Welcome to UNO FLIP!
UNO FLIP is an exciting twist on the classic card game, UNO. Created by Mattel in 2018, UNO FLIP adds an extra layer of intensity with its unique double-sided cards. When a Flip card is played, the entire game flips from light to dark or vice versa, creating a whole new level of challenge. Brace yourself, because things get even more intense on the dark side, with cards like Draw 5, Skip Everyone, and the Wild Draw Color. If you’re unlucky enough to draw that card, you’ll have to keep drawing until you get a specific color.
What You’ll Need
To play UNO FLIP, all you need is the special UNO FLIP deck, which consists of 112 cards. Each card has a light side and a dark side, adding to the excitement and unpredictability of the game. Let the flipping frenzy begin!
Hey there! Let me tell you about the fascinating world of UNO cards. It’s really cool! The deck of UNO cards is split into two sides: the light side and the dark side. The light side is made up of numbers 1-9, as well as eight special cards called Draw Ones, Reverses, Skips, and Flips. And that’s not all! There are also four Wilds and four Wild Draw Two’s, which can really shake things up.

Hey there! Let me tell you about the exciting world of a popular card game called Uno. It’s a game that’s loved by people all around the world.
THE DECK
So, when you open up the box of Uno, you’ll find a deck of cards containing both the light side and the dark side. Today, I want to focus on the dark side of the deck.
The dark side is home to numbers 1 – 9. It’s got eight Draw Five cards, which are pretty intense! And let’s not forget about the Reverses, Skip Everyone’s, and Flips cards – they can really turn things around in a game. Oh, and there are also four dark Wilds and four Wild Draw Color cards that add an extra layer of excitement to the mix.
THE DEAL

Hey there! Let’s talk about how to play this super fun card game. First things first, we need to determine who will be the dealer. We’ll do this by cutting the deck and seeing who has the highest card. Easy, right? Oh, and just so you know, action cards don’t count for this part, so don’t get too excited if you pull one!
Now that we know who the dealer is, it’s time to get dealing. Make sure all 112 cards are facing the same way, give the deck a good shuffle, and deal seven cards to each player. Don’t forget to place the rest of the cards face down and turn one card up to start the discard pile.
Alright, here’s how the game goes. The dealer starts the first round by going first. The player to the left of the dealer takes the lead. They have to play a card that matches either the color or number of the card that’s face up on the discard pile. If they can’t make a match or if they just don’t want to, they have to draw one card from the deck. And hey, if that card they drew can be played, they can go ahead and play it. Or they can hold onto it for later. After they draw a card, the turn moves on to the next player.
If the card that’s facing up is an action card, its action is put into play. For instance, if it’s a Skip, I skip my turn and it’s your go. When it’s a Reverse, we switch directions, and the dealer starts us off. Now, if it’s a Wild, the dealer gets to choose the color.
Watch out! Sometimes, we might get a Flip. In that case, all the cards get flipped, and we start playing on the dark side.
STILL IN THE GAME
We keep going by matching the top card on the discard pile with a card from our hand, or if we can’t, we have to draw.
WILD DRAW 2/WILD DRAW COLOR
If someone plays a Wild Draw 2 (light side) or a Wild Draw Color (dark side) card, you have a chance to challenge it. When you challenge, the player who played the card has to show their hand. If they have a card that could have been played instead, they must draw two cards. But if you’re wrong in your challenge, you’ll have to draw four cards instead.
With a Wild Draw Color, you have to keep drawing cards until you get the specified color, and then you have to draw two more cards.
FLIP CARDS
When a flip card is played, everything gets flipped. Each player turns their hand over so that the light side is showing. The draw pile and discard pile are also flipped. The new top card of the discard pile tells you what card you have to play next.
ONE CARD LEFT
When I’m about to play my second to last card, I have to remember to say “UNO.” If I forget and the next player catches me, I’ll have to draw two cards. But if the next player starts their turn without noticing my mistake, I’ll be in the clear.
The round comes to an end as soon as a player gets rid of their final card.
Now let’s talk about scoring. Every card that’s left in my hand at the end of the round has a point value. I’ll get those points if I’m the one who goes out. Only the side of the card that I’m using at the end of the round counts for scoring. If we’re playing on the light side, I’ll score based on the light side of the cards. And if we’re playing on the dark side, I’ll score on the dark side of the cards.
Number cards are worth the value of the number on the card. A “Draw One” card is worth 10 points.
Here are the point values for each action in the game:
- Draw Five = 20 points
- Reverse = 20 points
- Skip = 20 points
- Skip Everyone = 30 points
- Flip = 20 points
- Wild = 40 points
- Wild Draw Two = 50 points
- Wild Draw Color = 60 points
WINNING
The first player to reach 500 points wins the game.
ALTERNATIVE SCORING
If you’re wondering about another way to score, here’s an alternative: the player who goes out and completes the game earns zero points. However, each remaining player earns points based on the cards in their hand. Once a player reaches 500 points, the game is over, and the player with the lowest score is declared the winner.
