Palazzo game rules – how to play palazzo

PALAZZO

In the time of the late renaissance, I’m a wealthy landowner with one goal: to build the most magnificent palace in all the land. To achieve this, I must choose from different parts and gain victory points as I progress. But here’s the catch – I can only move forward if I have money in my pocket.

SETUP

First, let’s talk about setting up the game. We start by placing all the building materials in the center of the playing area. There are four quarries, and we put them around the materials. Now, the master builder gets to choose any of the quarries to start with. Next, we sort the building tiles based on their backing and shuffle them to create three stacks.

When we reach the end of the game, we mix the five game-ending cards into the last deck of building tiles. From that deck, we draw five cards and place one on each quarry and material supply. We also put the value three certificate by the material supply. Lastly, we shuffle all the money cards and place them face down to create a supply.

Now it’s time for each player to draw four money cards while hiding them from the other players. You may also collect a summary card if you’d like. With that, we are ready to begin the game!

How to Play

First, we need to decide who will go first. After that, the turns will go in a clockwise direction. On your turn, you can choose to take money, buy or sell building tiles, or reconstruct a tile.

When you decide to take money, you’ll draw a number of cards from the supply that’s one more than the number of players. These cards will be displayed on the table in front of you. You’ll add two cards to your hand, and then each player will take turns choosing a card to add to their own hand, going in a clockwise order.

If you want to buy or sell building tiles, you’ll need to draw two tiles from the building tile stack. The first card you draw will be placed in the material supply facing up, and the second card will be placed on a quarry. The quarry is determined by counting the number of windows on the tile in a clockwise direction, and placing it on the corresponding space. Once you’ve done this, you can decide whether to buy more tiles or sell the ones you have.

When I play the game, I can only buy tiles from the material supply. To figure out which tile I can buy, I move the master builder to the next quarry that has at least one building tile. I have to move in a clockwise order. Any building tiles I find in that quarry can be sold.

Lastly, if I want to fix one of my old tiles, I can do a tile reconstruction. But it costs money, so if I don’t have any, I can’t do it. When I do a tile reconstruction, I can choose to remove a building tile, place a building tile, or get rid of a building tile from the game. After I finish my turn, it’s the next player’s turn.

GAME OVER

The game finishes when all the end game tiles are chosen. Once they’re picked, no more actions can be taken. Then, it’s time to calculate the Victory Points. The player who has the most Victory Points becomes the winner.
