Sleep Tight: A Strategic Game of Escape and Collaboration

Welcome to Sleep Tight, a thrilling game where you have a choice: work together to defeat the Sandman or go solo on a daring escape from this treacherous nightmare. In this twisted reality, your soul has been shattered into fragments, and if you decide to escape, it’s up to you to collect these Soul Fragments. But watch out, because the Sandman will stop at nothing to get them back.

The Game Setup

First things first! Let’s set up the game. If there are fewer than four players, we need to remove the cards marked with a four. And if there are fewer than three players, the cards marked with a three also need to go. Once we’ve trimmed the deck accordingly, it’s time to shuffle the remaining cards. Now, gather all the tokens and place them in the center of the playing area. Each player gets three tokens to start their journey.

In this game, you followed these steps:

First, I drew seven Action cards from the Action deck. From those seven, I chose four to keep and three to put back in the deck. Then, we shuffled the deck again.

Next, we had to decide who would get the First Player token. This token gets passed to the left after each round.

THE WAY WE PLAYED

Since I had the First Player token, I started the game. During my turn, all players drew a Dreamscape Card and placed it face up in front of them. The number on the card told us how many Soul Fragments we could collect. There were only 26 Fragment tokens, so once they were all taken, we had to steal from each other to get more.

First, I’ll draw an Action card. If I want more Action Cards, I can put some tokens in the center. But I can only draw up to the number on my Dreamscape card. For every Soul Fragment, I’ll get an extra Action card.

Next, I can play as many Action cards as I want. I just need enough Soul Fragments to use them. I can also get more Soul Fragments by discarding Action cards. Keep in mind that Dreamscapes can change the requirements on the Action cards.

Alright, here’s how phase four works: you can play two Action cards together by stacking them up. Doing this actually reduces the number of Fragments you need, and that number is found on the bottom card. After everyone has played their Action cards, we all draw a single Sandman card and show it to everyone. We then complete the action card first, and afterwards, we deal with the Sandman card.

We keep playing like this until one player manages to escape the Nightmare, or until we’ve gone through all the Sandman cards. That’s when the game ends, and we figure out who the winner is.

THE END

Hey there! Let’s talk about how the game ends. There are two possible outcomes. First, if we run out of cards in the Sandman deck, it means we’ve successfully defeated the Sandman, and that means we all win! Yay! We can celebrate together!

On the other hand, the winner can also be determined by who has collected the most Soul Fragments. If someone manages to collect ten Soul Fragments and plays the alarm clock card, they escape the nightmare and become the ultimate winner! How exciting!

But things don’t always go according to plan. If none of us have any Soul Fragments, well, that’s not good news. It means we all lose, and the Sandman will consume us. We definitely don’t want that to happen!

And here’s another scenario to watch out for: if we run out of cards in the Dreamscape deck, we all become trapped in our dreams, and that’s also a loss for us. So, we need to be careful and make sure we don’t let that happen!
