SHADOW HUNTERS
Welcome to the world of Shadow Hunters, a thrilling game set in a forest overrun by demons. In this game, you’ll be divided into three groups: the Shadows, the Hunters, and the Neutrals. Each group has its own objectives and is in a constant battle for survival. The catch is, you never know who you can trust in this treacherous world.
SETTING UP THE GAME
When you start playing the game, you’ll notice that the gameboard is situated right in the center of the playing area. Take a moment to absorb this layout. Look closely and you’ll see that the area cards are positioned in three random pairs across the board. What you may not notice right away is that each pair is within the same attack range. How intriguing!
Now, let’s take a look at the cards themselves. The Black cards, White cards, and Hermit cards each have their own distinct roles and abilities. To keep things fair and unbiased, they are shuffled separately and placed along the edge of the board, each in their assigned space.
Now comes the exciting part – choosing your color! You get to select a color to represent you in the game. Once you’ve made your decision, take two Wooden game pieces that match your chosen color. Next, place one of the game pieces in the “no damage” section of the damage track. This is where you’ll be keeping track of whether or not you take any damage during the game. Finally, take the other game piece and place it directly in front of you.
Alright, let’s talk about how to get this game started!
First things first, we need to sort out the character cards. There are three groups of cards, and we’ll shuffle each group separately. Make sure the backs of the cards are facing up. Now, check the character card allocation list to see how many cards we need to draw from each group.
Once we have all the cards, we shuffle them together and deal them to the players. Each player will receive a card that reveals their character. Remember, it’s important to keep your character a secret from the other players.
Now that everyone has their cards, we can begin the game. But wait, who goes first? We’ll randomly choose a starting player, and then we’re ready to get this show on the road!
When it’s my turn, I have to move my character and then I can follow the instructions on the area card or attack another player. First, I roll the dice to see how far I can move my character. The numbers on the dice are added together, and that tells me how many spaces I can move. I can’t stay on the same area card, so I have to keep moving.
After I move, I can read the instructions on my new area card. Sometimes it tells me to draw cards. I can also choose to attack other players who are within my range. If I decide to attack, I pick a target and roll the dice. The difference between the numbers on the dice is the amount of damage I do. When I’m done with my turn, the person to my right starts their turn.
If you accumulate enough damage that your Character moves to the end of the damage track, then you become deceased. At this point, you are removed from the game, and your identity is revealed. The game keeps going like this until someone wins!
The Game Ends
The game ends right away when you fulfill your character’s Win Condition. You reveal your identity and announce that the game is over. You can do this at any time, even if it’s not your turn. If you fulfill your character’s Condition, you are declared the winner.
