First, I want to mention that there are two different missions in each round, depending on the role you choose to play. Now, let’s dive into the game!

If you happen to draw the Chameleon role, your main objective is to stay hidden and keep your secret word a mystery. The challenge for you is to figure out the secret word before others figure out who you are. It’s a thrilling cat-and-mouse game!

On the other hand, if you are not the Chameleon, your task is to uncover the identity of the Chameleon without giving away the secret word. It’s a battle of wits!

The roles are assigned randomly, but the outcome depends on your skill and intuition. Are you ready for the challenge? Let’s set up the game!

SETUP

Getting started is easy! Just follow these simple steps:

1. Shuffle the Chameleon card together with the Code Cards.

2. Deal one card face down to each player. This card will determine their role in the game. If you receive the Chameleon card, remember to keep it a secret!

Now you’re all set. It’s time to start playing The Chameleon!

GAMEPLAY

Alright, here’s how the game goes: First, the dealer reveals a topic card for everyone to see. Then, they roll the blue and yellow dice. The numbers they get will tell each player where to look on their code cards. That’s where they’ll find a secret word on their topic card. Sneaky, huh? The chameleon has to play it cool and blend in during this part.

Starting with the dealer, each player takes a turn to say a word that’s connected to their code card word. Got it? Good. Now, imagine we’re all sitting in a circle. We go around clockwise, each person saying their word. Oh, and don’t worry if someone uses the same word as you. That’s allowed. The trick for the chameleon is to pick the right word so they don’t raise any eyebrows. It’s like trying to be a secret agent or something!

Here’s how the game works: once all of us have spoken our words, the debate begins. We can argue about who we think the Chameleon is, pointing fingers and making our case. When we’re ready, we cast our votes by pointing at the person we suspect. The person with the most votes must reveal their card and identity.

If the accused person isn’t the Chameleon, the game continues, and the Chameleon gets another chance to blend in. But if the accused person is the Chameleon, they have one shot at guessing the word before they’re out.

Now, let’s talk about scoring. If the Chameleon guesses the word without being caught, they score two points. If they’re caught, then the rest of us score two points. But if they’re caught and still guess the word, they only get one point. And don’t forget, the Chameleon for the next round is the current Chameleon. We’ll shuffle the cards and deal them again to start a new round.
