Let’s Play the Passing Game!
The Passing Game is a fun domino game for 2 to 4 players. The goal is to be the first one to score enough points to win!
If there are four players, you can play in teams. If you choose to play as teams, you and your partner will sit across from each other and take turns placing tiles on the train.
Getting Started
First, we need to set up the game. We shuffle the dominoes, and each player will draw tiles for their hand. If there are 2 or 3 players, each player gets 7 tiles. If there are 4 players, each player gets 6 tiles.
There will be some tiles left over, and we call that the boneyard. But remember, you can’t draw the last two tiles from the boneyard.
Let the Game Begin!
When it comes to playing dominoes, there are a few important rules to keep in mind. First, we need to choose the leading player at random. This person will start the game by placing a tile on one end of the train. Then, we’ll go around in a clockwise order, with each player taking turns adding tiles to either end of the train. The tiles must match the side connected to the end of the train.
On your turn, you have three options. You can add a tile to either end of the train, making sure it matches the side it connects to. If there are more than two tiles left in the boneyard, you can draw from it instead. And if you don’t want to do anything, you can simply pass your turn.
When playing doubles, they are placed in the center of the train but don’t branch it.
The game continues until a player plays their last domino or until no one can make a move.
Now, let’s talk about scoring. After the round ends, each player needs to count the number of pips remaining in their hand. If you have no dominoes left, your score is 0.
That’s all you need to know to start playing dominoes! Have fun and good luck!
The winner of each round is determined by the player with the lowest pip value. They score the sum of all other players’ pip values minus their own. If there is a tie, no player receives any points for the round.
The game continues until a player reaches the target score. In a 2 or 3-player game, the target score is 101 points. In a 4-player game, the target score is 61 points.
END OF ROUND
The game ends when a player reaches the target score. That player is declared the winner.
