Welcome to Skylands!
Hey there! Are you ready to embark on an epic adventure? Well, you’re in luck because in the world of Skylands, you get to be the hero! It’s up to you to rebuild this amazing world piece by piece. Trust me, the bigger, the better!
Let’s Get Started
Before we dive in, let me explain how to set up the game. First, we need to place the supply board in the middle of all the players. Then, we’ll need to put the four action boards around it. All the fantastic inhabitants of Skylands will start on the supply board, sorted by their color. Now, if there are fewer than four players, we’ll have to remove some islands to make it fair. Don’t worry, we want everyone to have a fair shot at victory! Lastly, we’ll place the Victory Points right beside the board. Now we’re ready to roll!
When building islands, it’s important to keep in mind that they are composed of adjacent tiles of the same type. The special islands are displayed by assembling and sorting the tiles. To do this, four tiles of each type are drawn and placed next to the board. If there are any open edges, it means that the island is not complete.
Now, let’s talk about how the game is played. First, each player will choose a marker and token in their preferred color. Place the marker on its active side. Next, select a player board and collect a starter island tile, along with three additional island tiles from the supply. Remember, you’ll need to discard one of these tiles. Once all players have marked their names on the score pad, we’re ready to start the game.
GAMEPLAY
So here’s how it works: we start by randomly picking someone to go first. Then, we take turns in a circle, going clockwise. When it’s your turn, you can move your player token to one of the three action boards. In the first round, you get to pick any board you want.
After that, everyone takes turns doing the action from the board the current player chose. This continues until everyone has done the action. The twist is that only the player whose turn it is gets a bonus. The rest of us just do the regular action.
Once we’re all done, the next player gets to choose their action, and we keep going until everyone has had a turn. Then the round is over.
You’ve got plenty of options when it comes to what you can do in this game. You can search for new islands, settle down inhabitants, construct brand new islands, or even transform energy. If you decide to explore islands, for example, you’ll reveal a certain number of tiles, which is one more than the number of players. After that, each player selects an island and adds it to their own board, making sure to follow the rules for placing tiles. You can place tiles in any empty spot on your board, but they need to match up with the edges of other tiles to be connected.
If you want to add people to your island, you have to choose a whole island that doesn’t already have people on it. You can put one of your people on each space of that island. When it’s your turn to choose, you can add people to two islands. If you want to make new islands, you can choose a special island tile. Everyone has to pay with people to make new islands, except for you.
The last thing you can do is turn energy into victory points. To do this, you choose a completed crystal island. There has to be at least one person on the island. You move the people from the crystal island to the city island and get one victory point for each person you move. The game keeps going like this, with everyone taking turns and choosing actions, until it’s over.
THE GAME ENDS
Hi there! The game comes to an end when someone runs out of empty spaces on their board or when there aren’t any more Victory Points left. Let’s see how we tally up those Victory Points. You’ll lose two points for each empty space on your board, but don’t worry, you’ll earn points for every pair of inhabitants and each completed island space. Whoever has the most points at the end, wins the game!
