PASUR
Hey there! Have you ever heard of Pasur? It’s a super fun fishing game that’s really popular in Iran. It’s kind of like Cassino and Basra, where you try to make card combinations to capture cards from the pond. But what makes Pasur special is that you have to make combinations that add up to eleven. Pretty cool, right?
THE CARDS & THE DEAL
Let’s talk about the cards and how the game starts. You’re going to need a regular deck of 52 cards. Each player gets four cards, and then four more cards are dealt face up in the middle. These four cards make up the “pool.” Oh, and if any Jacks are dealt to the pool, they get taken out, shuffled back into the deck, and replaced with a different card. Gotta keep things fair!
THE PLAY
Now, here’s how the fun begins! The player sitting to the left of the dealer gets to go first. It’s their turn to make a move.
THE TURN
When it’s my turn to play, I have a choice. I can either take one or more cards from the pool by using a card from my hand, or I can add one of my cards to the pool. However, I cannot add a card to the pool if it can be used to pick up other cards.
Picking Up Cards
If I have a numbered card, like an Ace, in my hand, I can use it to pick up one or more cards from the pool, as long as the total sum of the cards equals 11. For example, if I have a 7 in my hand and there’s a 3 and an Ace in the pool, I can use my 7 to pick up those two cards.
Kings can pick up other Kings, and Queens can pick up other Queens.
A Jack can collect all the Jacks and numbered cards that are on the table.
Any cards that I pick up are collected and placed face down next to me.
SUR
If you manage to grab every card on the table, except for a Jack, you’ve completed a Sur. To keep track of your Surs, just flip over one of the cards you’ve captured.
If the table is empty, the next player must add a card to the pool before ending their turn.
GETTING MORE CARDS
Once you’ve run out of cards, the dealer gives each player four more.
ENDING THE GAME
The game goes on until all the cards have been dealt and played. After the final deal, the player who matches the last card from the pool also takes the remaining unmatched cards.
SCORING
In the game, if you have the most Clubs, you get 7 points. But if there’s a tie, no one gets any points. The 2 of Clubs is worth 2 points, and Aces and Jacks are worth 1 point each. Each Sur card is worth 5 points.
HOW TO WIN
The game ends when someone reaches 62 points or more. The first player to reach that score wins the game.
