie, well then, the player with the most sand dollars snags the victory.
To play the game, follow these steps:
Note: Once you roll the die, you can’t cash in sand dollars (and vice versa). So think carefully before making your move!
The Excitement of Rolling the Die
When I decide to roll the die, I have two possible outcomes:
Gaining Sand Dollars from the Bank
If the die lands on a number, I get to collect that same number of sand dollars from the bank. This marks the end of my turn.
Remember: I can never have more than nine sand dollars at any given time from rolling the die. If I happen to roll a number that would exceed this limit, I should only collect enough to reach the maximum of nine.

Come Hang Out at the Surf Shack!
Hey there! If the die lands on the “Surf Shack” icon, you’re in for a treat. Go ahead and draw the top Surf Shack card and put it next to the deck so that we can all see it together. After that, you’ve got some options:
1. Seagull

Hey there, have you ever played a game where you can snatch your opponents’ sand dollars? It’s pretty cool, let me explain how it works!
First, you roll a die. Then, you collect that number of sand dollars from each player. Let me give you an example: Let’s say you roll a 3, that means every player must give you three sand dollars. Cool, right? But here’s the catch, if a player doesn’t have the exact number of sand dollars you rolled, they should give you as many as they have. So it’s not guaranteed that you’ll get all their sand dollars, but it’s still a win for you!
Oh, and don’t forget about the Surf Shack. If the die lands on the Surf Shack again, you won’t get anything. So watch out for that! It’s a sneaky move by the game.
Now here’s an interesting rule. This is actually the only time in the game when you can have more than nine sand dollars. Pretty cool, huh? However, there’s a catch there too. On your next turn, you must buy at least one card. So enjoy your extra sand dollars, but be prepared to spend some!
b. Snag a Surfboard

Hey there! Let me tell you about a cool move you can make in this game – it’s called “Steal”. With this move, you can snag some incomplete surf board cards from another player. Here’s how it works:
First, roll the die. Whatever number you get, that’s how many incomplete surf board cards you can take from one player. You can pick any combination of cards you want. For example, if you roll a 2, you can steal two incomplete cards from one player. Pretty neat, huh?
Now, here’s a twist. If no player has the exact number of cards that you rolled, don’t worry! You can still take up to that number of cards. So no one gets away unscathed!
But wait, there’s a catch. If you roll the Surf Shack on the die again, tough luck! You won’t get to steal any cards this time. Sometimes luck just isn’t on our side.
And now, let’s move on to the next move: “Wipe out!”

You start by losing some of the surfboard cards that you haven’t finished. Roll the dice one more time and take off that many incomplete surfboard cards from your collection (you choose which ones). Put them in a separate pile next to the Surf deck. If you don’t have enough incomplete cards to match the number you rolled, just get rid of as many as you have. But if you roll the dice and it lands on the Surf Shack again, you’re in luck – your cards are safe.
Exchanging Sand Dollars

If you decide to convert sand dollars into currency, there are two options you can choose from:
1. Cash in a multiple of three sand dollars to purchase one or more cards from the Surf deck. For instance, if you have three sand dollars, you can buy one card. If you have six sand dollars, you can purchase two cards, and if you have nine sand dollars, you can acquire three cards. Simply deposit your sand dollars in the bank, and draw the corresponding number of cards from the top of the Surf deck. Place these cards face up in front of you. If any of the cards help complete one of your Surf Dogs, line them up next to the completed ones. If not, put the card in an empty space to start a new Surf Dog. Bear in mind that you can have multiple incomplete Surf Dogs at once.
2. The second way to spend your sand dollars is by purchasing Wipeouts. To do this, cash in any number of sand dollars and take the corresponding number of Wipeout cards from the Wipeout deck. Each Wipeout card has a specific point value. You can use these Wipeout cards later on to help you earn extra points during the game.
A surf dog consists of three cards: a nose surfboard card (left), a surf dog character (center), and a tail surfboard card (right). When you have all three cards, you have a complete surf dog. Once you’ve completed a surf dog, it’s protected for the rest of the game. That means other players can’t steal it, and it can’t be lost in a wipeout.
If you have two sand dollars, you can cash them in and draw a card from the Surf Shack deck. Just follow the instructions on the card, which you can find under “Visit the Surf Shack”.
Note: You can’t buy multiple Surf Shack cards in one turn.
End of the Game
There are two ways the game can end:
