Setting Up the Game: Let’s Get Started!
Okay, here’s how we’re gonna set up this game. First things first, we need to place the game board right in the middle of our play area. Then, we’re gonna randomly place those region boards all around it. Next, let’s put those lone wolf tokens on the hexes with the wolf head icons. And here’s a neat trick – we’re gonna place prey tokens on each hex, but the number and type of tokens will depend on how many players we have.
Now, pay attention to this part. We want to make sure the moonlight board is facing the right way, so the correct number of players is showing. This is important, trust me.
Alright, now we need to gather a bunch of region scoring tokens. But how many we need depends on how many players are joining in the fun. Take a look at the instructions to figure out the right number. Once we know, let’s place a random region scoring token on each water source hex.
Lastly, we gotta put a region scoring reminder card on the crescent moon of the moonlight board. Oh, and don’t forget, we’ll also have these handy reminder tokens to help us remember which regions are gonna be scored. How cool is that?
So, here’s what happens. We start by putting down the tokens. And then, we move onto setting up the boards. Each player gets their own board, you see. They start by placing their special terrain tiles in the first slot. And then, they place four lairs, one den marker, six pack wolves, and two alpha wolves on their assigned spaces on the board.
After all the wolves are in place, we need to choose the first player. And how do we do that, you ask? Well, it’s simple. We just pick someone randomly. Once we have our first player, they get to put down an alpha wolf and a pack wolf on one of the empty hexes by the central chasm. And then, everyone else takes turns doing the same thing, going around the group clockwise, and then counterclockwise.
GAMEPLAY

Okay, so here’s how gameplay goes. We start with the first player, and then it goes around the group clockwise. So, each player takes their turn, and then the next player goes. Simple, right?
During your turn, you get to do two actions. You can choose to do two different actions or do the same action twice. It’s up to you!
Now, here’s the deal. To take an action, you gotta pay the cost. And how do you do that? Well, you reveal the Terrain Tiles. These are double-sided tiles that you’ll find at the top of your player board. Flip ’em over, and there you go!
Alright, now let’s talk about the actions you can take. There are six options: move, build dens, upgrade den to a lair, howl, dominate, and hunt. Each one has its own special rules and benefits. So, think strategically and choose wisely!
When you’re trying to choose the right Tile, you need to look at the hex you want to affect. Find a Terrain Tile that matches the terrain type of that hex. If you have Bonus Action Tokens, you can even take more than two actions. After you finish your actions, check the Moonlight Board to see if Region Scoring has happened. Then it’s the next player’s turn.
As you go through the game, there are a few important rules to keep in mind. If you’re moving an alpha, you can only go to an empty space or a space with a pack wolf. But remember, you can’t move onto a space already occupied by another alpha. If you do move onto a pack wolf, it will be moved to the nearest empty space. Keep in mind that two alphas can never be in the same space, but two pack wolves can share a space.
The game continues like this, with each player taking turns in a clockwise direction until someone reaches the Full Moon space on the Moonlight Board. When this happens, the game ends.
