Welcome to the dungeon – learn to play with

Welcome to the Dungeon

Hey there! Welcome to the Dungeon – it’s a really cool game that we can play with 2 to 4 people. The main goal of the game is to either successfully complete two dungeon runs or be the last player standing without getting eliminated. Sounds exciting, right?

Getting Started

So, before we dive in, we all need to choose or randomly draw an adventurer to represent us in the game. This adventurer is shared by everyone for this round. Once we have our adventurer, we need to gather all the necessary equipment for them and place it below their adventurer card.

Now, let’s get ready for action! The monster deck should be shuffled and placed in the center of our playing area. Each of us will also take an aid card and place it in front of us with the white side facing up.

Oh, and just a heads up – we need to grab 5 success cards from the deck and keep them nearby. The remaining 3 cards can go back into the box for now.

Lastly, to determine who goes first, we’ll choose a player randomly. It’s all about keeping the fun going!

The Thrilling Adventure of the Game

Get ready for an epic journey split into two exciting parts! First, we have the bidding phase, where all players compete fiercely to secure a spot in the ultimate dungeon showdown. Then, comes the dungeon half, where the chosen warrior will test their skills, fighting to victory or facing elimination.

Step 1: The Thrill of Bidding

Once the first player starts the game, the bidding begins in a clockwise fashion. Each player has two choices. You can either draw a card from the monster deck, diving deeper into the mysterious adventure, or you can pass, conserving your energy for the next round. But, here’s the catch – once you pass, you’re out for this round, so choose wisely!

When you decide to draw a card from the deck, you’ll pull out a monster card and take a secret look at it. Then, you have two options. You can either put it facedown in the dungeon pile or take a piece of equipment from the adventurer and place both the monster and the gear in front of you. Remember, you can only do this if there are still equipment cards available.

This process continues until all but one player chooses to pass or until there are no more monsters left in the deck. Once all the monsters are gone, every player must pass. The player who didn’t pass is now the only player who will embark on the dungeon phase.

Welcome to the Dungeon

So, here’s how the dungeon phase works: I have this deck of adventure cards and gear cards that I made during the bidding phase. Now, I flip the top card of the dungeon deck and things get interesting. I can either take damage equal to the strength of the monster or use a piece of equipment to avoid it. If I choose the latter, I have to get rid of the equipment, though.

If I manage to either take the damage or avoid it, the monster goes away and I flip the next card. This keeps happening until I either survive with at least 1 health or I die from taking too much damage.

If I succeed in surviving, I get a success card. But if I fail and end up taking more damage than I can handle, I have to flip my aid card to the red side. Not good.

To win, I need to collect two success cards. But if I lose two dungeons, I’m out of the game. Tough luck!

What Happens in Future Rounds?

After a player finishes a round without winning, a new round begins. We collect and shuffle the monster deck, and the player who just completed the dungeon (whether they won or lost) gets to choose the next adventurer. We set up the game just like we did in the first round. The player who last entered the dungeon becomes the first player. If they were eliminated, the player to their left becomes the first player instead.

When Does the Game End?

The game ends in two situations. First, if a player wins two dungeons, they become the winner. Second, if there is only one player left, they automatically become the winner.
