The Contender: A Political Game Like No Other

Politics can be confusing, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with it! The Contender is a game that lets you get involved in politics without needing a PhD in political science. It’s a game similar to Cards Against Humanity, with a political twist and plenty of laughs. Your goal is simple: play the right cards and impress the moderator!

Getting Started

First things first, you need to choose a moderator. This person will be in charge of the game and keep things running smoothly. They’ll gather the cards and divide them into two decks: the Topic deck and the other deck. Make sure the Topic deck is within reach of all players. The moderator will then deal four cards to each player.

Once everything is set up, the moderator will draw a card from the Topic deck, and the game begins!

How to Play

When I’m in charge of the game, I’ll start by drawing a topic card and reading it out loud to everyone. Then, it’s your turn to pick a card that you think goes perfectly with the topic. You can choose a card that fills in the blank or a card with a statement – it’s up to you!

When all of us have made our choice, we’ll hand our cards to me face down. This way, nobody can show any favoritism. I’ll go ahead and read all of the cards out loud, making sure we all have a good laugh together. Once we’ve heard them all, it’s time for me to pick my favorite card.

When you submit a card, you get to keep the Topic card, showing that you’ve scored a point. Then, it’s the next player’s turn to be the moderator. This cycle continues until the players agree to end the game or all the Topic cards have been used.

ENDING THE GAME

The game finishes when all the topic cards have been played. If players are short on time, they can end the game earlier. Then, the players add up the Topic cards they’ve scored. The player with the most topic cards wins the game!
